Guys if he's making it too fast it's the Simone unit. He just made six piece boxes and glued them together into those shapes. You can save time and paper by figured out the surface area and then make that amount of pieces. Then but then into the specific shape the piece will be in and your done. Takes a while though.
You can cut down on the amount of paper you use as well as the need for glue/something to stick the cubes together by just attaching the units so they form the shape you need. That way you subtract all of the units that are "facing" each other so you don't see them (which is a waste) making it a minimum of 120 instead of 162. If you have 15x15cm origami paper (which is what I'm using) cut into four, it means you only need 30 sheets instead of 40 and a half. I'm sorry if you don't get how to do it though, it's hard to explain over text.
Here's a tip. Don't use Sonobe units, it takes up too much paper. According to my math, it would take you 162 sheets of paper to finish the whole thing. You should go to your local crafting store and get 27 wooden cubes instead, it looks nicer, you can paint it, and all you need is some wood glue as well, and you're all set!
You can shorten it to 120 because you can connect them directly to each other to make those shapes, cutting the need for the papers that are "facing" each other and aren't seen from the outside, and the need for glue. Of course, it still depends on how patient you are (if you wanna do this, wooden cubes or even the video method) but for me, it only took two days to complete and 30 sheets (15x15 cut into four to make 120). It would take 40 and a half sheets using the video's method which is 10,5 more than needed, and assuming you're like me and pay for pretty paper you don't want to waste those since they're not even going to be seen at all. Would recommend using slightly sturdier paper though, as the pieces are going to be completely hollow in my case, and depending on how big you make the pieces it might make them flimsy.
those people are really lame, especially when it's really not that hard to assemble sonobe units together to form those shapes.. but whatever, lazy bunch i guess..
Thank you for sharing! I guess the 6 parts of each cube are Sonobe units? Is this puzzle your own creation? I would like to present this model at an exhibition in September. I think visitors might like trying to solve this puzzle! Would you allow me do to so? If you agree with it, how should I call this model, and what name should I mention for the creator?
I KNOW RIGHT...I want regular origami paper, but I can find it. Sometimes I use construction paper, but I have to measure and cut off the bottom. dmkdnebdiekekfodkeid

No. This is a different type of puzzle. This is fitting the pieces together to form a 3d cube from "Tetris" like shapes.
This is what happens when you combine the rubiks cube and tetris together
I like your video but tell me how to join them
Time consuming but it is very fun and neat
cool! That was so cool
I made it out of wood and the product of it is amazing
that is cool
I was expecting something like a turnable rubic's cube
nisnegativeone either glue or double sided tape

Or you can just use seamless cubes
I just made the 27 paper cubes, and i dont think that wood would be quite as mutch satisving at the end :)
MrRyan2582 origami is all about patience
MrRyan2582 i agree but i am a kid so i prefer using paper and i have a full stack of origami

AMAZING! How do you put them together?
Then that is not origami... It is sad to see people who say "origami" but includes tape or glue

I Have only one problem with the video, how did you get the peces together

I tried making this, I can't because I don't have any patience to do it.
for each individual cube: 6 X (5x5cm) paper... total for puzzle 27 individual cubes x6 = 162 sheets of 5x5 paper..!
Show how to stick them
