- In this video, I'm ranking 30+ tequilas and telling you what I think about each one. From cheap tequilas to super luxurious tequilas, I tested them all and ranked them from worst to best in a Tier List going from F all the way to A!
I drink each tequila and rank it based on taste, quality, and overall enjoyment. Not only will you learn about the different tequilas out there, but you'll also learn some interesting facts about each one. So if you're looking for a good Tequila drinking challenge, then look no further!
Whether you're looking for a beginner's guide to tequila or you just want to know my opinion on a certain brand, this video is for you! I'll tell you what I liked and didn't like about each tequila, so you can make the best choice for your drinking pleasure!

I have maybe a glass worth left of my 2022 Winter Blend, I can’t bring myself to finish it because then it will be gone. I feel like I’ll spend the rest of my life looking for something that comes close, the caramel and agave sweetness are just incredible. It’s proof that a good tequila’s subtle natural sweetness is far better than additive sweetness.
Savor that! It really was incredible. I am going to savor my last bottle.
Great video with spot-on rankings Lui. My personal favorites that I've been able to try are G4 and El Tesoro. As for cheaper options Tres Agaves and Omelca Altos are great for their value.

Glad I found this video/channel. I wasn’t a huge fan of tequila but it turns out I have been tasting the c to g tiers and had the same reaction you had when drinking them. Time to go find some of your A to S choices.
My favorites are La Mala (60ish) and Exótico Reposado (23ish).
I agree with your ratings and I have tasted most of these. I'd like to see you taste and rate cheap tequils in the $20ish range.

Bro, I bought a bottle of the El Tequileno reposado you recommended. I’m hooked. Inexpensive AF and better than just about any liquor I’ve ever sipped, not just tequila. I am a complete novice w tequila but man I love this stuff. 👊

Since watching your channel and trying some of the tequilas you recommend my love for the spirit has grown a ton. It’s awesome that you can buy a blanko as good as LALO or Mijenta for a reasonable price. I’ve always liked tequila, but the ones you’ve introduced me to changed the game entirely.

I think I agree with most of your rankings. Of the ones that matter, I'd swap El Tesoro and Tequila Ocho. G4 might roll down to A, but it's borderline A+/S-. If I'm in a good mood, maybe bump up Codigo to B... but I can see a C+ there. Not all their releases are great. I'd add Wild Common to the A tier or B+ at worst. Arette is another I'd add at B. Their reposado is insane - slaps all the S tier in blinds. Great vid. Thx!

Surprised you left out Chamucos. I tried the blano once at a bar because you mentioned it and loved it! Definitely have to try the still strength and aged expressions!
I filmed a Chamucos segment but the video got corrupted to I had to cut it unfortunately. It was unusable 😕

My area is huge for bourbon whiskey, and i wont say we don't have tequila but we really only have maimstream tequila. It took me weeks to find from 3 different stores Tequila Ocho Potrero Grande 2023, Lalo, and El Tesoro. I 100% have to agree, before I watched the video with your rankings. The Lalo is good definitely better than the mainstream, but i would still use it for margaritas or mules, the bite comes through the other flavors, but is not the best straight, still very good. The Ocho I had first and I could have stopped there, great even straight room temp, fine for a cocktail. El Tesoro is a different beast right away, when you smell it its so fresh and green its amazing, and that comes through on pallette. Im not good at identifying the tequila flavors, but I know what I like. Its definitely my favorite. I only bought Blancos because i didnt want anything to change the spirits flavors as i was learning tequila, also because they didnt sell the anejo/reposado versions anyway. Thanks! Your videos made me stop and appreciate how fresh and tasty tequila is. It's a good dichotomy with a lot of the heavy whisky flavors I drink often.
And I get a lot of the minerality almost buttery briney from the Lalo bottle I have like you noted on your g4 bottle. But It was only okay in the Lalo, not a game changer for me.

Watching this video inspired us to try other tequilas beyond our "usual." El Tesoro Repo is still undefeated against our usual not be named, Tequila Ocho and Fortaleza Blanco. To be fair, I'm sure the Fortaleza Repo would be better, then I have to decide to the $120+ price tag. I did however come across several bottles of the Winter Blends and Anjeo for $229. Too expensive for me, but they are out in the wild. Cheers!

