A recently married man was in his garage working on his Celica.
His new wife came out and watched him for a few minutes before saying "Now that we are married, you should probably sell that old thing"
Suddenly the mans face went pale and he looked as tho he was going to be sick.
"Are you OK ?, whats the matter" asked his wife.
The man said, "For a moment there you sounded like my Ex-Wife"
"EX-WIFE" the woman shouted, "You never told me you were married before"
    "I wasn't" he said.

I guess I’m a lucky guy... I’m over 60 and have owned Jeeps my whole life. Mostly Wranglers...but some Jeep Grand Cherokees and Cherokees too. I take care of my vehicles and never miss servicing or oil changes, and air filters. I also keep them as clean as possible, both as a hobby and so I can notice any strange leaks or fluids. I’ve never had SERIOUS issues with any of these Jeeps. V8’s, V6’s...no troubles. Don’t get me wrong, I do agree there are times when FCA released products too soon. The 9 speed transmission originally was released before the software was ready. But, even so, you can keep your vehicles running pretty good if you just pay attention. If I am one lucky guy...I’m real lucky. Because Ive owned almost everything Jeep has made...except 4 cylinders (although I like the 2.0 Hybrid/Generator motor). No troubles...know on wood.

Jeeps may have gone downhill but I got a 16 Cherokee and I REALLY like how rugged it is compared to any other SUV I've seen. The rubber mats are so easy to clean, the interior looks great, and the only problem mine has is the shift lights get confused and it throws a "shifter service" warning, but it drives and shifts just fine.. it's literally just the lights lol
That said, nothing about the new cherokee's scream off road to me. It's just a typical SUV with a few nice touches on the interior.

I have owned a number of vehicles in my 62 years of life and all have been 4x4 vehicles, I have owned Ford, Chevy, Dodge, Toyota and Jeeps. I perform all the maintenance you are supposed to. I have never had a mechanical issue with any of my Jeeps and I use them hard offroad (from the Everglades to Alaska) and put a lot of miles on them (typically 100k plus in the first few years, I travel a lot). Sure they drive like a brick on highways, but once offroad, there is not a modern vehicle that comes close to a modern Jeep. As for warranties, well, I purchased a 2023 JTR (Gladiator Rubicon) last week and it came with a lifetime warranty on both motor and drivetrain as long as I do not modifiy them without MOPAR parts and do regular oil/fluid changes as you are supposed to. Jeep knows people will be modifying many aspects of their Jeep and they do not void warranties for most modifications. There simply is not a modern vehicle that will perform offroad like either a Wrangler of Gladiator with the Rubicon trim (well, maybe the Mojave if you are into Desert racing).

He’s not wrong. I own a Jeep Mojave 2021. I’ve had to have the valve body and driveline assembly replaced. The hardest part is dealing with STAR warranty service. They don’t want to take on responsibility for solving “the” problem. They want to solve ”a” problem. So it’s been too many visits to get the actual problem fixed.

I bought my first Jeep Wrangler in 2020. I’ve owned 50 cars, and many of them were/are Toyota’s. I bought it for two reasons. First, until the Bronco, it was the only car where you can take off doors, the top and the windshield. Second, it retains 70% of its value over 5 years - more than any other car (including my 4RUNNER). The biggest cost of a new car is depreciation, so the Jeep over five years will likely cost less than most other cars. Having said that, I did purchase an extended warranty.

I've owned 34 cars with 7 of them Jeeps. All of them have been very reliable. The one that required attention was a YJ that was a mess when I bought it. Took the time to fix it properly since the previous owner only put gas in it and that's it. That was in 2017. Now six years later I will be replacing the tie rods, lower steering column and upper steering shaft bearing. After 166,000 miles it is only natural that those items would wear out. Engine has been pretty solid. Had a 2013 Grand Cherokee for 10 years and the only problem was the oil pressure sensor which I fixed myself. Heck the OEM battery lasted 8 full years.

Idle RPM was set at 500. This was in the 1990,s and the person I sold it to is still driving several days a week. If you can’t leave it out in the rain without the top it’s not a Jeep.

My grandfather and I got two 1969 Jeep CJ5s that are within 100 serial numbers of each other and my dads got a Jeep Scrambler (don’t know the year). We love these cars and we’ve put these Jeeps through hell and back and have the only time we’ve had to repair them is when either my dad flipped his Scrambler five times being reckless because he was seeing how far he could push the jeep and on the fifth time we had to replace the windshield and that’s it, even after he went down a cliff. On my CJ5 we had to weld some angle iron to the front control arm because I hit a rock when my dad was going 80mph through the desert and didn’t see it. That Angle iron has been there since at least the early 90s and was actually stronger. I got the jeep now that I’m able to drive and I’m fixing it up after it’s sat in a field for 20 years. And after that 20 years we put some gas in and it fired right up like it was fresh from the factory. The older versions of Jeep are better than anything coming out today.
Edit: My mom has a jeep gladiator. She loves it and she goes on most rides with us but there are some things that she can’t do because of the length of it and the fact that she’s stock. But we go out with a modded Jeep Gladiator and it does a hell of a lot more than you’d actually expect. Really the only thing holding it back by even the smallest bit is the length. But even that is irrelevant if you have a good and smart driver.

Before AMC, Jeep was owned by Kaiser. I know this because I learned to drive in my dad's 1970 Kaiser Jeep Gladiator J-3000, a full-size pickup. It had a Buick 350 V-8, the same 4-speed transmission as heavier-duty Fords, Timken axles, differentials, etc. and a Motorola electrical & ignition system. Sadly, Jeep's build quality was junk even then. Within a few years, everything began to rust badly -- including fasteners, brake lines and frame -- the once-beautiful "President Red" paint turned chalky, and there were always problems with the hydraulic valve lifters in the Buick engine. Other than that, it was a tough truck that handled heavy loads well and pulled like a locomotive.

I had a 1994 Wrangler and 1999 Cherokee. Both ran well and only my son and granddaughter could tear them up after I gave them to them. I learned to drive in a 1967 Pink Jeep !
It was much better than my 1990s Jeeps. I do have another granddaughter that wants a old Jeep so I will have a project Jeep soon.

I just bought a 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 4x4 with a 3.7 l v6 and that thing was kept in immaculate condition all the maintenance has been kept up on it looks brand new got it for 3,500 they wanted $4,000 but it needs both ball joints replaced that's going to cost me $500 tomorrow so I gave them 3,500 for the vehicle. Also when the downshifts from 3rd to second it has a bump and I figured out what it was the computer needs an update so I'm taking it in to the dealership and paying $130 to have the flash done and install the new updates the rims on this thing are worth over 1500 all the tires are brand new it drives good shifts out smooth I like it so far

Bought my first Jeep in 2013, a 2 door Wrangler which maybe short of the Gladiator is the only Jeep model I would even think about. Fast forward to 2021 and I've had no serious or expensive issues with it and it is driven in Erie, PA, perhaps one of the toughest environments on a vehicle in the country. The biggest plus is it's a vehicle I still like after 8 years, and that's better than owning a vehicle I grew to hate, namely the 2007 Toyota Tacoma I had before that despite washing it regularly had a crusty looking frame after 6 years.
