So I picked up a bottle of Ocho blanco and made a margarita with it and completely blown away by it ! I appreciate you explaining all your choices and why. Thank you for upping my tequila game. I now feel more confident going down the tequila isle and picking out something good that most people will walk past. Cheers !
I don’t know what the deal is but Cimarron is doing wonders on me. Can’t believe this thing is sooooo good. The flavors are so weirdly good is ridiculous already. Got the repo and it is sweet, I like sweet in tequila. Made a margarita today and my wife looked at my like I went somewhere. I guess it is a taste I like. Can’t wait to try the añejo.
-1 for Lalo, I was definitely underwhelmed...esp for the price. May I kindly suggest Arette, Real Del Valle, El Bandido Yankee and Tapatio regular and HP blancos. All excellent additive free blanco😊 mixers also a great price points. Salud!
I really wished we in Europe had that many choices. I'd like to try Cimarron, Arette & 3 agaves to compare best blanco for Margarita & Paloma. Thank you for the recommandations
I made a Margarita with the Arette blanco ... and it was an epiphany! Sipped on its own, the Arette has a subtle caramel note that shines through even more beautifully in a Margarita (forget the Reposado) ... Cheers!
I find that Grand Marnier works really well with Arette. It smooths and rounds it out better than Cointreau.. for me. I like Clémont Créole Shrubb in general for Tiki Drinks but not with Arette.
Just discovered your channel / instagram and I have to admit; I did not know about your game so big respect / big ups. I feel like I have discovered Tequila all over again while admitting that I've been doing it ALL WRONG by drinking Costo/Kirkland tequila. Thank you for setting me on the right path. I will be buying some of these Tequilas in my near future. Thank you, a new subscriber.
Been making Margaritas with Lalo… it’s such a versatile tequila… good for sipping… and definitely shines in any drink I’ve made, and I’m not even a good bartender 😅
I know that’s the classic recipe but man Cointreau is so sweet you don’t need the extra sugar. I prefer pierre ferrand dry curaçao in my marg because it is less sweet and has a much more natural rich tasting orange flavor and I still don’t find the need to add simple P.S. I just tried the arette fuerte artesanal 101 blanco as my current margarita pour and it slaps!
you swallowed each shot... lol waiting to see if youre slurring towards the end. lol. Thanks so much for sharing. ive only heard of two of these and tried one. loved learning about these new options. Thanks again.
Right now my favorite tequila for margaritas is Tapatio. It’s a little more expensive than Cimarron but it has a wonderful crisp rich cooked agave flavor with just the right amount of citrus flavor to it, and it’s additive free. It’s made at La Alteña where Tequila Ocho was started and also where El Tesoro is still made.
I generally wouldn't use expensive spirits in a cocktail but good quality and no additives. I like 1. Arette 2. Tapatio, 3. Tres Agaves as inexpensive mixers. I'm sure there are many more good options. You have to mix the right orange liquor with the right tequila too.
Just picked up a bottle of lalo blanco. Making margaritas at family beach trip. Do you have any batch recipes so I’m not mixing drinks one after another? Thanks! Great video btw
Thank you for upping my margarita game! Your videos are very informative and well done. I don't like adding a lot of agave because of the health concerns in the recent news. So it's more of a skinny margarita.
I finally got my first bottles of Fortaleza blanco and repo. Of course I was blowing away for the quality and craftsmanship ofthis amazing brand. And I did the unthinkable. I made a margarita with the blanco and things happen in my brain. Just saying. I am in trouble now, cause Fortaleza is very difficult to get and pricey 😢
I share your sentiments, man. I wouldn't want to put a whole bottle of really nice booze into cocktails, but I will absolutely make one or two. If you really enjoy cocktails, make it with great ingredients! The purists can go keep pretending to be sommeliers and get made fun of by normal people who just, you know, enjoy their drinks!
Lalo tequila blanco 750ml is $26.99 in L.A. I just bought 8 bottles. Also, I can confirm tequila Ocho in a margarita is BOMB! Probably the best to have in a margarita then other tequilas. Casa dragones blanco was close to tequila Ocho in a margarita but casa dragones is more expensive.
Hmmmmmm that's a great question. It depends. I really enjoy both brands and think they do things incredibly well. El Tequileño is slightly cheaper so it would depend on my budget at the time but it's hard to separate the two tbh.
My wife an eye really enjoy Codigo Blanco for margaritas. Not exactly budget friendly. 54.99 at total wine.saw it 10 bucks less somewhere else. Also bought the anejo of tres agaves. Not really a fan. Im about to pour one right now and give it another go. I didn’t like tequila ocho at first. The flavor grew on me. It is smooth af.
