  • Having trouble? Try my slower tutorial here: • Origami Seamless Cube ...
    [Intermediate] How to fold a cube that does not have any creases or folds on any of the faces. This is my version of the classic cube from a 4X4 grid which was independently designed by Kazuo Haga, Kunihiko Kasahara, John Montroll and Jacob Ewing, all of whose cubes slightly differ but share the same basic structure and locking mechanism. I also designed a seamless octahedron and taught it here: • One-Piece Origami Octa...
    The final closing of the cube is a little hard to follow in this video, so I did a redo of just the final part: • Seamless Cube Redo

    to all those criticising the video, maybe you just didn't listen to the instructions properly. The video was very clear and the man took pains to be extremely clear at every single point. Perhaps the problem isn't his video but you are simply not very good at origami, or need to learn more basic models first. This model, in my opinion, is not meant for beginners (and the heading never said it was, anyway) but is more suitable for those already with experience in origami. Go learn the basics first, then come back. I assure you, this video's very clear.

    Happy Hanukkah/Merry Christmas/ Happy holidays!
    I'm still trying to make an Origami/Paper Rubik's Cube. I've made some progress while on my vacation (I just can't take a break when it comes to Origami! XD), and this method of solving Cubes has been really helpful. I've previously resorted to folding Pandora cubes after failing to fold enough Sonobe pieces, but these cubes are a lot easier and less time consuming to fold compared to the Pandora cubes due to the 4x4 grid. Not to mention the better creaseless finish and the bigger size!

      ***** I gave that a good try. I was especially happy with my core (the X, Y, Z Axes. It was from six squares that all locked together by their corners, so it looked like 6 Vincent Floderer mushrooms all attached together. The ends of the axes (the centers of the squares) were squashed into 16-gons and I covered them with the Rubik's cube middle pieces, which were the easiest pieces to make. They rotated very securely on the 16-gons. The side and corner pieces were super difficult and required some seriously complex box pleating! The idea of having to make 12 side pieces and 8 corner pieces was enough to make me bail on the project and then even if I did manage to complete it, I would have had to color them with a marker, ouch! I basically ran out of patience. Good luck on your attempt.

    • @greenart4110
      @greenart4110 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wow! Sounds intense!
      My attempt isn't as Origami-ish as yours, I'm not really constricting myself to pure Origami (for obvious reasons, seeing as you yourself didn't want to make the edges and corners :P), but the core was something that I struggled a lot with personally, it took me a while to make it, and the method I used (Charles Santee/firstfold's cube twisting method) didn't turn out too good because of my weak paper (figures), so I resorted to a rubber band based mechanism that connects a sonobe piece and a Rubik's Cube center through the center or the pieces by a rubber band, and I'd do that with all 6 centers and eventually I'd connect the sonobes and viola. The result was pretty cool!
      Though I'd love to see yours, can you show it in one of your future Q&A vids or something?
      And another question, is it possible to make non-cubic box shapes with the method in the video?

      Jasmine Hall You can cut a square of paper from a sheet of printer paper. To cut it perfectly square use a second sheet as a guide... put it on top of the first sheet and turn it 90 degrees. Line up the edges and cut off the part that is sticking out.
