    Excellent video. I found one of these amps at a pawnshop and was able to get the price down to $525. The amp is in mint condition and looks brand new. I like this review and the guidance on how to get the best tones out of it.
    I also like the fact that the guitar player is excellent and has a very strong right hand. This provides a better example of what the amp is capable of. Thank you. I have been to this channel many times and I like the way this host presents amplifiers.

    FINALLY. Someone objectively highlights the differences between the DSL and TSL.
    Knowing what I know NOW after watching this. I would've bought the TSL.
    But the internet "experts" led me astray.

    You get great sound out of every Marshall you plug your guitars in, Euge.
    Kinda like the Johan Segeborn of 800s and later Marshalls, while he is the Plexi-King

    Great demo. I had a JCM2000 for about 18 years before it finally died and I replaced it about a year ago with a DSL100HR, which I immediately swapped the stock tubes with JJ KT77's, TungSol RI 12AX7's and a Sovtek 12AX7LPS for the phase inverter and I can actually coax pretty much every tone I was ever able to get with the DSL2000 and them some.

    I have the tsl and man, it sounds so good itself, no pedals involved. It needs a good amount of volume but it's really dinamic and responds so well with different pickups!
    Needless to say that it is also one cheap amp to find on used gear websites!

    Wooooah... I have this amp, I bought one for gigging back in the early 2000's , I don't know how you're sitting in front of it with the Volume past half way?!? I can't get the vol past 1 without blowing my windows out! It's pretty much unusable as lounge room amp in the suburbs, so is now just decoration in the corner! Sounds great.

    The TSL sounded best to me. But I owned a TSL and only kept it for a few weeks as I couldn't get a tone I liked. Yours sounds great! I think you have mastered getting just the right amount of gain and SD-1 to taste. I have never used a pedal to boost the input..(other than on Plexi's) but thanks to TH-cam I now find that I'm in the minority! I now use two ENGL Powerball heads, but they were the first deviation from Marshalls for me in 40years of playing. I may return to Marshall one day I think :)

      The intro piece is a song I wrote. I usually write a new song (or a rough idea of a song) for each video and my second solo album ’Shooting From The Hip’ is based on the song clips I’ve ”introduced” first on my YT videos. Red Wolf’s ’Sessions Vol. 1’ - album is also based on these. And the next Cyhra album will most likely have a few songs / ideas from my videos too.
      But that at 6:10 was me just noodling some basic chords on the top of my head 😎.

      I have no idea since the sound comes mostly from players hands but it should be a good starting point 😉. The cabinet, speakers and microphones to capture the sound etc., or the impulse response, plays a huge part in the sound also. A lot more than people usually think.
      I always tell people to use their ears and not their eyes when dialing their sound 🎼.

    What microphone did you use to record the cabinet?

    • @EugeValovirta230V
      @EugeValovirta230V  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      None since I used the Suhr Reactive Load IR and not the cabinet👌.

      It is! You can crank the amp and play with headphones if you want to and have a great sound 👌.

    I thought the JCM2000 DSL came with EL34's. You swapped them for the KT77's?

    • @EugeValovirta230V

      I borrowed the amp to do the video but yeah they come with EL34s.

    Chorus in the front or thru the loop?

    • @EugeValovirta230V
      @EugeValovirta230V  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      In the front on this one if I remember correct. Usually I have it in the front but sometimes in the loop. Whatever is the mood of the day 😎.

    I’m sorry but when I hear these tones you’re getting from an amp that I own (100w DSL 2000 x 2) I get aroused!!!!! Damn!!! (I’d better close the curtains! Lol) Btw…are you tuned to a dropped Eb with the E string tuned down a whole step? I don’t have a guitar here. I know! Shameless! Lol

      No need to be sorry 😁.
      I don’t remember what I used on this video and I’m not around a guitar atm 😎. But it sounds like Drop - Db.

    my god can anyone demo these amps without chugging metal for the whole time?? anyone?

  • @massapower
    @massapower 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The problem here muchacho is your not using the amp straight. Your using processor effects.. Let's hear the actual AMP Plugged in straight.
    Gracias

      @EugeValovirta230V  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      There’s no post processing except a small amount of stereo reverb so it’d sound more like the viewer would be in the room 👍😊
