Hi from Spain, lovely painting tutorial. I am 67 yrs old and in July of this yesr 2021 started to have a go at acrylic painting. Purely to help distract my mind during a sudden attack of depression. I am pleased to say that I am feeling much better now. The last time I did any artwork was back at school in the late 60s. Watching various artists such as yourself have given me the inspiration to continue but I have a lot to learn. Many thanks ianapolis.

I just love your work. I used to paint a lot in my younger days but gave it up as I moved into a seniors small apt...but just ran out last week and bought some paint and supplies and will try to paint again...Did I mention I am almost 89 yrs young and starting all over again. Thank you.

You know although I'm retired from teaching now ,after 40 years ,I do miss it. I only wish I had listened to your videos and tried painting years ago.
I suffer from deep depression and I wanted to say that you have helped me enormously. It's not just the painting itself, it's the anticipation beforehand. The excitement at creating something beautiful even if it turns out like shirt.
I also view everything in a different way now ,clouds, the sky, trees, flowers. It's as if scales have fallen from my eyes viewing everything in a creative way.

2 things.
First I didnt know the 15 second rule for ads.
Second I ended up with an edge from tape and just turned it into a far away wave. Love your work. It has inspired this old fart.

By the way, I think you may be hitting the sweet spot for beginners like me. A variety of easier paintings without really intricate components ( like a highly detailed sailing ship with rigging that would take a month to do ). AND, narration/instruction which some leave out and just give you background music.

Love your videos and your accent...beautiful paintings
I get more from following Ian than any other acrylic painting instructor. Ian makes laying on colour for the background as you would for oils. I am sure he uses a gesso to help the acrylic stick, I have issues with the paint lifting off if it is not dry enough. Still with much practice I prefer his style.(as a beginner) Love the way he paints backlighting on clouds,(see 13:00 in this video to see how real he makes clouds)
