I’ve made EXACTLY the same margarita as Leo for years. Just slowly gravitated to it thru dozens of small tweaks. Including pinch of salt and the dump - Margarita loves it rough - never strain. On a hot summer day to lower the alcohol and up the liquid I may also add 2 oz of fresh grapefruit juice. Kind of a Paloma tweak.

I've been getting into cocktail making over the last few months, and tried all sorts of margarita recipes before settling with a 2:1:1 ratio for both the classic and Tommy's margaritas. I eventually decided to create my own and changed the Cointreau or agave nectar part to a 50/50 mix of both. I was surprised and impressed to see that not only is that how you like to make them, but according to the comments is most people's preferred variation 🎉

La Gloria is roughly 15 minutes from Tijuana. I went down to TJ solo two years ago looking for some adventure. I ran into the same guys two nights in a row partying on Avenida Revolución. They were super cool and happened to be from La Gloria. They took me out to places I would have never dreamed about going alone. Debauchery ensued. After nearly several brawls and entirely too much tequila and Indio beer, they invited me back to their place. We continued to drink tequila in their front yard, until an intensely red and orange sunrise took over the sky. After a sleepless morning, the guy who owned the home told me he had to go downtown to drop off a cell phone to girl who had left it at his place. I asked to go with him. A garbage truck happened to be driving by. He ran out front with the bottle of tequila and let them swig off of it. He later explained this ensured his garbage would be picked up weekly. We started to walk into downtown. A short while later the garbage truck came down the street we were on. He lets me know we were going to ride on the truck into downtown. To my surprise, with bottle of tequila still in hand, instead of getting in the cab he hopped onto the side of the truck and stuck his hand out for me to get on. I jumped up and held on with one hand while swigging tequila with the other. We were both laughing the whole way. While we bumped along the deeply rutted dirt roads lined with dilapidated houses and barking stray dogs, he turned around and yelled back to me "You wanted an authentic Mexican experience??!! Well this is it!!" This memory will live with me until the day I die. This video knowledged me to the fact that La Gloria and tequila have had a long history together. Thank you

I know I'm a couple years late to this vid, but I've been going down the rabbit hole of margarita recipes recently and stumbled on what I think is a neat variation. It is very similar to the last recipe in this vid, but I use a good repo instead of a blanco and an orange liqueur called Naranja instead of Curacao or the usual trinity (Triple Sec, Cointreau or Grand Marnier). The combination of the repo with the Naranja gives the drink this really neat "smokiness" (best way I can describe it) that you don't get with other recipes. It's definitely a vibe that won't work for everyone but has become my favorite way to make a margarita.

    1-1/2 oz Fresh lime juice

Love your style man, generally go for a trad Margarita with Curacao myself in place of Tia Maria (although Grand Marnier is a real treat), with no Agave or syrup (like my cocktails tart rather than sweet) and usually drink up. However if you serving on Rocks I always shake and dump, same with a Daquiri, mainly because I only have limited room in my freezer for Ice but like the ice chips and higher level of dilution. I say up for a pre-dinner drink but on the rocks for an afternoon BBQ

I do kind of the Preferred, but with Reposada. I'll try it with blanco.

Just watch out for the missing .5oz (15ml) Dry Curaçao in the preferred card :)

Sometimes I add an ounce of peach brandy. My version of a peach margarita: 2 oz tequila, 1 oz Cointreau, 1 oz peach brandy, 1/2 oz lime. Cheers! ☀️😀🍹

Awe man I feel the sourness in drink 1 when you drank it. No sugar content.

Literally just ordered this juicer, couldn't figure out what it was called. Also - love to see that your preferred is the same as mine, to the tee. I'll sometime switch out curacao for gran marnier to make it a bit sweeter.

This is great. Although ever since I saw your intro to the Infante, I've been drinking that more.

Great and enjoyable video! I always loved to do kind of a mixture between a Tommy's and a regular Margarita, so great to see that this ist not an absurd idea but your favorite, too. 😃

    Which blanco tequila is that?
Also, I think I remember reading in Punch or Imbibe about using a "regal shake" for margaritas, which is essentially throwing a spent lime shell half into the shaker which imparts a little bit more oil and some pithy bitterness. I haven't tried a side-by-side, but an interesting idea.

Yes regal shake is a great technique but didn’t do it here because I have a easy Cocktail
Hacks vid coming up where I talk about regal shaking. Coming soon!

I like them all but my personal favorite is
    2.0 oz Suerte Blanco
    1.0 oz Fresh Lime
    0.5 oz Organic Agave Nectar
.25 oz Fresh OJ (tames acidity does not at flavor)
    Pinch Salt
    Shake
    No Garnish

Chili Margarita (best ever Margarita I have ever tried)
    - 85g tequila
    - 1 lime's juice
    - 20g Cointreau
    - 20g Agave Syrup (normal syrup will do)
    - 2 drops Tabasco sauce
    - Garnish with green chili slice on top

Try muddling a few slices of jalapeño in the bottom of your shaker tin before you add your ice and other ingredients. Gives a nice kick as long as you don't overly smash the pepper (then it gets a little too vegetable-y). I like to toss in a couple of blackberries, too.
Definitely gonna try your hot sauce method next time

@@alejandrogonzales7022 I got the one I mention there from a fancy magazine and I tell you... my wife and I can´t have enough of them. The half green chili sliced transversally is really important as the aroma as it will add that extra kich and goes right to your nose when you sip it. Of course some sea salt on the top. I will try yours with the jalapeños!

I like mine a little milder. I use .5oz lime and .5oz Corona Extra, then 1 to 2 triple sec and blanco.