Not sure if youve ever reviewed it or talked about it but whats your opinion on herradura. Ive used it for margaritas in the past but wasnt sure if it was actually a viable option. Ive been using tequila ocho for margatritas as of late tho
Don't Hate Me... I am just asking. What about those, ummm.... Margaritas mixes? like the Jose Cuervo or others, then just add tequila? AWESOME VIDEO!!!
If you want to see how drastically different a fresh margarita really is. Buy one of those mixes. And then make an actual fresh margarita and taste them side by side. You'll never buy one of those pre mixes again haha
I didn't realize you should have simple syrup in a Margarita. I'll have to give it a try, since the only Margarita I ever made only had tequila, triple sec and lime and that wasn't too much of enjoyment for me. I can't get my hands on your tequilas over here in Finland but it sure would be nice to know if they tase very much different from Patron for example. I'm still trying to find the part in me that enjoys tequila, but I do enjoy your videos and your attitude (agave comment)!
Tres Agaves and Cimarron punch WAY out of their price range, really confirms that price means nothing when it comes to tequila quality. I prefer them to offerings more than double their price. Not the best I've ever had, but I can actually afford to keep them on my shelf at all times, and do so happily!
I’m hoping one of these days you get to review the Santo tequila. It’s Guy Fieri and Sammy Hagar’s brand and one, if not the only, celebrity tequilas to be additive free
El Tequlieno should of been the honorable mention than Tres Agaves. Compared to it Tres Agaves really lacked in a classic margarita and flavored margarita compared to El Tequileno. It didn’t have that kick blanco tequila usually have when it came to Tres agaves.
Olmeca Altos reposado is my favorite mixer tequila. Cheap. Still made the traditional way in stone ovens. The result is a robust agave flavor, yet smooth. Literally everything else worthwhile under $40 is made by diffuser or autoclave (not that autoclave is necessarily a bad method). Diffuser tequila like Cazadores just isn't even worth it... When I'm feeling fancy, Tequila Ocho reposado and Tromba reposado are my go-to's.
So I picked up a bottle of Ocho blanco and made a margarita with it and completely blown away by it ! I appreciate you explaining all your choices and why. Thank you for upping my tequila game. I now feel more confident going down the tequila isle and picking out something good that most people will walk past. Cheers !
Happy that you feel that way friend 😁🙏 glad I helped a bit
I don’t know what the deal is but Cimarron is doing wonders on me. Can’t believe this thing is sooooo good.

Got the repo and it is sweet, I like sweet in tequila. Made a margarita today and my wife looked at my like I went somewhere.
I guess it is a taste I like. Can’t wait to try the añejo.
Tres Agaves for the WIN... btw, this is made at NOM1614 where Cazcanes is made.
Cimaron is now my regular on the shelf tequila. Absolutely love it and it’s budget friendly.
Thanks for transitioning me to this beauty
-1 for Lalo, I was definitely underwhelmed...esp for the price. May I kindly suggest Arette, Real Del Valle, El Bandido Yankee and Tapatio regular and HP blancos. All excellent additive free blanco😊 mixers also a great price points. Salud!
Listening to you, I got Cimaron Repo for making El Diablo coctail - Excellent price and My new favorite now.
Woo! Happy to hear it!
Lui!! Just met you at tales of cocktails. You are such a kind soul, thank you for your content! I appreciate you!
Jovany! Thank you so much for coming over to say hi! It was such a pleasure to meet you as well. Happy you are enjoying the content 😁🙏
How would you rank Espolon blanco for margaritas?
Ive been using cascahuín 48 for an extra kick 😅 tastes amazing
Sounds great! I love Cascahuin
drinking a marg with ocho reposado while watching this, and it is definitely my favorite tequila for mixing
Love that!
I really wished we in Europe had that many choices. I'd like to try Cimarron, Arette & 3 agaves to compare best blanco for Margarita & Paloma. Thank you for the recommandations
I made a Margarita with the Arette blanco ... and it was an epiphany! Sipped on its own, the Arette has a subtle caramel note that shines through even more beautifully

Thanks for the videos! Unfortunately, we can’t get Fortaleza here 😢
Yeah it's a tough one to find
Just discovered your channel / instagram and I have to admit; I did not know about your game so big respect / big ups. Cheers friend! That makes me so happy to read 😁🙏🏼 I'm happy you've been enjoying the content
Cimarron is amazing in a Margarita, also love it for sipping the nose is floral and agave punch, can't beat the price.
It really is!
