Great interview on Taimak! We both trained with GM Ron Van Clief. I haven't seen him for many years. The last time we were hanging out in L.A. with my brother, (we grew up in NY) Terry Golden, Vanity, etc. Taimak and Terry worked at Universal Studios, Miami Vice show. That was in the late 80's/ early 90's. Also we all hung out at Club Vertigo back in the day. Terry and I bounced there. Good to see Taimak getting interviewed and recognized for his hard work!!!! Respect.
I think the reason that Taimak worked so well in the Last Dragon was because there was a lot in common already between himself and Bruce Leroy, he could easily embody the character because he was essentially that character in a way already, a young Bruce Lee fanatic and martial artist growing up in the craziness of 1980’s New York City , what a incredible moment in American culture, it’s such a fun movie full of endless nostalgia
Another legend that you get to interview. Freaking awesome man. I used to look so much like Ernie Reyes Jr. when I was a young. I used to pretend I was him and would do Kung Fu moves for people and they would really believe I was him. My mom would even go along with it and pretend I was him. Then they started thinking that I must be rich since I was in movies and I would tell them that I can't get any of my money until I was 18. lol Then they would ask me, "So you know Arnold Scharzenegger?" I would say, "Ya, he just called me last week to see how I was doing. lol I had an answer for everything they asked. Those were the good ole days.
I was born 1978. I grew up on martial arts movies. This may sounds funny but I learned how to use nunchuku from Bruce Lee movies. I can use both. I never competed professionally. I learned from martial arts movies, and I learned to fight from my dad, my mom, my siblings, my family ,my friends and the USMC. I'm still learning. I don't think I'm that good though. Anyway, I miss seeing martial arts movies on TV. You see when I was growing up in the 80s and 90s, we had some television stations that would show martial arts films on Saturdays. I loved them. I still do. I try to catch them when I can.
Dude, I also learned how to use nunchucks through Bruce Lee movies! Plus I'd get bullied when I was a kid, and because of Bruce Lee's influence, watching his movies, made me wanna study martial arts.
I'm very happy for him that his life journey led him to starring in that film and it then becoming a classic. As that film has really helped get through some tough times in my life with all its positive messages
Enjoyable interview! Like millions of other fans of The Last Dragon (think I saw it 3 times in the theater, back when it came out), I always wondered why there wasn't a sequel & why Taimak didn't go on to star in more movies. He had the looks, the skills, the acting ability & charisma ... what happened?! Anyway, The Last Dragon's still a classic! And no, it shouldn't be remade, much as we might want to we can't go back to/recapture eighties magic!

Had the privilege of meeting Taimak twice in 2014 (C2E2) & 2019 (Urban Action Showcase). Really wish he would’ve done more episodes of WMAC Masters.

That film had the right amount of camp, satire, and drama!

He was ring side when Ron fought in the UFC. Go back and look at this fight with Royce and you will see Taimak in his corner.
Definitely. He also was Ref in a prelim or two as well I thought.
I had a crush on Vanity in the 80's.
Dope, man! I've been wondering for a while now when you would get to speak with him.
You Guys Got The Glow!!
Always liked him. Good martial artist.
One of the great mysteries is how this guy didn't become a big action star.
He had the look, the skills, everything.
He turned down a sequel and demanded more money and basically got himself blacklisted in the business because he stood up for himself
Lot of fun watching The Last Dragon in the theatre in Toronto.
Great editing
Of course I respect what Taimak wants to do but I'd love to see him in a new movie!
It's BRUCE LEROY!
❤️❤️
ending on a cliff hanger ..dang it David lol
YOOOOOO!!!! 🔥🔥🔥
*Sup officer Samurai!* 😉
Like the interview but why don’t we see his face?
Camera Shy
is that Mike Tyson with Taimak?
😂
His mom and dad look like Aretha Franklin and Johnny Mathis look alikes.
O-----M-----G didn't know Paula Abdul had a twin sister
I'll be honest I got so bored after 3 minutes into the movie. Why the hell did they make this movie.
Why are you even here?
@Seer-cw9lu First of all who the hell are you.
Very optimistic of you....
@@jimblerocks Because I made the statement that's why.
