I want to wait for Apple to release new iMacs with M1pro/M1max chips next year but I'm tempted to buy a 16" M1pro base model...my old late 2013 27" imac is not able to do 4k editing (simple editing 1 or 2 layers-no multicam) at all...this base model with 16GB and 1TB would be nice but I prefer iMacs to laptops although I could use this laptop as a desktop replacement I guess...You connect your M1 to a good monitor. Do you ever use it in clamshell mode? Hmmm...I would need a 4k monitor too...and so the price goes up...argh...! I do make some money from editing so that helps...Eric sounds really impressed with how much better this model is compared to the previous 16" intel MBP...decisions....I can only afford one editing computer...I wish I knew what Apple is preparing for the iMac for 2022.
Good comment! I’ve personally never used my computer in clamshell mode. Also if you wanted to upgrade, the base model 16 inch would be a major upgrade. And when the new 2022 models are released you could always trade in the base model and then trade in.
@@ItsIndiraChannel hey...I stopped by my local Apple store and I got a 16" M1pro...I'm testing it and it runs nicely but the version of Premiere pro I have (v.15.0) is not optimized for M1 so I guess I will have to get at least 15.4 to get more optimization...do you use Premiere Pro? I should learn FCP X but I need premiere. I will test the laptop...I wish I knew what iMacs Apple will release next year and the price! aye caramba! Expensive toys! thanks
