I get so jealous watching you crochet! So fast and fluid! But I have to remind myself that you’ve been doing this a long time. I’ve been crocheting just over a year. I’ll get there eventually 😎

I try to live a zero waste life and crafting though good for my anxiety and depression can make me feel guilty. Found the re-spekt and re-spun online and on sale and bought it without even looking at reviews. Was so glad to see your thoughts here!! I had plans to make some garments with them and it looks like I made the right choice! But I may need to reconsider my plans for respekt because that tank that you suggested is EVERYTHING! I’m not much of a crocheter I’m terrible with my tension which is why I learned to knit (much easier!) but I may have to snatch up your pattern and commit. Omg so cute!

The cord yarn would be great for purses, like you said. It reminded me of those trendy SAC bags from the 80s.

@@janhill2079 that would actually be amazing!! Yes please! I don’t use any yarns with bamboo since the material it produces is actually rayon and it uses a huge amount of energy to convert bamboo into material. So I couldn’t use the blend she recommends here. Thank you so much!! ❤️❤️

I suppose that cord yarn would make a good light chain mail shirt if you were into role play. Your particular swatch took me right to that thought.

I hate to work with cotton, and I've been tried few different brands, before Toni to comment on one of my IG post with advice to switch to blend of cotton with something else. I really appreciate this advice at its make huge difference, thank you Toni! The new Lion Brand's cotton mixes looks intriguing.

I love the Re-Spun yarns. I recently used the raisinn color for your summertime tee pattern and my niece loves it; she wears it everywhere! It came out very drapey. I need to either make it smaller or tighter; the shirt fits more like a dress after only a few weeks.
Thank you so much for your reviews and your tutorials 😊

I love Re-spun because it looks just like wool without the itch factor and the special care instructions. I love the halo that comes with the yarn which fills in any gaps in between stitches. I used 7mm knitting needles to get the preferred fabric to make a shoulder shrug. I will need to collect all the colors before they discontinue it.

I always look forward to your yarn reviews. Where I have kind fo gone away from crochet in favor of knitting for the last few years it's nice to keep up with yarns that would be good (or not so good) for crochet. I tend to prefer using budget yarns in my crochet vs more higher end or luxury yarns for my knitting so I like that I can see the whole gambit.

I give you 20 stars for being the very best yarn reviews on TH-cam. You show the yarn, talk about the fiber content, do a sample and talk about which hook or hooks to try and then give your honest option of the yarn. I have come to really dislike the people that buy $$$ of yarn, pay for express shipping, then only talk about the colors and how scarfable it is. Most of us don't have $$$ to spend at one time much less pay for express shipping (would rather use the money on more yarn). I want to know how it feels when working with the yarn, what the stitch definition looks like, how it behaves on the hook and how the sample hangs or drapes.
I also love that you do different stiches, not just double and bobbles!
Thanks for the great professional videos.

Two plied yarns that are then plied together is a cable ply. Cable plied yarns are amazing when plied well, and all commercial yarn is under plied. 😂 Give it a run through a spinning wheel and you'll probably like it better.

I'm commenting months late(r) but I happen to be working on a blanket at this very moment (but I am taking a break to type this, so not exactly at THIS very moment!) using Re-Spun in the Cider color. It's coming along nicely, and I love the yarn. It IS soft to the touch when worked up and it has a nice drape, a nice weight and it's very easy to work with. I'm doing a Virus pattern (ha... timely), and using a size I hook (instead of the recommended J on the yarn band) to tighten up the stitches a bit. I've bought quite a lot of the Re-Spun and used it in blankets, throws and a sweater. So far, I'm sold on it and wish they'd offer it in more colors.

I purchased Re-spun in almost all the pretty colors, but when using it, I developed little cuts on my fingers. Though the yarn feels soft on the skein, I didn't like the roughness as it passed over my fingers. I am going to guess this all has to do with using recycled materials along with chemicals to process the yarn. After discontinued use of this yarn, the cuts did heal.

Okay, I actually have the Re-Spun Thick and Quick but it seems to be the same content? I might have to dig a little to find my smaller one. BUT. I did both knit and crochet swatches, and I'm in love. It's so nice to work with, and moves smoothly over the hook, and has just a little bite. The stitches had great definition, and it frogged nicely as well.

    • @n3onstars
      @n3onstars 2 ปีที่แล้ว

I've now swatched the thinner Re-Spun and I like it a little less. The plan to move up to a bigger hook (I used a 7mm, but an 8mm might be good too) was definitely a good one, and it has the same stitch definition for the most part as the bigger, and the same nice feel BUT. It is terrible to frog. It just tangled instead and I had to cut my swatch out entirely. So I guess that's a thing. I'm hoping it knits up similarly but actually lets me frog it.

Thank you for your great review and mentioning The Lion Brand sale- ordered five kits at 35% off. The Comfy cotton blend is used in the sleeveless knit flutter top kit and I also ordered enough of the Cooboo to make a second version because the steel blue color is so pretty. Last weekend Hobby Lobby had LB home cording at 30% off and got the dark brown color which is gorgeous. The picture on the Lion Brand website for the Sardinian coasters and the brown cording is inspiring. Also picked up the cream color to make matching placements. Searching for the perfect yarn to make a blanket out of, I binge watched ALL of your yarn reviews in the last week. I really appreciate the time you take to highlight the pros and cons of each yarn and really, really love it when you tell us how it washes and the types of projects that suit the yarn. Am I the only one annoyed and surprised that the DK and worsted weight 24/7 cottons aren't both mercerized despite sharing a name?

What is the best to use for baskets that hold nice round shape? Would you recommend 24/7 dk for tops and sweaters?

I just finished a bag with For The Home Cording. I worked it in single crochets and herringbone half doubles. I wasn’t sure at first, but it worked up really well and after I realized I can’t hold it on my tension hand like I do with regular yarn I was good to go!

To be honest and straight-forward...I never knew you existed until I accidentally found you today. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your reviews of different yarns and appreciate how in-depth you get in showing/telling us about them. Thanks to you, I think I've found the yarn for my grand-daughter's new tank that she's asked me to make for her. I've been hunting down a soft, DK weight, cotton yarn. But most are too scratchy, not very pretty color choices, and boring to work with. Your review of 24/7 Dk weight from Lion Brand has me ready to go order right this minute!! Thanks for your work and you can be sure I'll be back for more of your reviews. Thanks so much!!

Thank you. Just ordered a good amount to do crochet style macrame plant hanging pots for my son. He's discovered a love for succulents and air plants. Code saved me 25 dollars.
