    Hey Bro Awsome video keep it up!!I love your ride! I have a quick question regarding the AMSOIL I saw your using 5w-40 is it cold where you live? I leave in FL so I run on 15w-40 for my 2012 6.7cummins currently using Shell synthetic blend but I'm not sure if AMSOIL offer the 15w-40 on their signature series

    • @paulg444

      I use 15w40 in the summer in Massachusetts. Once temperatures drop in the late Fall I put 5w40. If you are in South Florida you don't really need the cold weather 5w weight. But it can't hurt !

    A lot of truck drivers use that style of ball valve drains, just bigger obviously. It makes life a lot easier, especially on CAT engines with their traditional 1-1/2 drain plugs that shoot out horizontally instead of just down. 🙄🙄🙄

  • @excaliburjeepxj

    Not a good idea to put Permatex on the transmission pan...you only need the gasket....There are a lot of small channels etc.. in the transmission.. The trans fluid will eventually break the silicone down and it will clog up your transmission...

    • @EVERYTHANGDIESEL
      @EVERYTHANGDIESEL  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Dodge for the the 68rfe didnt make a gasket, it comes with a sealant from factory and its recommended from mopar to use gasket the sealant. I used gasket sealer before when I did my pan in the past and I had zero issues. Problem comes when people dont wait the proper amount of time prior to adding fluids. This permatex sealant is fine and dries in 5 minutes and is heat resistant up to 500 degrees.

    Hey man nice vid! Just wanted to ask a quick question, what would you say could be going on with a code P0740 on the 68rfe. Check engine comes on and off never stays on all the time. Could it just be low fluid?

  • @mackzaddydre
    @mackzaddydre 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    For the trans did you have to get a different filter or are you running the normal one? Also why are you running 5w30 instead of the recommended 15w40?

    • @tintdr
      @tintdr ปีที่แล้ว +1

      15w40 is not recommended, 5 w30 they say on the newer Cummins, I run 5w40 15 is to light of a tempeture rating , 5 w is for low temperature like if toy live in New York. 15 you can run in Florida, 40 weight I run but tou may get 1 mpg to 2 mpg less less then using 30 weight supposedly. Id rather protect my rings

I don't care who tells me that I don't have to change my oil for 15k or 25k miles. Ill change my oil at 5k to 7k miles dependimg on how much towing I do no matter what. Oil is cheap. Diesel engines are very expensive and to me my truck was a big investment. You can keep all that noise that I'm throwing away my money. Ill be in the million mile club. thats about 7500 miles i believe. i was skeptical at 1st too but once i did multiple oil samples they all came back good. proofs in the testing. changing oil at the recommended intervals is the best thing u can do for your oil. thats why Amsoil make Series 3000 oil for customers who want to change there oil at normal intervals.

    I wouldn’t go 15k on an oil change from my experience, but again, it’s your truck. I’ve just seen the difference in keeping up with oil changes vs letting it go the distance. You will see the difference on the main and rod bearings over time. I’d keep an eye on your bearings if you plan on doing 15k from now on.

    • @EVERYTHANGDIESEL
      @EVERYTHANGDIESEL  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      yeah 10-13k is the longest i may go. but its good to know i get double intervals with this oil if i need too. Also i've done a lot a research on these new annual oil change motor oils and some brands are holding up to there claims. biggest thing i believe where people get confused is they run semi syntheic and think its full synthetic and will go over a year before changing the oil which is a huge no no. plus i plan on doing a oil sample at 7500 miles to see how it's doing.

    • @djrico_5136
      @djrico_5136 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      EVERYTHANG DIESEL Yeah bud, do whatever works for you. I say just change the filter 1-2 times during that time period. Do at least the midlife of the oil change so like 5500-7k miles in- swap it out.
      Hope you’ve been good though man. I hope those sockets and wire strippers have still been good for you.

    • @djrico_5136
      @djrico_5136 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      EVERYTHANG DIESEL Also, cut open a filter to check your metal content before you sample it to see what the filter is getting out of the oil. It’ll indicate a lot of what’s going on with your bearings and/or turbo.