Been making Margaritas with Lalo… it’s such a versatile tequila… good for sipping… and definitely shines in any drink I’ve made, and I’m not even a good bartender 😅
It's such a great versatile spirit indeed! My thoughts exactly 😁🙏
I’m def getting a bottle as margaritas are my fav especially Cadillacs
Arette Repo is $23 here for the 750ml and wins blinds over Fortaleza at times. The blanco Liter is also excellent and $27.
Love Arette Suave Rep as well
Well thought out choices, great values
Thank you! I thought about this one quite a bit!
I know it’s not traditional, but I love a making a margarita with 1/2 blanco tequila and 1/2 anejo. Great combination of flavors.
I know that’s the classic recipe but man Cointreau is so sweet you don’t need the extra sugar. I prefer pierre ferrand dry curaçao in my marg because it is less sweet and has a much more natural rich tasting orange flavor and I still don’t find the need to add simple
P.S. I just tried the arette fuerte artesanal 101 blanco as my current margarita pour and it slaps!
I hear ya, although I've more than come to terms with using Cointreau for the wifey's sake.
Omg I just tried my Cimarron blanco and made a margarita it is quite good but in Canada it's about $52 Canadian. Glad you talked about it
What is your recipe for a Cadillac margarita?
you swallowed each shot... lol waiting to see if youre slurring towards the end. lol. Thanks so much for sharing. ive only heard of two of these and tried one. loved learning about these new options. Thanks again.
Sipped, not swallowed.
I got some Tequila Ocho and it made the best marg I've ever had. I can recommend It enough
Happy to hear that friend! Happy you enjoyed it!
Great video! Quick question Lui, where can I get that gold shaker from… thank you!!
ABarAbove! There's a link in the description of this video!
We had a game night friends with a Latin theme tonight. My contribution was your recipe. We used Cabo Wabo
Right now my favorite tequila for margaritas is Tapatio. It’s made at La Alteña where Tequila Ocho was started and also where El Tesoro is still made.
I know this is a late comment, but appreciate this video and using something other than 1800 or Teramana
You finally got a proper glass for sipping Tequila! ❤
Good Tequila choices for margaritas 🍹 also Arette a liter for 25.
Arette is a legit incredible option. I ran out a few weeks back
I just bought Lalo and Tres Agaves. They are both amazing. Looking forward to making margaritas with them. Ever try Tequila Casadores??
Thanks for mentioning these brands. I'll definitely get better tequila brands in the future
I generally wouldn't use expensive spirits in a cocktail but good quality and no additives. I like
1. Arette 2. Tapatio, 3. Tres Agaves as inexpensive mixers. I'm sure there are many more good options.
You have to mix the right orange liquor with the right tequila too.
Olmeca Altos will also suffice.
el tequileno as well
@@kievan84 : I've heard good things but haven't tried it yet.
@@lrvogt1257 cimarron, El tequileno, and arette are my GO TO mixer with budget friendly option.
What kind of glasses are you using. I like them. Looking to add them to my collection
Those are glencairn glasses, traditional for sipping whiskey neat but works for all spirits. Concentrates the nose and makes for a great tasting glass
Yeah, Lalo is legit! I haven't tried it in a margarita yet, though. But it's great on its own as a sipper, or with just a little lime.
Enjoying your tequila review videos. Hopefully soon you make one of best tequilas to make "Palomas"
When using agave nectar in a Tommy’s Margarita should you use light or dark agave?
I made margs on Monday and did 3:2 oz tequila to lime juice and it was perfect. I've never done 2:1 tequila to lime juice
Just picked up a bottle of lalo blanco. Making margaritas at family beach trip. Do you have any batch recipes so I’m not mixing drinks one after another? Thanks! Great video btw
Multiply the recipe at the beginning of this video times the number of drinks you want to make. Make it, put it in a jug or a container.
Lui!!! What do you know about brand colores de oaxaca, it’s my first taste of mezcal! I went for the espadin but I can’t find out anything about them!
Thank you for upping my margarita game! Your videos are very informative and well done. I don't like adding a lot of agave because of the health concerns in the recent news. So it's more of a skinny margarita.
Thank you! Happy you're enjoying the videos!
Pulling back on the sweetness is actually an excellent way to make a Margarita even more delicious!
Can you please review James Gin (James May from Top Gear / Grand Tour) Asian Parsnip or American Ramstud?
I finally got my first bottles of Fortaleza blanco and repo. Of course I was blowing away for the quality and craftsmanship ofthis amazing brand. And I did the unthinkable.
I made a margarita with the blanco and things happen in my brain. Just saying. I am in trouble now, cause Fortaleza is very difficult to get and pricey 😢
Nothing wrong with making a margarita with a tequila that is amazing. After all, it's your bottle, do what you want with it.
