    I must say that is the most overgrown and debris-strewn garden railways I've ever seen. Loved it!

  • @TheCloakedTiger
    @TheCloakedTiger ปีที่แล้ว +3

    The overgrown track really gives you a feeling of being on a trolley line. Love it! It’s overgrown, but it’s still manageable and that’s the amazing thing about model railroading is that people get so creative in this hobby is so many different ways.

      well, most wood around the catenary was removed to prevent pantograph damage.

    What a wonderfully ramshackle garden railway, so different from those pristine fussy ones you usually see this one looks like a working railroad for fairies.

    You need to mount a machete on the front of the engine.

    The eggs from those giant chickens are something else.
    One egg could feed a family of 30 for a week .

    Very impressive- hate to think how long it takes to clear the line before a run. That must be one heavy loco not to derail through the undergrowth!

    • @Taitset

      Usually running is frequent enough that not much needs to be cleared. Just the occasional landslip caused by rabbits!

    • @Taitset
      @Taitset  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The overhead in the tunnels is made from HO scale code 100 rail. However I'm just a frequent visitor to the line, for specific questions about construction I'd suggest asking Alexander on his channel here: th-cam.com/channels/US5FZ5EpoLrjbQNIWIOb8g.html

  • @geoffsmith8493
    @geoffsmith8493 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Really enjoyed the ride. Must be a full time job keeping the rails clear of overgrowth and debris. Have you had many derailments?

    • @Taitset
      @Taitset  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Most of the rollingstock in use is quite heavy and just pushes through the vegetation, and in summer most of the weeds die back anyway, so there's not actually too much work involved.

  • @donmcfadden7390
    @donmcfadden7390 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Fantastic model! How did he ever build and wire the tunnels? And how does he keep it running in all the weeds?

    • @Taitset
      @Taitset  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The tunnels are all built by cut-and-cover. Tunnels 1 and 2 both have an access hatch in the middle for dealing with derailments and maintenance issues. The weeds actually pose very few issues, most of the rollingstock is very heavy and just pushes through.

    • @Taitset
      @Taitset  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Indeed this is a very different Eltham! Like many locations in Australia it was named after the one in the UK. However we pronounce it differently here - we say the 'th' soft like in 'health.' Our Eltham is also on a heavy rail electric suburban railway, you can have a look here: th-cam.com/video/en_Vz3htAJ4/w-d-xo.html

    The only one thing that has me dissatisfied with these ride along's
    Is the fact that the owner of the layout doesn't show what the train looks like

    • @Taitset
      @Taitset  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      To be honest that's often because the train used for filming is a specialised setup to carry the camera. On this particular run the camera was loaded on a flatcar being propelled by a Swiss electric railcar. You can see all the rollingstock used on the line here on Alexander's channel: th-cam.com/channels/US5FZ5EpoLrjbQNIWIOb8g.html
