im having buyer's remorse over my M2 Macbook Air. It's great for basic stuff, but im noticing the throttling after long work sessions and having just two of my programs open at once basically maxes out my 16GB of RAM casuing it to use swap. The M4 Pro looks great, but it's a lot of money and compared to the Air, the Pro is a pretty thick machine, especially porportionally with the 14" model.
Maybe it's me, but I don't really get the "portability" argument as it relates to 14 inch vs 16inch MB. Coming from a mid-tier Windows 15 inch laptop, I never owned a Macbook in my life, I find both 14 and 16 inch MBs super portable devices. Additional 500 grams, 2 cm on top and 4 cm wider is supposed to make 16 inch not portable? Come on... both are super portable machines. I've looked at both devices in Apple stores on several occasions and for me the 14 inch is just too small, working on it long term would be much less comfortable than 16 inch screen.
it depends actually. Since you are used to carrying 15 inch laptops you dont feel much difference and also for a college student like me if we put our laptop in a protective sleeve and then into backpack then its somewhat impossible to fit the 16 inch device in backpack
I had got m3 macbook pro (silver) but soon m4 launched as well and i returned to get m4 (space black). New subscriber here! 👋🏼 Thank you SO much for this review! I am looking at getting this exact computer/specs for a video editing and some Photoshop work as well! I was wondering if the trackpad ever gets hot? I recently returned an M3 max because the trackpad was overheating already… I’m basically between this m4 pro or an M4 max chip with 14/32 GPU, 36 gb, 2 tb and just wondering if Max chip is a better investment in the long run/better for editing or if the m4 pro with a little less GPU/memory bandwidth is plenty? Thanks so much! ☺️🙏🏼
Same here, i have intel 2019 16inc MacBook Pro, but it heats up something wrong with it and is not so fast any more, i was thinking to get MacBook Air 15inc love how thin it is, but i think i go for MacBook Pro 14, because of new M4 chip and beautiful display.
Same thing here, what do you think is a better option coming from a 16 in user, the 14 mbp with 24 gigs of ram and 1TB ssd or the base 16 with 512 ssd?
thanks for the review. convinced me to trade in my 2019 intel for the new MacBook Pro 2024. I will go 16" and less memory than you because of my regular use.
Still using my 2020 M1 MacBook Pro with the regular M1, 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage. Maybe I'll upgrade once the M5 MBP comes out. At least, if the M5 is a 2 Nm processor and if there is a redesign. If the M5 is just more of the same, I might wait for the M6, which is at least 2 years away.
been using the m1 air 8/256 for a while now, I do all my school work on it, side projects on it (some of my coding projects are very intensive), and it has been holding up strong. I am very familiar with its limitations tho, and am considering upgrading to the M4 pro.
Hi Issac, should I buy the 14” M4 MacBook Pro with the m4 pro 24gb ram 512gb ssd or m4 16gb ram 512gb ssd configuration for my use case? I need it for beginners photo and video editing, programming, web browsing, watching yt videos, listening to music and podcasts with high quality audio interface and headphones amp, taking it to university with me sometimes, and media consumption.
i was in the same boat as you. i’m a student, i dj as an actual job (meaning a weekly basis), i edit videos, use my laptop for an LED wall at work. anyways, the 24gb ram w 512gb ssd would be a great investment. i picked one up today. given that you’re starting to work with more programs, it’s better to plan ahead an invest in a laptop that can handle a potentially larger work load in the future. you never know what might come your way, especially for the type of work you’re doing.
@@oren_katz definitely. i've been using it for the past few day. I've been making beats, editing vlogs, dj'ing. it's a power house bro i have no regrets whatsoever with this purchase. Love your awesome review. I’m keeping my MBP M1 Max “14. I was tempted at first, but I’m glad to hear that performance wise for me in photoshop and LR isn’t going to be much of a difference.
100% yes, that's the best approach. use the tool you have, until you can't. don't think about it until then. huge waste of time and money upgrading every few years and you still don't get the best deal anyway.
Should I buy the M4 Mac mini / MacBook Pro with the configuration of m4 pro base chip, 24gb ram, 1tb ssd? I need it for video editing for yt channel, photo editing for photography, programming python and java script apps, web browsing and media consumption. I want to upgrade from my old windows gaming pc from 2018 which has i7 8700 and gtx 1050 ti, and I’m willing to upgrade it and move to my first Mac.
Well it's really simple. Do you want a portable computer you can use anywhere, or do you still want to stick with a desktop? Me personally, I believe Mac Os is more ideal on the go for it's compact and condensed nature. I would rather have a windows device for at-home use because it's capable of more configurations But if you already own several products from Apple (iPhone, watch, iPad) I guess buying the Mac Mini makes sense to complete the Apple ecosystem
my macbook pro arrived 3 days ago with the same spec you have and i can tell you compared to my old i7-960 gtx1060 setup to shame. The main reason I would say you should get the mac mini is how cheap it is, and if it already replaces the desktop you have, you can keep all the peripherals, something you pay for with a macbook. The roles switch with the M4 Pro where at barely much of a price bump you get a great keyboard+trackpad+display+battery. If you can i really recommend mac mini because it is really cheap but if you want a laptop go for it, just be warey its pricey
It's funny how blocks like the EU are forcing certain device manufacturers to USB-C, but not TV / Monitor manufacturers who are using HDMI, perhaps because it's a separate standard. However, I think it's yet another unnecessary standard like USB-B on printers. As an aside, I've been using a 16" M1 for a few years now and my opinion is it's quite portable and I prefer the larger screen real estate. I can't imagine using a 14" at this point.