The blanco and the repo ... Oh, somebody broke the bankj!
Idk what state your in but all those bottles cost more in Ohio and Ky.. great choices doe!!
FYI Siete Leguas is amazing for margaritas, if you buy them at Sam’s Club yes Siete Leguas is for sale at Sam’s Club in So Cal!
I only use Agave syrup with my Tequila cocktails 😋👍
Lalo tequila blanco 750ml is $26.99 in L.A. I just bought 8 bottles. Also, I can confirm tequila Ocho in a margarita is BOMB! Probably the best to have in a margarita then other tequilas. Casa dragones blanco was close to tequila Ocho in a margarita but casa dragones is more expensive.
Lalo is 49 in GA
@rgat5213 normally it's $39.99 but this store in Hollywood Ca is selling them for $26.99 right now.
Woah! What a steal!
Ocho was a insanely good in a margarita.
@williamfreitag9232 I would say Tequila Ocho is the best in a margarita over any other Tequila.
Hey man, if you only had 2 choices ... El Tesoro or El Tequileno, which one are you buying??? I have had El Tesoro Blanco and loved it
Hmmmmmm that's a great question.
What do you think of 30-30 Tequila? It is new on the additive free list and it cost unter 30€ for blanco and reposado. Should I try?
So it’s so unfortunate that only 2 of these I can get in Michigan :( I wanna try cimmaron and chamucos so bad but no one has em 😢
Not sure if youve ever reviewed it or talked about it but whats your opinion on herradura. Ive used it for margaritas in the past but wasnt sure if it was actually a viable option. Ive been using tequila ocho for margatritas as of late tho
Herradura is good for Margaritas. Herradura does say they are additive free. Not sure if that's 100% true.
Best tequila for the money is Ocho and Suerte hands down. It’s also some of the best tasting of all the brands regardless of price.
What about Don Julio and Patron blanco? I like them both but I'm not an expert 😢
100 times out of 10. I'd pick any of the ones here before I picked up a bottle of Patron. I'd legit never use Don Julio for anything.
I'll have to try the Cimarron Blanco, the nose and taste of the Repo was a huge turn off for me.
Total wine cimarron is 34.99
Not in MA.
Tequila Ocho. Hands down.
Those mixers are garbage.
Lui I bummed out man😢😢😢 in ohio I can't get Cimarron at our local state store 😫😫😫
Awesome
Recommended early on New Year’s Eve…. I see what you did there TH-cam 😅
Can I use honey instead of simple syrup?
Honey would be a really bad choice.
My favorite tequila is Jose Tradicional Repesado.. *forgive the spelling* :)😊
Love you tequila videos.🍹
Thank you! 😁🙏 Happy you enjoy them!
It it's good for sipping, it's good for cocktails.
I generally agree with that!
What anejo, if any, would you use in cocktails, and what cocktails would those be? Maybe next video?
For the price Tres Agaves añejo is perfect for cocktails and it's a dope añejo for the price..
Cointreau & agave syrup ... de nada
Patron doesn't taste like anything, boring.
I like to do 1.5 oz of tequila, 0.75 oz of lime, 0.3-0.5 oz of agave syrup, and 0.5 oz float of Grand Mariner.
review el destilador!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Tres Agaves and Cimarron punch WAY out of their price range, really confirms that price means nothing when it comes to tequila quality. I prefer them to offerings more than double their price. Not the best I've ever had, but I can actually afford to keep them on my shelf at all times, and do so happily!
When is the Mezcal roundup?
What about centenario?
Use yo work at Tres Agave in San Francisco
From your 5 list only Cimarron is available in Germany 😮
a little too repetitive with the words “absolutely incredible” ..other than that, vid is spot on
Fair enough! Hahaha I gotta buy me a thesaurus 😅
I’m hoping one of these days you get to review the Santo tequila. It’s Guy Fieri and Sammy Hagar’s brand and one, if not the only, celebrity tequilas to be additive free
It's bad.
I think u meant 6, TRES AGAVE
El Tequlieno should of been the honorable mention than Tres Agaves. Compared to it Tres Agaves really lacked in a classic margarita and flavored margarita compared to El Tequileno. It didn’t have that kick blanco tequila usually have when it came to Tres agaves.
Just too many names to choose from. In the end,Sauza is ok, nice Chevrolet of Tequilas. Or a Herradura maybe also.
Do you generally prefer blanco or reposado for margaritas?
For a regular Marg, def Blancos
I no longer listen to this guy's opinion.
El tesoro Blanco, tequila ocho Blanco.