@@Bourbon_barrel it’s 100% god tier. Single estate, richly agave forward (even their repos and anejos, all delicious)… over sell? have you had their Puntas yet? Until you do, you don’t have a clue what you are talking about 😉 it’s arguably the best pure tequilla on the market (if you can even find it).. closest thing is G4 Madera. Fortaleza isn’t S tier imo. It’s an A+. Forta is what’s over sold with hype, not Ocho.
Sorry to tell you, you are not the gatekeeper to what is and is not the best tequila, nor what someone should or should not prefer in terms of taste.
The crux of your reply is the appropriate use of "imo." You are using opinion-based commentary and speaking as though its fact. At the end of the day, you think Ocho is the end all, be all of tequila and that's fine, I'm thrilled you found something you love that much. You're welcome to that subjective opinion, just as I am in stating that in our side-by-side, we preferred the El Tesoro to Ocho. 😁

I watched this in preparation for a trip to the liquor store for a margarita night with a friend & her boyfriend who are very “trendy” people, they swear casamigos is amazing. I’d much rather a deeper cut that’s authentic and high quality (in just about any topic). I really appreciate the notes about which are additive free, woman led, or made in a traditional manner. I’m making a variety of margaritas- watermelon, cucumber, coconut cream, spicy, and traditional. Going to buy a bottle of Mijenta or Corrido after work!
Everyone that is knowledgeable about tequila knows casamigos and terramana are garbage 🗑️
Honestly, 818 is way better than Casamigos, and even that didn't rank very high on his list. I haven't tried the 818 blanco though, only the repo, which I honestly found to be pretty decent. I haven't tried as many tequilas as this guy though.

Well, now all I want to do is fill my spirit collection with tequilas! :) While technically a mezcal, the La Luna Tequilana made from blue weber agave is phenomenal, and on some days while tasting side by side with the Fortaleza blanco I picked the Tequilana as the better sipper. Also, my go to mixer is Olmeca Altos, and it's a brand that I highly recommend. Thanks Lui! That was very enjoyable and helpful!

Mijenta and Lalo are my all time faves, I used to love Anejo’s, but I’ve been hooked on Blanco’s since I’ve hit my 40’s.

Love this video. But I have to say that another incredible brand made by Carlos Camarena is Tequila Tapatio, they make an excellent line of tequila in different expressions. Everything from Blanco to Extra Añejo (aka Excellencia) and even a high proof Blanco (110). Great for sipping and making margaritas.
As much as I enjoy Fortaleza, I’ve decided it’s not worth the money or the effort it takes to find those bottles these days. Nothing against that brand, it’s a fabulous spirit but at the end of the day, there are plenty of other brands on the market that are just as high quality and are absolutely fabulous. I bought a bottle of Fortaleza Reposado 12 months ago for $60, and now one year later that same bottle is almost double what it was a year ago. Personally, my favorite tequila is G4 Reposado. I agree that the mineral flavor is quite nice with the agave and those subtle barrel notes, it’s a very smooth, richly flavored, natural tasting additive-free tequila that I recommend to my friends all the time.
I don’t really drink Añejo or Extra Añejo tequilas that much, because the oak barrel influence subdues the agave flavor a little bit too much, and they sometimes make it taste too tannic’y which is not what tequila is supposed to taste like. So I prefer something that’s aged for a shorter time than a longer time. Because unlike whiskey or brandy, tequila doesn’t require a long barrel aging process.

I was fortunate that a store in my state about 20-30 from me a few years back did a G4 pick. It's one of only a few 5 Year Old Extra Anjeo picks ever done. So good!

Fortaleza Reposado - Winter Blend 2022. My all time favorite. It is hard to find though. Other than that the Don Fulano sherry cask anejo. Delish.

When I was young(1962?), we drove to Acapulco. We stopped on the way in a town called Tequila, Mexico. We took a tour of the maguey field (agave, maguey, same thing) and the tequila "factory". It was called Herradura. Years later, Texas Monthly surveyed 5 Mexican food restaurant/bars and asked for their opinion of the 5 best tequilas. Herradura was the only one on all 5 lists. Is it not in this sample(I skimmed thru)

The Best Tequila I ever had in my LIFE was from Hacienda Dona Engracia Tequila Factory in Jalisco, they do NOT export and they have ruined me for anything I get in the states. I do love your break down!!
