      I know my Volvo dealership completely forgot about its customers when it changed to a Kia dealership in early '99. At first, they kept selling and servicing Volvos alongside Kia's but after a few years, even that was slowly phased out. I soon began feeling like an intruder whenever I would occasionally go in for a part for my Volvo. So, after being a Volvo dealership since '63 they have now turned their back completely on that brand. The nearest Volvo dealership to me is now over 300 miles away and in a different country! So, no more Volvos for me!

    I wouldn’t have skipped the BLIS, I’ve had Volvo BLIS since my 2008 XC70. Volvo, and your dealer, should have “helped” you into the ultimate trim as a goodwill gesture to you, a good Volvo customer. I worry about the future of Volvo.

  • @EpperJon
    @EpperJon ปีที่แล้ว +20

    Volvo is no longer interested in customer satisfaction because their sales have increased so dramatically. My experience with ordering my ‘23 V90 Cross Country through the European Delivery Program was an unmitigated disaster. Ultimately I got the car months after the originally scheduled production date, but then Volvo Financial REFUSED to finance the lease because they considered the car “used”, though it hadn’t been driven at all. (My very high credit rating didn’t matter at all.) From ordering the car in August ‘22 to delivery in March ‘23, it was a horrible experience. At the end of the day, Volvo didn’t extend any remuneration or goodwill. What a disappointment!

    • @DougFrantz
      @DougFrantz ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Volvo has never allowed overseas delivery to be leased. The in service date is when you pick up the car. Would likely not work with the registration aspects, plus most customers wouldn't want to pay for a lease 2-3 months before they can start driving it.

Last week I got a mail from the salesman, telling me BLIS can't bel delivered. Got 5000SEK (about 440 euro) in compensation. Really disapointed. Not sure yet if I'm going to cancel or not.

    having participated in a high speed crash on a french autoroute, blind spot radars should be mandatory nowadays-just as ABs and airbags have gone from premium to standard equipment. That and the "swerve to avoid a collision" feature, which again is often a premium above the "brake to avoid a crash" baseline option. Volvo in particular should be doing better here

    • @fla_inbox
      @fla_inbox ปีที่แล้ว

      You're overestimate the intervention of the BLIS.
      Let alone it can't really avoid severe crashes also if you keep you lane assist and use adaptive cruise control it's not much of use on highways.
      You'll be forced by other systems to look up behind you.
      BLIS can be only useful in cities with pedestrians, cyclist or motocyclist crossing you by to avoid collisions.
      Where the drivers as standard should keep the attention very high.

    First of all, I absolutely agree with BLIS being a must-have, I think all vehicles should be equipped. I've been talking with my dealer about trading my 2022 XC60 T8 (early) for a '24 XC60 Recharge when the U.S. orders open to get the longer range and faster charger. But now I'm told in North America we will not get the faster charger due to incompatibility with the U.S. electrical system. Also learned that the "Bright" version, which we have now with Denim Blue, will not be sold in NA. We think the Dark in Denim looks "cheap" and stripped down. There are many PHEV alternatives to Volvo that have 6 to 7 kW on-board chargers. Faster charging would be a big advantage for me as I often do multiple 30-50 trips in a day with the opportunity to recharge in between, but the slow charger doesn't help much. Looking at various country Volvo websites it looks like there are more options and colors offered as well. Not sure what we'll do, but I'll be interested to see what you finally decide for your next car.

    I took delivery of a V60 T6 two weeks ago, which I ordered in Jan 22. Now I had the car, the dealer was much more open in the issues they were seeing. Volvo seem to be consolidating options on all models, just the plus and ultimate now with fewer than ever optional extras. They don't seem able to manage their supply chains one way or another. Scheduled delivery in July. Almost missed the opportunity as another dealership "forgot" to tell me they had NO allocation for the V60 Recharge, despite me showing interest for almost a year and being on a "list" waiting to put a deposit. Canceling an order is always a disappointment. I know the feeling, I had to cancel a car because production was stopped. Waited 1.5 years. I now have an XC40 recharge on order. When ordered in October, delivery in Q1-23 was achievable. After ordering, this quickly became June, until the production slot was finally announced in September. The dealers cannot issue any serious schedule. And if something is changed from the factory, you can immediately pay extra. The auto industry is screwed up. I hope you find another nice car pretty soon.

