Just bought my first bike. Learning how to ride is a blast. I dumped it twice this weekend? Nothing real bad. I’m is nice to hear the success and failures of riders like you. I’m 45 and feel like a kid again on .... you guessed it a DR200!
Congrats. Two wheels makes you younger. G forces suck you into the seat when you rail berms, etc. Only thing close would be surfing, or Roller Coaster. Have fun.
My daughter and I just finished our first race thanks to you sir! I am 27 and she is 7. What a blast, we got our butts handed to us, but we are hooked now! You make it look easy!. I couldn't imagine horsing that 600 around for that amount of time. You should be happy with that finish! Keep up the content man!
On the old XR500's and 350's a good trick if it wouldn't start was to pull the decompression handle, open the throttle wot then kick it over easy like 10 times no choke. Then release decompression and start as normal. Works like a champ on mine. Mine can be a beast to start if I stall it but the trick I just explained works good.

Amen man, I did the 24hrs of Glen Helen in the Ironman class twice, nothing, no amount of video or commentary could ever do that race justice. I slept for 20hrs the day after finishing the race the second (and last) time. I am sticking to 3ish hour long desert races from now on.
Getting ready to do the Northeast 24hr Challenge in upstate NY. Did two years of six man teams, the last two years were two man, and this year I’m going 50+ Ironman. I’m 55, and just doing it for the challenge. Definitely looking forward to it.
Whatever physical shape you have to be in for this is far from anything I would ever be at this juncture. Good for you even attempting it on the big thumper!
I remember my first holeshot. I was not on top of my game but it turned into a 4th place finish from what would have probably been a 10th. Keep on living the dream my man!
Bro, get a DR350. I swear to God you will not regret it, bro. Hell, if you were on the east coast I'd lend you mine, lol. If you do get one try to get a pre 95, because the off-road one has a Mikuni TM33, which is a flat slide pumper carb, and it doesn't weigh that much. It's actually one of the best handling bikes I've ever ridden.

Right? It got so torn up out there! I was laughing at a lot of it in the second half. Come through a turn carrying good speed because it's nice and worn in, just to open up to a DISASTER of a straight that you have to slow down for and crawl through haha. Hope to see you at the 10!

I love it! Can you please make a video about all issues regarding XR600R starting up? What was the reason you could not get it going for half an hour? I have had the same behaviour on my XR600R recently. And I am about to do an enduro rally tomorrow. Any tips on getting it working after a fall quicker would be much appreciated! Thanks.
great video and I know how hard it is to capture good quality footage, just a shame you didnt get any from the last hour when the track is totally wooped
I'm no expert by any means, but after seeing many of your videos, I have the feeling you should look into doing this as a professional racer (if you haven't already).
Girlie on W402 who went around you on the start line - you passed her on 07:14. But be honest: I think you like the very challenging courses. It is "your thing".
Hey, when you're discussing your failures during the race, edit in the crashes, that would make it that much better. I don't mean I want to see you get hurt, but the crashes are fun to see as well. Keep on truckin' & good luck moving fwd.
Agreed, great for an emergency boost My personal opinion for a 6 hour event is to have a good meal (chicken and carbs) a couple of hours before hand, use the energy gels as a filler during the race (2 is plenty), and at the half way point eat a couple of p.b and jam sandwiches. Great videos and enjoy the run what you brung attitude.
I ridden a few endurance races but they were long rallies on double and single track with varying degrees of difficulty.
