My CX-5 2014 (European model) has a CR2025 battery. Thanks to the people in the comments for pointing out the battery model might be different. Also thank you for the simple tutorial. I’d personally avoid using the key to force it open (looked like it could’ve been broken in your video). Just use the same screwdriver on one side and then flip it open.
For all who are complaining about 2032 vs 2025 (the prefix never matters, CR/GR or whatever) the only difference is the thickness, 3.2mm vs 2.5mm (the 2032 is thicker). If the 2032 will fit, it will last a bit longer. The voltage is the same so other than the thickness, it is completely compatible.
Thanks very much for this, shows clearly and exactly how to do it. My AU 2019 CX-5 takes a CR2025 too. For the complainers, why not take the back off your spare key to positively identify which battery you need before buying one?
I have watched countless videos on how to remove the battery, and although the key fob in the video is identical to mine on the outside, it is not on the inside. There is no removeable cover over the battery. It looks like I have to pry it out, but even that is proving difficult. UPDATE: Prying open the fob was opening the back instead of the front.
Thanks for the video but I just bought the wrong batteries as a result. Mine was also CR2025. I don't blame content creator as much as I do Mazda for not just telling us on the inside of the casing where all the other labeling is. Sure we could have first opened it, but only to have to put it back together to drive to the nearest electronic store? These key fobs are pretty fragile if you continue to open and close these units.
The key in one of the key fobs do not come out even though I swipe down the little release button. I have no problem with the 2nd key fob. Pls advise a solution. Thx
Thank you for your comment, but you have to check the battery first, then you buy it. In this video we just showing you the procedure on how to remove the battery, not what battery you need to replace it. I understand that the key fob is the same but the battery is different for each Mazda model.
Big dislike ! 1. The manner of battery replacing is not ok → the key fob have to be detached using carefully the screwdriver round the sides not introducing the metal part of the key between the parts' 2. Mandatory the new battery has to have the same code no as the old one. If you put a CR2032 instead CR2025, the battery protection cap is not fully in contact with the rubber O ring so in the future the electronic circuits can be damaged by humidity.
Sorry, you could tell me what is the correct way to open the key to access the buttons and replace the case since it is damaged. I would greatly appreciate it.
Agree with you, wrong to start by the thin edge, you may be broke it So the video is wrongly complicated since you just need to gently put the blade all around the key
Jeez, whoever designed this key remote needs to be fired. I tried to replace it first time, and it cracked the side of my remote. Why can't they just add a latch just like when you take out the key. Or just add a small screw to open it.
The battery not the original ! The battery originally is Panasonic so the owner maybe change the wrong number battery that why 2032 (the number should be 2025 )
Excellent tutorial. Thank you!
Thank you for the feedback!

Check the battery. My battery is CR2025 not CR2032. Other videos show CR2025, so don't buy your battery until you take the old battery out to check.
CX3 2016: CR2025
To late: I had to go shopping twice ';-)
CX-5 2014 (European model) has CR2025 as well
2019 cx3 2025
2020 CX-3, CR2025 but I did get a CR2032 to fit.
Saved me €220 at the local mazda dealer.
Thank you.
Thank you too for watching!

Same car same battery 👍
You can use either a 2025 or 2032, they are almost identical in size.
@@markh4473😮😅😮😮
Tqvm 4 the useful tip sir
Thanks for the video helped a lot
My 2017 Cx-3 battery key fob required a CR2025 battery. Clearly labeled within the Fob.
2016 CX5 does too

Used a CR 2025 for a 2018 CX-9.
Akash Chanda Thanks for the info!
£1 pack batteries from Poundland and a nail file or £30 Mazda garage... awesome thanks

Is this the same size battery for all off that car..?
Do not use the key blade to separate the key fob in half ! Use the hard card
Yes, I just worked a small blade around the perimeter.
The key in one of the key fobs do not come out even though I swipe down the little release button. I have no problem with the 2nd key fob. Pls advise a solution. Thx
Why giving a wrong info, battery CR2032 didn't match my cx3 key fob was needed a CR 2025, I'll have to go back and change it now
I replaced the battery with a correct battery for my Mazda 3 keyless entry remote, but the remote still doesn't work. Any suggestions?
Thanks for the video. My battery is different for my CX-5, it is a GR2025. So I would take it apart and check it first. Thanks
Good video
Thank you!
It is cr2025 now for the new models
Thank you for your feedback!
always have a hard large guitar pick ready when prying electronics snaps
I confirm, it's CR2025 in Europe!
Thank you for your ferdback!
Ty ❤
Danke☺️
Just did it with two pins on either side to hold it open then key to pry it open like the video I am god 😂😂😂
Very bad. I just bought the battery based on this video. CX3 needs CR2025😞

2014 cx 5 needs a 2025 not 2032 - there goes that money 🙈
Chelsea L Thanks for the info!
2032 is used by so many things I am sure you will find a home for it.
2032 still works! I pulled 2025 out and put in 2032👍🏼 That’s in a 2015 CX5🍻
CR 2025 for the Mazda 6 2018 version
Thank you for your comment!
Check with your car book they will tell you your remote battery number
Mazda CX3 2017.
Battery CR 2025.
Why most they make things so difficult 😅
The actual battery should be CR 2025 not CR2032.

Because Mazda wants you to spend money at the dealer service center. That's where they make most of their $€£¥$!
Omg …. So difficult 😢
"Use the key blade to separate the the key fob in half." Worst advice ever. Do this only if you want to break a side off.
The battery not the original ! The battery originally is Panasonic so the owner maybe change the wrong number battery that why 2032 (the number should be 2025 )
This might be the most frustrating how to video I’ve seen. You don’t need to show us the key 20 times.
Crap music
Pataka.. 2025 man intawon.. Naka gasto nuon ko.. 2032
This is the dumbest way to open it, you will damage the plastic on your key
