    Mate, you’re a bloody legend as you’ve saved me $165 to do a 5 min job. Who knew the Mazda emblem on the fob came out and a screw was hiding underneath. Thank you so much. Best TH-cam video in years. 👍👍👍

    This is the best video for Mazda key fob replacement because it opens the key-spring assembly and points out the immobilizer. Here are some tips though:
    1. If you are using a new key fob, your new fob won’t work without the immobilizer. The immobilizer is simply a small magnet as pointed out in the video at about 4:15.
    2. Remove the immobilizer by simply turning the opened assembly over and tap it out. In my case it simply dropped out without any extra effort.
    3. If you are using a new fob with a blank key, any professional key cutting service can cut it for you. For me it cost about $10 and took 10 minutes.
    4. Instead of programming a new fob, you can just transfer the battery and electronic components from your old fob to the new one.

    you are the only video that mentioned the mobilizer. I switched a fob & car would not turn over. I've been working on this for hours and not one video mentioned mobilizer chip.
    Thank you so much

    Thank you for helping me save nearly $200 for my 2008 Mazda5 fob replacement. I ordered a generic fob/case form ebay, and had Home Depot copy the key. I used everything from the new fob except the radio circuit and the small part of the old fob that houses the immobilizer, and the old screw for that part. Spent

      How did you have Home Depot copy the key? They usually don’t do keys unless the key is bought from their machine.

    Thank you so much!!! I was panicking when I accidentally broke the tooth part of the key while I was trying to replace the battery... I will follow your instructions! Thanks for the video. You saved me a lot of money and a major headache!!

    Very nice video to show how to change the key & spring. Bad ass looking switch-blade action there Mazda! As a guy who has repaired vehicles from the late 60’s and ASE Master Tech in 1978, please use a finder cover if using the hood as a light duty work bench. It is, at least to me, disrespectful to the customer and protects the finish. Painting the hood on a solid color 10-15 year old vehicle is not easy to match and a lot of work. Also, every good tech has some super glue in the tool box. Right!

    You should at first split the fob part of the key and the second part with electronics however this DYI is useful for those who need to change battery and cannot split mentioned parts because somebody glued them together because of broken hook in fob part. So in this case you can replace a battery by removing upper part of the key (with buttons) as on video at 1:29 min.

    Great video. I didn't know about the inhibitor until I saw your video. Now my key starts the car. Thanks

    Anyone knows how to remove the immobiliser to transfer it to new case ? Unfortunately the video is missing the most important parts

    • @bignamek
      @bignamek หลายเดือนก่อน

      You probably already figured it out, but the immobilized is just a magnet in a small slot that was pointed out in the video. To remove it, you can simply turn the opened fob upside down and it should drop right out. At least it did for me.

    I don't tend to do such projects on the bonnet of my car - high risk of scratching and losing something small

    My key fob fell out of my pocket and fell on the ground and everything came apart. I put it back together but for the life of me it would not turn. After watching this I realize the immobilizer fell out and it was so small I did not notice. Do you know if I can buy only the immobilizer from Mazda?

    Great video! The whole time I was thinking please put everything on a nice clean towel so it wouldn’t scratch the paint or the parts roll off the car. Good job though! 👍

    My Mazda 3 key no longer pop up. Open the key as shown in the video to find out that a plastic part was broken. Searching and found key flip shell on ebay for $3.80. Thanks a lot.

    So the immobilizer is linked to the circuit board correct? If you are just swapping the key then the immobilizer and the circuit board must be paired?

    Can you explain what the immobilizer is or does because i dont know why my key cannot start the car anymore 😭

    • @darkherostar
      @darkherostar 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      when you put your key into the ignition. The immobilizer is just a small transmitter, it sends out a signal to a receiver in the ignition area, and that tells the car that the key is the 'match' to the computer car memory records and allows it to start. if you simply flip around the silver key and forget to take the immobilizer with it, that silver key will fit the ignition...but no transmitter means the car computer will think your key is 'invalid' and won't allow the car to start. that's about all i know from googling it all. hope that helps. best of luck!

    Clip the point off a small nail and drift out the pin. It's not in there super tight and it's way easier than fking with that spring.

    How the hell do you get the spring to match up with key before putting together, total crap.

    • @brianflansburg8934
      @brianflansburg8934 ปีที่แล้ว

      The spring should be attempting to force the key open and the button should prevent it