i had the same inkling. 16" was getting unwieldly but it was awesome. i went to the apple store to check out nano and when i held the 14", omg, mind made up right there. done with 16. ordered 14.
kay this was great, but calling the macbook pro "the perfect balance between thin and light..." is just... No. Lol. These laptops are thicker and heavier than my 2012 macbook pro... Which is just imo the only terrible part about these computers... They're heavy as hell and thicc with like 5 c's

New subscriber here! 👋🏼 Thank you SO much for this review! I am looking at getting this exact computer/specs for a video editing and some Photoshop work as well! I was wondering if the trackpad ever gets hot? I recently returned an M3 max because the trackpad was overheating already…
I’m basically between this m4 pro or an M4 max chip with 14/32 GPU, 36 gb, 2 tb and just wondering if Max chip is a better investment in the long run/better for editing or if the m4 pro with a little less GPU/memory bandwidth is plenty? Thanks so much! ☺️🙏🏼
they should add nano texture to the iphone
Planning to upgrade from the 2019 Intel MBP to the M4 Pro MBP. Really excited to see the speeds of Apple Silicon!
Still loving my 16" 2019 but thinking about holding out for the refresh
thanks for the review. convinced me to trade in my 2019 intel for the new MacBook Pro 2024. I will go 16" and less memory than you because of my regular use.
Keep the HDMI. Why in the world would you say get rid of it. You're nuts
BROTHER I NEED THAT WALLPAPER!!!
Why are tech companies offering powerful hardwares but gimmick softwares these days?
been using the m1 air 8/256 for a while now, I do all my school work on it, side projects on it (some of my coding projects are very intensive), and it has been holding up strong. I am very familiar with its limitations tho, and am considering upgrading to the M4 pro.
Is the color mismatch of the trackpad normal? I didnt notice it as much on other videos.
Great news for the cat
@ Ok, thanks! So you recommend to buy a MacBook Pro over a Mac mini with the m4? M4 pro 24gb ram 512gb ssd?
@@oren_katz definitely. i've been using it for the past few day. I've been making beats, editing vlogs, dj'ing. it's a power house bro i have no regrets whatsoever with this purchase. I really enjoy being able to take out my laptop and work from wherever i'm at. for me personally, I'm never at home, so the laptop suits my lifestyle better.
fire vid, helped a lot
Love your awesome review. I’m keeping my MBP M1 Max “14. I was tempted at first, but I’m glad to hear that performance wise for me in photoshop and LR isn’t going to be much of a difference.
Is the mat. Display as Color true as the normal one?
Think I’ll finally upgrade my 2013 mbp 😅
I'm on the M1 Pro 16 wont be upgrading until M10 Pro in 2030 🤭
How about that camera going over the screen is it not hidding some of the screen for instance, if you are watching a film
Can you drop your wallpaper link here please
Which intel macs are better?
100% yes, that's the best approach. use the tool you have, until you can't. don't think about it until then. huge waste of time and money upgrading every few years and you still don't get the best deal anyway.
I still use my Polycarbonet MacBook 2007😂😂, mostly for my IPods.
I’ve been going back and forth wether I get the M4 or just buy the M3 refurbished one 😢
I would rather have a windows device for at-home use because it's capable of more configurations
But if you already own several products from Apple (iPhone, watch, iPad) I guess buying the Mac Mini makes sense to complete the Apple ecosystem
my macbook pro arrived 3 days ago with the same spec you have and i can tell you compared to my old i7-960 gtx1060 setup to shame.
@@jacobporter419 Yeah I like Mac mini more. But for my mentioned use case should I go for m4 base 16gb 512gb vs m4 pro 24gb 512gb?

That you as Cam’ron ??? 💀
I can't imagine using a 14" at this point.
we need a day in the life they help me with my inspiration
And I am here still using my intel MacBook
Waiting for iMac m4 review 🖥️🍎
I waited for the M4 14 I will get one
what is the make and model of that good looking chair you were sitting in at the start of the great video
Really want to upgrade from my 16" M1 Pro to 14" M4 Pro. 16" is too big and heavy for my needs!
i had the same inkling. 16" was getting unwieldly but it was awesome. i went to the apple store to check out nano and when i held the 14", omg, mind made up right there. done with 16. ordered 14.
- 2 weeks with the m4
- 1 month
-3 months
- 6 months
- 12 months
huh
I have a question.
Does a regular M4 Macbook have 1 fan or 2?
Cuz last year m3 had only 1.
Just curious 😅
One for base m4, 2 for m4 pro
@YorgoFeghaly damn.
One fan, but that's all it needs for the price and chip performance
should i get M4 or M4 pro for graphic design and video editing? how much ram should i get? please help me. i need to upgrade from old mac book.
m4 pro. at least 24gb.
@@zp61 thank you sir. this ease my worry.
How about the battery life?
Any improvement with the fingerprints ? The previous models were a bit disappointing on the matter with the dark colors.
kay this was great, but calling the macbook pro "the perfect balance between thin and light..." is just... No. Lol. These laptops are thicker and heavier than my 2012 macbook pro... Which is just imo the only terrible part about these computers... They're heavy as hell and thicc with like 5 c's
