- Finally got around to taking a high resolution cab ride video over the entire line. Come along for the ride! Includes a near miss with a bluetongue lizard, keep an eye out for it.

I always enjoy your vids Alex - there is something very therapeutic about them. The pace of the train and the sweeping course of the railway through such beautiful landscape seems to strike a perfect harmony. It's interesting how the plants, bricks, pvc pipe and various other bits and pieces along the line don't look out of place despite the scale - it's like everything is exactly as it should be. I also like the varying colour and texture of the ride - open grassland, dark and rocky tunnels, scenic flights across sunlit valleys, dense green arching foliage, and the track itself nestled in amongst the moss and bush litter. A true bush railway!
I love to see videos of your line! Most garden railways that I know about have an artificial landscape build around them, but your line perfectly fits into the landscape. It looks wonderful ^^

Thanks! Some parts of the landscape here were built from scratch here too, though that was to rehabilitate degraded environment and plant native vegetation as well as to provide landscape for the tramway.

That's like the railroad tracks are leading through some kind of an Alice in Wonderland jungle. All these different sorts of real plants, huge like you'd never see them on planet Earth, grass the size of trees, lizards big as dragons, trees as gigantic as skyscrapers (!), tropical birds' voices, the sunshine, a swarm of flying insects of a size of ten to twenty or so centimetres. And everything's really alive! A tunnel like an old mine, and the best: somewhere down in the green canyon, below the railtracks, there's a peacefully friendly giant taking care of this magical dream railroad. 😍

This trip is about 120 meters, or 2.8 kilometers in 1:24 scale.
Quality entertainment just what I needed at the end of a workday. Great video. What is your camera gear? Background noises come through so nice and clear.
This was filmed with a gopro hero 7 black. It's definitely an improvement over the various drone cameras I was using previously, much better sound quality too.

What a totally fantastic railway! I have just found your channel. The whole setting works so well, the plants and trackbed along the ground - so good! What track do you buy? I really need a diamond crossing which I see in your video here at 0:20, where did you buy this, or did you make it? I need two of them for my layout. All the best for 2021, W :)
The track is a real mixture, I think I have just about every common rail profile because it was all second hand. New track can be pretty expensive to buy here unfortunately. That crossing was one that I built out of code 332 brass rail, as well as all the other points up to 1:45. You could probably put one together from four standard sets of points and a diamond crossing though, but maybe with the track centers a bit further apart? I built that one to fit the location with the tracks fairly close together.
How often do you go in and trim the leaves on the line
Looks like you've been busy with some new overhead fittings and masts? Do the trams ever encounter wildlife such as blue tongued lizards, on the track, in tunnels etc?
Possibly there is some new ones? Little incremental changes happen all the time, either for maintenance or improvements. It's definitely possible to meet various wildlife, including the (very unintentional!) near miss with the bluetongue on this trip.
I have a silly question. Does the train really run by electric wires overhead or do the locomotives have a battery??
The electric trains and trams are all powered by the overhead wires. The diesel locomotive is actually battery powered though.

Hi Sebastian! This is what is broadly called "G gauge", which is a general term for any trains running on 45mm gauge track. Within that though there are quite a few different scales depending on which real trains you model. In Chile you might have the same problem that I do in Australia, where because most of the manufactures are in Europe and North America shipping costs are often prohibitively expensive. Because of the large scale though it is easy to build trains and even the track from scratch using common parts. This is pretty much required anyway if you want to build models of local trains and trams.

that are good for reading about what people are building and what sort of parts are available. I look out for second hand stuff on ebay too, though unless I can find something for sale locally the shipping is usually too expensive there too.

well, its completely safe at that speed because its the flattest and straightest part of the railway
Yes, but you never know what herbs or animals will suddenly appear and cause a derailment.
