Enjoyed your Mobility car story.. I feel sorry your health is such especially your age.. Myself I have had various issues in my life.. Mainly my feet which effects my legs and Finally I ended up with blood clotting.. But not to worry... Listening to your verbal conversation I like the way you put it across it opened my eyes to how my life has changed in the last 25 years. My Mum had poor legs and feet and I suffered similar I had my fair share of health issues. I am 60 at present and I sadly had to sell my family home partly because I couldn't trust my health.. It was the house our parents brought us up in so I only had to give my sister half the value of the house.(owned house February 2000 -March 2003) Anyway getting back to your car choice I agree with Reliability 100% But I feel very sad that this country gives everything out on a loan basis and take a percentage of your PIP.. Years back in 2000 I saw my dream car it was brand new and lovely car Mercedes CLK 320 Convertible..£42.000 brand new and despite in 2000 my mum passed a house was very important to me.. I have never really owned much in my life.. I was taught If I didn't have the cash I went without. In my eyes brand new cars depreciate in value.. but I feel £2500 can buy a really nice car.. And changing your car every 3 years.. you get a better car.£16 a week over 3 years and if you buy well your old car has to be worth around £1500 - £1800 private sale over garage part exchange. You keep more of your PIP you still get free car tax and insurance is same whatever.. I do own a Mercedes CLK 320 I paid just £1200 and it has my initials I still own it today OU52 TJX and I believe I can get most of my cash back if I sell it.. But I have varied collection of cars and £22.500 is the cost of purchasing all my collection. Over 9 years.. My actual favorite car Is my Range Rover Vogue I love how easy it is getting out of it especially when my legs are bad.. I prefer Automatic cars to 5 and 6 speed manuals especially with 20 mph restrictions.. I've learned a lot in 60 years no one tells you how to get our lives in order. I flipped my lid with my sister when I found out my beautiful niece bought a possible brand new Mini ONE Convertible That could have been her deposit on her first house or flat.. I don't get families as my sister only had my ambition status at a one bedroom maisonette.. My actual dream property 4 bedroom house in its own grounds with driveway and big garage.. My downfall is cars.. My collection came under budget at £21.695.. Looking forward to watching more videos shortly..TJ
By the way, thank you for your ROLLZ candy pink videos. I just got mine yesterday and it's an electric! Because of your videos i chose the awesome pink!
I get a powerchair from the Motability scheme as I struggle to drive a car more than once a fortnight so I didn't think a car was worth it. My partner has a private wheelchair accessible van so I use that just don't drive it. 😂 i have to drive an automatic as I lost my manual licence due to EDS & ME as I have a medical licence.
@VintageRayne it is a restricted licence. Basically I have to have a medical every 3 years in my case before I'm allowed to drive. My licence also says what adaptations I need to be able to legally drive.
Have you thought of getting a lightweight mobility scooter? I have a Travelscoot. I don’t have anyone to help me so need something I can lift by myself. I also don’t have the energy to use a manual wheelchair so the lightest weight mobility scooter has helped me be able to leave the house on good days. It would fit into your car as I have a small Honda Jazz (Fit). It helps minimise PEM. Goodluck. Btw I’ve had ME/CFS for over 40yrs. Love your videos.
I hope you don’t mind me asking, Were you chronically ill when you learnt to drive? If so, how did you find it? I’m considering learning. Also, giving gorgeous Barbie vibes with your hair and that pink top!
Great video, I will come back to this if I ever get PIP approved, I'm considering getting a car. Its been 1 year since I first applied for PIP. I'm still waiting for my appeal hearing, and I will also have to update them as I get it anyway as I can't walk as far any more, and I think you need to be able to walk less than 20m to get theon the motability scheme.
@@ecologist_to_be Yes, I'm aware thanks. It's confusing though since I applied August 2023 and could walk considerably less by October, and I have gotten even worse since then, I am now largely bedbound, so I don't know how it works when I eventually get approved.
Here’s a Q for your next video about Motability please. Why do war pensioners get Motability cars about £1300 cheaper than all of us other disabled people? Many thanks. We should all pay the same surely?
and yes I have all the questions about the motability thing cause I absolutely don't know what it is ... at first when reading the title I thought it was going to be well a scheme video ... like if you're were going to talk about how people are falling for a schemed 🙈 Maybe because English isn't my first language who knows xD
In the UK they use "scheme" as a different word for "plan" or "way to get something funded". This is indeed very confusing for non UK people. I was very suprised when I learned this as wel!!
Sometimes the best way to decide is to just go with the vibes. I’m petrified of driving but the lack of freedom is getting to be too much. I am beyond happy for you, truly! Congratulations!!! 🎉🤍🦓🎀
Aren’t you the hero! Clearly you have no idea how hard it is to be assessed for the high rate of PIP that enables you to use Motability. German car would be not good for you as they all have very hard seats and I don’t think they make self charging hybrids only plug in which, is a waste of time. Try French as in Renault, they have various hybrids. I have a Renault Austral which is wonderful. Renault have Clio, bit small, Captur bigger but still small. Always go for the biggest car you can get as just using all your allowance is the way to go. Don’t believe you don’t need all the toys, they are very handy without realising that they help you. Power tailgate is always a good option and ideally you want a boot big enough for the mobility aids and, room for other things too. I always go for top spec as it doesn’t cost any more than the same total allowance. I got my Austral in 4 days this time but it usually is a 3 month process. Go and test drive everything you think you might like because only then will you know. The great thing about Motability is apart from fuel you don’t pay for anything else at all and the major plus point is you never have to pay to enter any clean air zone in UK. Advance payment should never be made until you are collecting the car because, until you enter the Pin Motability send you then you can back out of the deal right up the last minute. Don’t know if you are aware but we are also excempt from tolls but, generally you have to apply for each one separately. Yep it’s a pain but the excemption is the Dartford crossing no need to apply as they use ANPR to identify we are disabled taxation class. This is something that really annoys me because every other toll provider claim ANPR means they cant automatically do this! Near where I live are the Mersey Gageway bridges cross the River Mersey at Runcorn, I had to apply for the zero rate permit but, it is operated by the very same company the manages the Dartford crossings.
When you are on the couch sleeping almost all day because you're so tired and one of your fav creators uploads a video

So nice to see a new video made by you! Great you're getting a bit more independence with your new car! It's lovely!
Great to see you with more freedom and independence 🚗
Congratulations , I have mobility problems & have been thinking of purchasing a car . Wishing you every success & here's to freedom & new beginnings .
Aesthetic preference is a 100% valid reason to pick an option!!

wow great that this is possible in the UK :D

@@ecologist_to_be What is a medical license, please? Is it where you’re only allowed to drive for medical appointments/ER visits? 🧐

Yes that's true 20 metres or less but remember reliability criteria.
Your appeal won't take into consideration a worsening condition just in case you didn't know.