    Sorry to hear that, it‘s always disappointing hearing that when you look forward to a (new) ordered car! I remember when I got told that my C40 Twin will come without PixelLED. But I kept my order. I think if I would be in your position, I would have kept my order as well, going without BLIS. Our Peugeot e208 has blind spot system as well but it rarely works, but I can live with it so I just switched it off until it gets repaired finally.
    I am more surprised actually you considered going from BEV to PHEV. Another brand was no option? If I would need to go for an estate phev, I would take the new Mercedes C300e: better range than V60, DC charging, 11kW AC and better infotainment.

    • @SteveLoughran

      my BMW blind spot radar works wonderfully-it even detects cars coming at speed even when they aren't in the blind spot. where it lets me down is (a) doesn't detect cyclists and e-scooters in town and (b) is disabled when I have bikes on a trailer. the second one is dangerous as you do get used to the radar effectively telling you when it is safe to pull in. bad habits come from safety features once you start to rely on them....

      @@SteveLoughran That's one of those things I try to always remember. Safety systems are complementary and you cannot rely solely on them. Since it makes you complacent.

    Hello. I had a similar situation. I ordered an XC40 B3 mild hybrid. I myself decided to purchase a vehicle without BLIS. With the difference in price, I decided to buy some other additional equipment. I don't think BLIS is that crucial, because the driver's control via the side and rear view mirrors is needed in the first place. In december 2022 I ordered a XC60 T6 recharge in plus trim for a colleague and a V60 T6 recharge in ultimate trim for me. For the XC60 I received a mail that they couldn’t deliver it with BLIS. Since it is company car (leasing) they offered to change it with 360 camera. Since the previous car is end of lease soon and the fiscal situation in Belgium has changed since the order (order date determines fiscal situation) we just went with it. My V60 however is only planned in early 2024 and should still have the BLISS. Since I don’t prefer the sports seats I went with the massaging and cooling seats and a few more options.
    I was seriously considering the Polestar 3, but it was a tad out of budget (€100 more a month than my V60). Now I think you will get a Polestar 4 for the same budget as the V60, but it isn’t an estate.

Maar wij hadden de massage stoelen geselecteerd, en dat kan niet op de plus. De plus is het meest vergelijkbaar met onze configuratie toentertijd. For now certainly enjoy the C40 and would recommended it anytime 😊

    It’s important to not rely solely on aids like BLIS. It may give you a false sense of safety and it will never replace you physically checking your blind spot. The reason the system exists is because of bad drivers, so for those people it is necessary. But for me it will only be an accessory.
    For instance I had an Audi A6 and I didnt pay the 500 euros for backup camera because I FREAK OUT when people backup and look down on the screen while manoeuvring the car. You check once in the camera, to check there’s nothing behind you, then you proceed and back up while checking with your eyes.

    Also orderd V60 on January by the occassion of some free production slot on April and after a week been informed that Blis is not available. They reduced my Driver Assist Package by the half (twithout Blis and Cross Traffic Alert) and left only Pilot Assist and Active Tempomat. The price has dropped only by 150 Euro. I've been a bit suprised about the small value of Blis and Cross Traffic Alert (wtf, only 150E?!) but , the dealer also informed that final price in the moment of picking up the car from the dealer should be lower after the final recalculation by the Volvo. Yesterday I got a call from a dealer and all it turned out that Volvo left the price the didn't change anymore. Volvo should do something about it because they can loose a lot of reliable clients if they do what they do.

    I would have cancelled after a few seconds of you listing all the packs and options. Assuming it was coming with all 4 wheels and something to sit on , the car should come with a better spec or not come at all. It is difficult to imagine why you would pay for the privilege of all of these ‘negotiations’ instead of enjoying a new vehicle. Reminds me of Ford in the 70s, but that was about including a second door mirror and a rear wiper. It stank then and it stinks now.

    I think you've changed your mind then. If you really wanted that car you should have pull the trigger mate.
    The V60 is beautiful, like no other estate or car in the Volvo lineup. EX90 is a truck, EX30 will be interesting but doesn't come close to the SLA chassis of the V60.
    BLIS is an unnecessary safety optional, I have an XC40 and can live comfortably without since it has huge mirrors.
    I had a previous car, hatchback with BLIS and never really cared.
    I do my driving.
    Anyway dealer should have been more comprehensive and try to offer a little extra to compensate like free accessories.
    Ultimate trim is way too expensive for every model, reasonably speaking they can't offer such discount.
    So I wouldn't have be tempted at all.
