    I had to disagree with you about the HDMI port. I think it's great they brought back the port and I would prefer a real HDMI port over thunderbolt and using a dongle in a thousand miles

      The amount of times me or the people I’ve been in meetings/projects with needed to plug into an hdmi is surprisingly common. Dongles are a joke and are never around when you really need one. HDMI is super common and very useful.

    Finally upgrading my 2015 13" 8/256 Retina MacBook Pro soon. this mac still runs great! the only issue I'm running into is battery life and being stuck on OS Monterey. for regular day-to-day users, these machines are a beast. this mac will be kept as a collector's item for years to come.
    for the upgrade I'm thinking of grabbing a new 13" Air & an M4 Mini a little later 🤭

    Bought the 14 m4 pro 24GB Ram / 1TB SSD as my first Mac and its by far the best laptop I've ever used. Really hoping Microsoft get their shit together or the eventual AMD or Nvidia Arm CPUs give a laptop that runs this cool and with this level of battery life.

    The HDMI port is nice for a corporate environment. Most conference rooms have HDMI cables for projecting or using a large monitor on the wall. Those of us with only Thunderbolt would have to carry a dongle around with us. Occasionally, you would leave one in a room. It was a bit of a pain. Just bought the 14" M4 Pro. It is an awesome laptop.

    16" all the way. The 16” comes with a couple of bonuses: the display is larger, you will get more of that beautiful mini led display, the bezels look slimmer due to the ratios, the notch looks smaller for the same reason. The 16” gets a larger trackpad which is more convenient to use and the speakers are better giving richer sound. As far as battery life the 16” gets three hours more in terms of web browsing, and also gets a more powerful 140 watt power supply.

    • @insidethecourt
      @insidethecourt 8 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I compared the two at an Apple Store and the only thing I like about the 16" is the larger screen size for working with multiple windows. Otherwise, the 14" is so much more portable for the same power. But to be honest I also compared the MacBook Air and 15" is really the goldilocks. Apple needs to release a 15" MacBook Pro!!

    The 2021 14" Macbook Pro is my first and the M1 Pro has been a beast. I still don't feel there's a need to upgrade (M1 Pro, 32GB, 2TB). I won't lie, I'm tempted with the genuine increased in performance and battery life, matte screen and maybe switching from Silver to Space Black. I'm curious to see the redesign. I'll continue to hold out in hopes they add a touch screen and maybe face ID and make use of that notch.

    Please note the nano texture display can attract permanent scratches more easily and with less hard materials than the regular display.
    Meaning debris in a cloth could be more likely to create scratches on a display which isn’t cheap to replace.
    So bear this in mind. Also the contrast isn’t as good as the regular display, but it does look good if you’ve been looking for a matte display option!

    Maybe it's me, but I don't really get the "portability" argument as it relates to 14 inch vs 16inch MB. Coming from a mid-tier Windows 15 inch laptop, I never owned a Macbook in my life, I find both 14 and 16 inch MBs super portable devices. Additional 500 grams, 2 cm on top and 4 cm wider is supposed to make 16 inch not portable? Come on... both are super portable machines. I've looked at both devices in Apple stores on several occasions and for me the 14 inch is just too small, working on it long term would be much less comfortable than 16 inch screen.

    New subscriber here! 👋🏼 Thank you SO much for this review! I am looking at getting this exact computer/specs for a video editing and some Photoshop work as well! I was wondering if the trackpad ever gets hot? I recently returned an M3 max because the trackpad was overheating already…
    I’m basically between this m4 pro or an M4 max chip with 14/32 GPU, 36 gb, 2 tb and just wondering if Max chip is a better investment in the long run/better for editing or if the m4 pro with a little less GPU/memory bandwidth is plenty? Thanks so much! ☺️🙏🏼

      Same here, i have intel 2019 16inc MacBook Pro, but it heats up something wrong with it and is not so fast any more, i was thinking to get MacBook Air 15inc love how thin it is, but i think i go for MacBook Pro 14, because of new M4 chip and beautiful display.

    Still using my 2020 M1 MacBook Pro with the regular M1, 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage. Maybe I'll upgrade once the M5 MBP comes out. At least, if the M5 is a 2 Nm processor and if there is a redesign. If the M5 is just more of the same, I might wait for the M6, which is at least 2 years away.

    been using the m1 air 8/256 for a while now, I do all my school work on it, side projects on it (some of my coding projects are very intensive), and it has been holding up strong. I am very familiar with its limitations tho, and am considering upgrading to the M4 pro.

    Hi Issac, should I buy the 14” M4 MacBook Pro with the m4 pro 24gb ram 512gb ssd or m4 16gb ram 512gb ssd configuration for my use case? I need it for beginners photo and video editing, programming, web browsing, watching yt videos, listening to music and podcasts with high quality audio interface and headphones amp, taking it to university with me sometimes, and media consumption.

      i was in the same boat as you. i’m a student, i dj as an actual job (meaning a weekly basis), i edit videos, use my laptop for an LED wall at work. anyways, the 24gb ram w 512gb ssd would be a great investment. i picked one up today. given that you’re starting to work with more programs, it’s better to plan ahead an invest in a laptop that can handle a potentially larger work load in the future. you never know what might come your way, especially for the type of work you’re doing.

I really enjoy being able to take out my laptop and work from wherever i'm at. for me personally, I'm never at home, so the laptop suits my lifestyle better.

      Well it's really simple. Do you want a portable computer you can use anywhere, or do you still want to stick with a desktop?
      Me personally, I believe Mac Os is more ideal on the go for it's compact and condensed nature. I would rather have a windows device for at-home use because it's capable of more configurations
      But if you already own several products from Apple (iPhone, watch, iPad) I guess buying the Mac Mini makes sense to complete the Apple ecosystem

    • @hardlydenegrade
      @hardlydenegrade 11 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      my macbook pro arrived 3 days ago with the same spec you have and i can tell you compared to my old i7-960 gtx1060 setup to shame. The main reason I would say you should get the mac mini is how cheap it is, and if it already replaces the desktop you have, you can keep all the peripherals, something you pay for with a macbook. The roles switch with the M4 Pro where at barely much of a price bump you get a great keyboard+trackpad+display+battery. If you can i really recommend mac mini because it is really cheap but if you want a laptop go for it, just be warey its pricey

    It's funny how blocks like the EU are forcing certain device manufacturers to USB-C, but not TV / Monitor manufacturers who are using HDMI, perhaps because it's a separate standard. However, I think it's yet another unnecessary standard like USB-B on printers. As an aside, I've been using a 16" M1 for a few years now and my opinion is it's quite portable and I prefer the larger screen real estate. I can't imagine using a 14" at this point.
