Thank you for the video. Great fishing. When I started fishing over 60 years ago, I was told to carry my rod butt section 1st If I fell, the tip would not be damaged This has helped save at least two rods Only suggestion
My old stomping ground.. i used to go in the water around the same place and work my way down to in front of the railway bridge...had some great sea trout down there...tight lines mate...🎣🎣🎣🎣
@@theanglingfront the River used to be brilliant for Salmon and Sea trout.. sadly the salmon have all but disappeared, with the odd fish getting caught.. there's been a decline in sea trout 2... But at least there's still some fish about .. hopefully 1 day then fish might come back in numbers... Fingers crossed..🎣🎣🎣🎣
@@theanglingfront Hi I was nearly going to say same...all though in 1974 it looked a bit differant, I thought it could the borders for a while, only because your English is better than the norm, untill I saw that train. Say hello to the river for me and ATB
@@bertifrasilmeye995 Hi mate, how did that river fish in 1974? I bet it was full of great fishing back then!! I’ve heard some great stories of salmon run and watched a few documentaries too
@@theanglingfrontHi, the sea trout were bigger, your best sea trout vid size was not the norm but more often. I am not a salmon man ...just love the sporting sea trout. We use to fish just above the " motorway bridge" 1.25 k from Dumbarton towards L,Lomond. it was a great gravel run I think my record was ten, a three pounder fell out of ny rucksack on the way back to the station I WAS SICK not much C.A.R back then. I guy I knew got 20pounder trauling back and forth from the castle towards Port Glasgow. I think it may have been illegal. Ther was also a run of..... the guys called Polish salmon? @@bertifrasilmeye995 That’s amazing, really appreciate you giving me a bit of the history and past catches, I’m quite a sad history nut, so all that information was bloody fantastic!! Really appreciate that Hargreaves 🤣 only joking, tightlines friend 🤘🏻🎣
So why am I sat ere watchin... need to get my arse off this couch n mebby out this whisky away😵💫🎣 Great Vid, thought we were guna get a big finish.. luva vid thats actually like fishin👏
Hi Ken thanks for the kind words really appreciate that, this was my friend Logan and he has said to me he’s was using a squirrel and blue pattern on a size 12 double hook, and for the reel it was a large arbour behemoth reel, hope this helps 😁
I fish a bit further up the river started back in the late 80’s and meet two local anglers asked about the seatrout and said when was it best to start, when it gets dark was the reply, well coming from the north west it was like perpetual daylight to me, so after a laugh the next advice was when you can see three stars, had many a good night from small nebs up to two or three pound’s, and then after midnight you switched to the sunk lure, you would hear the fish’s fins whirring in the night when they jumped and see bow waves coming up the river 🤕sadly these days are gone, then I started finding it getting harder to catch them in the dark and nearly gave up, but i went out for the brownies and once the sun was low enough i stated catching seatrout on the smaller trout patterns as apposed to the standard low water salmon hooks of yore, how the river has changed with catches like a lot of places going down, a lot of the seatrout caught are estuary trout rather than the more traditional full blown seatrout, it might be that with the Clyde estuary habitat improving and a lot more food that the trout are hanging around the estuary rather than traveling north to feeding grounds, were just waiting for the first springer to appear 😬
Very intriguing Angus, makes sense as the estuary in my opinion is booming with sea trout in recent years, I am still yet to tackle the local river system properly this season! Hopefully I manage a few out of there, thanks for sharing this Angus really informative and interesting 🤘🏻🎣
Using a linebasket or a flexistripper, will make your casting much easier and give a lot more control of the line stripped... Easier casting, more enjoyment...👍
Yeah mate I do agree definitely would help with the line management when stripping. I like to travel light when fishing rivers so it doesn’t really bother me especially if I am moving about different paces of water and it’s not needed etc. Thanks for watching
Well done again Michael, great to see you doing a bit of river fishing👍
Thanks again Doug appreciate it 🤘🏻🎣

Great watch! Thank you 👍 what rod were you using, seems to have the ideal action, not too stiff, not too soft. Tigyt lines.
Hi Steve, this was my friend my Logan fishing in this video, he told me he uses a Airflo Delta Classic V1 hope this helps 😁🤘🏻🎣
I recognised the rod, its the same as my own haha. there was a moment in the video where you can see the type; a delta classic, 9ft 6 6/7 weight.
