Why this tough love works is because it’s rooted in absolute belief in her. It isn’t about being right, it’s about reality. Great scene

This has big Jess Mariano "Why did you drop out of Yale" energy.

This is one of the best scenes of any TV show in the last 10 years. The acting. The writing. The message. It's a perfect scene.

This is a way more intense scene than the scene of them getting together. This is highly motivational and also very relatable from the perspective of Midge. You feel like Lenny is not only talking to Midge but also to you, while asking her to wise up. "Don't plan, just work." line was very simple, yet quite of a remarkable part. Not only's it important for the character development and series but also very inspirational and special to me. I don't know, I don't usually like the scenes in the series I watch, where the characters conflict each other. This is my favourite scene in the series so far.

I know he already has one, but can't believe Luke Kirby didn't even get nominated for an emmy for this performance.

THIS scene is about life, not Carnegie Hall or comedy or Midge or Lenny. It has lessons for everyone. I just love it.

This scene is just astonishing, gut-wrenching. Luke Kirby nails it.

This is one of the things that made season 4 so frustrating for me - Midge was almost undeniably in the wrong when she joked about Shy's sexuality at the end of season 3, but instead of recognizing that she was in the wrong and learning from it, she framed herself as the victim for the whole thing. Even when she finally apologized to Shy, she spent the first half of that scene whining about how unfair he and his team had been to her. (Although credit where credit is due, I did appreciate when she told his PR team "screw you guys, I'm not taking money to keep quiet about his sexuality, I'm going to keep quiet about it because it's the right thing to do".)

"You're sure as Fuck you're hiding!"
That line made up for the entire shitshow of a season.

I wonder if that door was intentionally left open at the end, like to symbolise that the opportunity is still there. Maybe it's nothing, but this is what this show does to me 😅

When I watched this I was like FINALLY SOMEONE FUCKING SAID IT I love Midge but she is really stubborn and it's honestly so frustrating at how little she is able to cooperate with the system she is trying to succeed in. She never knows the line, and finally someone outright tells her how badly she fucked up

Thank God he finally called her out on her crap. This entire season was practically unbearable to watch because of Midge and her sulking about thinking that she was actually doing something working at that strip club.
And the fact that she turned down Tony freaking Bennett, just because of pride? She doesn't deserve Lenny Bruce or to be in the comedy business.
