Top Thrill 2 uses LSMs to launch trains which are more reliable as there is no physical contact with the trains. TT2 will have much less downtime due to this.
Well, this is what happens when you use Zamperla. Saw it coming with all the problems Wild Mouse had all season last year. Hopefully Cedar Fair goes back to Intamin, they would have done a much better job.
@@AnthonyCP-si6ciI know. Time to bury the hatchet. Imagine if Cedar Point had a Hagrid's or something similar. It would be amazing. But no, they keep investing into this money pit of a coaster.

Was there in 2003 at the opening day for TTD. Have been every year since it opened, and not once has it been closed down when I was there. I’m a season pass holder and go multiple times a year. Crazy telling that 8 days into its life it’s down for more than just a few hours at the park. I guess a flat ride company wasn’t the savior everyone thought it would be.
I’m going June 14th and the main reason why I planned my trip was for Top Thrill 2. So, hopefully this issue clears up in about a month. I’ve been to Cedar Point about 3 times now (sadly was not able to ride original Dragster even though I did go twice in 2019) and I really want to ride my first strata coaster.
I've been to CP twice and got to ride Dragster twice, but Dragster for me wasn't all the interesting. was over way to quick. TT2 looks much more fun. You'll get to ride it I"m sure.

You're getting more ride experience, a new unique element (to the ride) that's the largest of its kind in the world. Don't forget that TT2 is *still* the 2nd tallest and 3rd fastest rollercoaster in the entire world. I'll take the tradeoff for sure! I would've gotten more rides on Dragster if it didn't spend 90% of its time shut down. I'm confident I could get more rides on TT2 in one day than I did on Dragster in 4 days total.
To my understanding, the straight track is still original. Please let me be wrong!! I also watched as they built all last year & I never saw them replace it. However, parts went on as soon a they got em, & there's all off-season as well. But I've seen multiple videos online (take with grain of salt) stating str8 track is original. Really hope I'm wrong!
i think the launch/break plates on trains are overheating as they are doing twice the work now, so after to many launches the heat makes it not clear tower, they need to blast AC onto fins,
I feel for everyone that went and it was closed. I live 20 minutes from there and couldn't imagine traveling from out of town/state/country only to have it be closed
At Winter Chill out, they were having issues unlocking the restraints when they shouldn't have even been locking at the time because they had the battery attached. I assumed they got that all sorted out and it was just because the train wasn't on the track, but maybe that's still an issue they are having? I have no idea, I'm just guessing based off of what I know.
Im going to guess here but a cracked wheel could very well be caused and the actual cause if it's own issue. I keep saying it, they increased the height of the train which increased drag, and in turn created a high center of gravity causing the trains to shimmy. Road wheels being aluminum take all the shimmy on the center of that hub. The OG trains I believe ran a 17 inch road wheel. If they were to shorten up the roads, it would get the ride height down on the train, and in turn the hub of the wheels would be stronger. This would help eliminate the shimmy, give a little bigger safety envelope for the trains and take some wind resistance out of the equation
Only problem with shorter road wheels would be shortening their life cycle. I don't think that was ever a big issue before on the OG trains. Main thing would be to find a high speed compound urethane, probably something similar to before or like what mellinium runs on its road wheel
@@robertstephens5185They should use the same wheels thats on Formula Rossa. That thing goes 149mph so those wheels should be able to take the abuse from TT2.
@@Coasterfan71 that compound outta work. I just thought of another variable too. Can't just change out to shorter wheels unless they built adjustment or multi hole mounts for the guide wheels. Not only that, but at least three seats on that train were tagged off and not available for guests. It was such a good and smooth ride, so I hope whatever the issue, it’s resolved quickly!
I'm curious... do you mean it stopped on its 1st launch? 91mph up, & when it came down backwards, before going up the spike, & before the 120mph launch, THAT'S when it abruptly stopped? If so that may have been just a singular initial launch test, which is normal. Otherwise that would be very worrisome!
