I don't really find that necessary here in southern California. You can see in this video... the terminals look pristine on a battery that was installed six years ago. But yes wet climates would benefit from some help like that 👍
Dude I love all your videos , very informative. I’m still using a small bottle of Lucas fuel additive every tank of fuel based on your videos 👍🏻 keep up the good work
How? How did you know I was going to have starter issues this week? Turning the key brings on the dash and lights but just makes a clicking noise in the engine bay. My best guess is the starter isn’t getting enough power from my 7 year old battery after installing an SPod and Air Compressor. Time to order this exact Optima battery and use your video as an install guide 😂
Thank you for another great video! I've been pondering this very thought for a while, as my JK needs a new battery. Couldn't find a lot of reliable info either, so I never pulled the trigger. Once again, Jeepin' Jason to the rescue! Much appreciated, sir!
You just opened my eyes on having a reliable battery.. specially since we go camping often. What do you do to the parts after an upgrade? Will i see this battery up for sale? 😅
I wouldn't feel right selling a six year old battery... for batteries I just rotate them to the next oldest vehicle. My squarebody is about to get a massive glow up!
Those batteries got low enough that the charger they came with wouldn't recognize them. I connected the leads from the trickle charger on the optima unit to the individual batteries for 15 minutes and it got their voltage up enough for their original charger to accept them again.
From the topics, filming and editing, always great videos! Question, did you track/test your fridge run time and compare to the newer battery? You have me curious now for my JL... For my fridge, I use a Jackery 1000 to run it, charging the Jackery as I drive from the Jeep, but... if I could get rid of the Jackery and just use a larger Jeep Battery, hmmmmmm!!!!
I haven't gone out with the new battery yet but I did use the H6 for a few days running the fridge with no problem so I'm thinking a little more would be good. We'll see. I kind of like the way you have yours setup! Add a DH7 to that and you'll have some serious power to draw on.
Great video, I might be doing this now for my JK. I was initially going to go the dual battery route from Genesis offroad, curious about the pros and cons between the two.
Another informative video. Question (with lead up): I'm planning 14-ish day trip in July. Was thinking of doing a lithium battery setup for my fridge. I plan to travel every day, so the heaviest battery draw will be from the fridge while I sleep. As a self identiified battery geek, do you think this battery will handle be able to handle that much work, or do you suggest the lithium option?
Oh yeah, this battery will handle that with no problem at all. My H6 had that routine covered as well and this big dog offers even more peace of mind. I could comfortably camp for a couple days at a time running the fridge and then travel to the next destination. I like your thought to bring the extra lithium to run other items or a just in case option.
@AutoEdits When I got my Wrangler a couple of years ago, I expected the off-roading. What surprised me is how much I keep having to learn to do it well. I watched your long-arm installation before I did my lift last year. I went with the mid-arm MC, but I learned enough from your video to try it myself. Now I'll put the battery info to use, thanks.
Nice upgrade! I have the same battery that you took out. Out of curiosity, did your battery terminal tighten down ok? When I did mine, I had a really tough time getting it to be tight. I ended up having to bend the connector a bit to get it to actually be tight on the terminal.
Good afternoon, I am the owner of a wonderful RR L320 Supercharged 2008. I got a very strong creak in the chassis , I took it to the service , the levers were replaced , but the creak did not disappear . It became smaller but did not disappear . I would like to replace the entire suspension in my RR with a new one. Tell me, can you do it?
Hey Jason! I need a suggestion, my battery in my 2013 jku keeps either dying or going bad. Do you suggest a battery charger or a battery tender? It gets driven a few times a week but still occasionally has battery trouble. Thanks!
The Optima D200 is a great trick charger and maintainer but it sounds like you might have a parasitic draw. Check your fuse M13 and see if it is using current when the Jeep is off.
@@AutoEdits Well that’s a new one. I did find out I had a usb plug I had installed in the past that was left on, possible culprit. I was considering the optima 400 just to have in case.
Do you have any issues with your old H6 and the negative battery terminal ? Mine has been a little loose with the factory wiring since I bought it l. It’s just barley too small for a spacer so I’m looking into a new battery terminal
ODYSSEY is ten times the battery than Optima . Plus they are made 100% in America ,where Optima are now made in Mexico .. where they used to be made in America..

Jason, I’ve been a fan of your Channel for years. I know it’s not always easy, but keep it up, your videos are amazing!
☝️He's right. Keep it up, Jason!
Thanks! Will do!
Thank you!
Just bought a dh7 for my Wrangler Rubicon today. Thanks for the info.
No problem 👍
That battery is a beast!!
It really is! 😂
Did I not see jason not use any dielectric grease on his battery terminals? You rock dude!

Another great installation video! Here's to powering peace of mind and adventure. 🎉
Heck yeah! Confidence to go farther!
I love that you can put a 55 lb battery on the Metalcloak fenders!!
Very good observation! I've stood on those things... way under rated.
Dude I love all your videos , very informative. I’m still using a small bottle of Lucas fuel additive every tank of fuel based on your videos 👍🏻 keep up the good work
Thanks! I'm back on the one bottle every tank program right now as well!!! I love the stuff.
I got a blue top back in 2013 still working like a new one
Nice! 🙌

Affiliate pennies on the way!

Dual batteries offer a lot more reserve power but I didn't want the complication and don't need anywhere near that much.

I've heard that before but these tighten right up. I give them a little tap to make sure they are all the way on.
No sparky spark this time😂 great video!
😂
I want one!!!

I love the D400... it's my workhorse charger. My buddy just chased down the M13 circuit draw problem as his kept eating batteries.
Wonder if a DH7 can replace my group 65...
Sounds like a good question for "Optima Jim" on instagram!
Aloha Jason do you know if the h7 will fit in the jl?
Howdy, yes... same exact procedure as this video!
Hey dude, are you interested in Jeep headlights sponsorship collab?
No thanks. I have great headlights.
@@AutoEdits Okay. Let us know if you're interested in off -roading lights or other Jeep accessories.
Now, with the larger battery, would an upgrade on the alternator be required?
What is the output of your current alternator?
The stock alternator is absolutely fine to charge this battery. This jeep charges around 14.5v after a startup and settles into the mid 13v range.
What was wrong with the DH6....you had it for 6 years?
The old battery is still in perfect shape and I will put it in my Corvette.
Do you have any issues with your old H6 and the negative battery terminal ? Mine has been a little loose with the factory wiring since I bought it l. It’s just barley too small for a spacer so I’m looking into a new battery terminal
I never had an issue with that but have seen enough comments to know it is relatively common.
Hey! What axle widths did you get for your JK? And what tires are you on now? Thanks!
Stock width Rubicon axles with BFG 37x13.5 th-cam.com/video/_1iKfd567WQ/w-d-xo.html
@@AutoEdits ah thanks! I only saw your front axle video. No rubbing issues at stock width on 37s?
It's good. Offset on wheels will effect rubbing so getting that all dialed in is important.
@@AutoEdits thanks for the reply!
Do any JK’s have the second auxiliary battery like the JL’s?
JK's do not have aux batteries as far as I know.
What happened to the ram
Sold it to a friend a few years ago.
Yeah, I like overkill.
😂👍
Is the Tahoe gone?
Yes. The new owner has been enjoying it in the desert.
