    About The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel: In 1958 New York, Midge Maisel’s life is on track- husband, kids, and elegant Yom Kippur dinners in their Upper West Side apartment. But when her life takes a surprise turn, she has to quickly decide what else she’s good at - and going from housewife to stand-up comic is a wild choice to everyone but her. The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel is written and directed by Amy Sherman-Palladino (Gilmore Girls).
    About Season 4: It's 1960 and change is in the air. Looking to hone her act, Midge finds a gig with total creative freedom. But her commitment to her craft and the places it takes her creates a rift between her and the family and friends around her.

    Honestly "if you blow this midge, I swear to god you will break my f*cking heart" might be the most beautiful declaration of love I've heard. Like, to love someone so much that their success is that important to you, that's just beautiful.

    He believes in her so much.. that’s what makes this scene so perfect. The belief and the faith. Bravo!!

    Midge was desperately in need of a reality check, and I’m glad Lenny was the one to do it.

    This scene alone is a masterclass quality television: writing, acting, camera, lighting. Everything is just perfect to the very last second. Bravo Amy!

      Of the entire run. For sheer beauty the Miami club scene is it's equal. But for acting, sheer genius acting, this is the beginning, middle, and end of everything.

    The single continuous camera work on this scene is almost equal to Luke Kirby's performance. Brilliant.

    He was absolutely right to go off on her the way he did. Midge seemed to think that she could skip all the hard parts of show business, and be a headliner right out of the gate. She should have to scratch and claw her way up like everyone else. And really, who turns down Tony Bennett?!

      I think in part it's because she never had to work for anything b before because everything she wanted had come easy to her. She picked her school, her degree, got the guy she wanted, had the 2 kids. It all was going good for her until that moment she discovered Joel's infidelity. I genuinely don't think she really knew how to work for what wanted because she was privileged.

    Midge's infamous 1971 Carnegie Hall Show was a testament to this manifesto, and that is so cool. It was her way of immortalising Lenny, and of continuing the ingenuity he brought to the world of comedy.

    The amazing significance of what Lenny says at 03:58.
    SPOILER ALERT
    At 03:58, what Lenny says is brilliant foreshadowing for what happens in the series finale, when Maisel spots that microphone during her taping at the Gordon Ford show as that is her ultimate chance to grab. When he says "don't" and does not finish that sentence, that is reminiscent of what Midge wrote in the paper in the bottle when she finished college - DON'T. That don't could mean different things but I feel it could mean "don't" do anything that would limit yourself or your growth or goals in life.

    • @hvalanebesam1226
      @hvalanebesam1226 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      And there was also a "don't" that Hedy Ford said to her, meaning approximately the same - "don't be humble, don't hide yourself". "Don't" is a very important word for Midge :)

    I really loved him ripping her a new one for her behavior and attitude this season, but hated that I wasn’t sure if she got it.
    Her face showed she was hurt and I couldn't tell if she could tell he was hurt or why.

    and this is the reason why the song that plays in their love scene is “someone who cares for me”. That's what Lenny has done for Midge for 4 seasons. Unfortunately he did not allow himself to be cared for.
