I can completely agree on the benefits of smart home/automation. When I was having a good stretch, I took advantage and rewired all of the light switches in our home, added Home Assistant hub, motion sensors, door/window sensors temperature sensors and smart plugs and wrote automations to make things easier. For me, personally, it's helpful to be able to switch my light to green if I have a migraine, but need some light (such as bathroom light) People that see us as lazy simply don't know what they don't know.
About decluttering videos--I was actually decluttering while watching this so I definitely would enjoy some videos about that. They're kind of relaxing. That pre-packing idea is great! I'm in the process of trying to set things up and streamline for college. I only have two classes this semester so hopefully I'll be able to arrange things well enough to manage them.
A couple tools I’ve found useful are my shower chair, and for oral hygiene: dental floss picks, a water flosser, and if you have retainers (or just want to disinfect your toothbrush) a UV retainer cleaning pod (mine was a good price off Amazon and was from the smile direct club brand). An air fryer is also great for cooking easy meals.
I get exhausted and in pain easily (still trying to figure out main cause), so something I found really helpful with cooking is a rice cooker. If you just want to heat up something or cook something small, I always use rice cookers because it's easier to use. I have one that is small and it is just one button, it goes from "warm" to "cook", then you set it and forget it, check in occasionally depending on the food to cook and easy. I found that much easier than taking a pan or pot out, or putting the food in the oven or microwave, because it is just so much less to worry about. Hope this helps anyone!
Get a Roborock or something similar - you can control it with your phone from your bed 😆. Also the mini dishwashers are perfect! Both things CHANGED MY LIFE! I used the latter for about a year and a half before I moved here and got a full kitchen. I think it’s strange but also I cannot describe how much better my life is with these things. I‘m autistic/ adhd and have to live with limited energy in a world that was not designed for me. Sure it’s not the same as ME/CSF but I really like tze content and relate to the low energy „theme“ and just to you as a person. Fun fact: since I’m autistic and love repeating things I downloaded you Madrid storyline and your chronic illness timeline videos and I listen to them all the time when I’m in a bigger city or at an museum and stuff and weirdly it helps me connect back to these places. Like for example when I’m in Hamburg listening to this I’m thinking oh I remember listening to this whilst I was on vacation in Edinburgh walking through the national museum and stuff 😅.
YEEES! Such great thoughts on making everyday tasks easier. I'd love to see your decluttering process. I also use lists, including one for everything I might I need before leaving the house -- because I usually remember my phone and wallet, but often forget to take a water bottle, or reusable grocery bags, or to put some extra bobby pins in my hair, or to wonder if there's any paperwork to bring along. All of those are on my list.
These are all such great ideas!! I recently moved into my own place (my mum lives near) I got myself a wee dishwasher and its perfect! Having a bag packed when I need to stay somewhere else or go into hospital would make things a lot easier! Wishing you the best in making your life more streamlined! A declutter vid sounds fun and helpful! 💜
Hi Elinor! I'm able bodied but neurodivergent and so is my wife. Your video just inspired me to order a rice/porridge cooker to simplify cooking when days are stressful and also to declutter some things around me. Please please make a declutter video, I love them :) Greetings from Switzerland
Have you considered a robotic Hoover, like a Roomba? It would take out the physical effort as well. This is a really useful video. I have done things in the past to make things easier but I slide back into trying to do things the "normal" way. I'm struggling to get in the shower today and just realized I can use the big shower that has a chair. Thanks for sharing your experience.
😊 I'm currently thinking about getting a mini-dishwasher, too 😊. I struggle with meal planning and eating because I have to wash the dishes afterwards 😮. Reducing anxiety is such an important thing to figure out.... And yeesssss, I ❤ decluttering videos ❤. Too much stuff triggers my anxiety, so I'm minimalistic and looking this kind of videos is so relaxing. Do you know the channel "A hoarders heart"? Miss Heart declutters and she gives a great insight in emotional issues of decluttering, strategies and lots of motivation. I love her channel, even if I never had issues with hoarding.
my whole house is linked up to my HomePod and iPhone I can lock doors and turn lights on/off even see who is at the door on the camera and its a huge help to me as it take me ages to get to the door in my wheelchair if my wife is out. I also have a bag of stuff as I travel a lot for work so I have a bag of stuff that I can just grab and go with its also good for whenever I have to go into Hospital.
Robot vacuum/ mop if you have hard floors. Why don't you leave toiletries, pjs, underwear ect at ur parents then u know it's always there and get them to wash them so it never leaves there house. It's what I did when I went uni so I dnt have to worry about taking stuff when I went home for the night. Microwave meal for the day you have no energy to cook
Make up remover wipes/ face wipes so you can sit in bed and clean ur face/ make off Antibiotics surface wipes, so much less effort than a cloth and having to get water. Making a things have a home and putting them away once finished with so you don't have to look around for the item you know where it will b. If you struggle to be consistent with brushing ur teeth possibly have some mouthwash in ur room and a cup to put used mouthwash in then when u have the spoons empty the cup. Might be worth getting a dehumidifier to help with the damp in ur house. I find using the calander and notes on my phone helpful. Possibly have a shared calender with ur parents.
I would love to see more videos about how you use your bullet journal to help manage chronic illness! I used to bullet journal but I never thought of using it to track symptoms and things like that! 💞
this has been the encouragement I needed to also start making my life easier (saving my spoons) :D! I always enjoy watching your videos and would love whatever kind of declutter video you make!!!
Hey! I don't know if you take requests at all, but I really love and appreciate all your content on CFS and I am really curious about your opinion on channels/youtubers promoting content around how "they healed completely from CFS" or basically touting a cure for it? I am feeling so mixed about it because I feel like they're bs and full of crap, or feel like they had something that wasn't actually CFS but then I get wondering if I just am keeping a "bad mindset" around incurability and such... anyways sorry for the irrelevant comment, I couldn't figure out a different way to message you other than this! Again bless you for making your content!
Good video. It is good to have a TH-camr that provides practical tips on how to cope with an illness/disability. Hope you don't mind me making a suggestion to you? Have you thought about doing a career online/over the phone in the future, such as a life coach, for example? Xx ❤️ ❤️
I don’t know if you have an Alexa but if you do if your family has an Alexa as well, you can use it to drop in on them when you don’t feel like using your phone or whatever

I made a hospital go bag with psych hospital friendly toiletries and stuff. It saves me a lot of stress. It’s just a ziplock bag with small stuff.

as a student with chronic illnesses this is so important! and difficult to do with adhd haha
What I like better than a bullet journal is the Finch App!!!
