I've made some 3D models for iPhone 5s and 7 cases and for that I exactly recreated the phones in cad based on the official Apple Accessory Design files. That was a ton of work lol. I don't have a 3D printer so I don't know how well the cases would fit

I think most phone manufacterers don't do that. I had a OnePlus One and that was pretty hard to design a case for. They did have a perfectly accurate 3D model and even did a 3D Printing contest :)

I have a Pixel phone and while I absolutely love it, there are so few options for phone cases, and unless you dig really really deep, the only cases you can find are solid colour. I'd love to one day make a customised one.

thanks for sharing your process, I learned a couple things there. I designed my cases for the Google Pixel XL in a different way.
Would you be willing to test a few different flexible filaments for phone cases? I made one for the iphone 7 plus from sainsmart tpu and it's ok but I think I can do better. There's just so many variables... how elastic is the filament(no one seems to list this info), how much infill and what pattern to use for better drop protection, and other design/printing techniques that will help produce a better phone case to protect your phone.

How do you get the lines so perfect when you trace it? I try it on a different picture and I can't seem to get it right.
