Tenzin was such a badass in Korra. He was a non-violence Airbender but when his family and home is on the line, he'll whip up a hurricane to defeat his enemies. He almost went toe to toe by himself against the red lotus who were criminals out to kill when all he wanted to do was peace

Dude that had to more than 20! I thought I should mention there was decapitated fire nation soldier bodies, so some the monks were able to pressurize their bending enough blast the heads off the people. Air bending is strong enough to erode entire rocks away in a matter of seconds, so they’re definitely capable of tearing the skin off human bodies. Even in lok i think the full potential of air bending was explored.
I think once jinorah reaches her full potential she will be stronger than everyone. Gyatso was able to be amongst 2 avatars. Unfortunately for Aang and Tenzin they had the weight of the world with them! Something that limit the free spirit of airbenders

i do agree with you! i think tenzin could have been more powerfull and more intune with the spiritual side of airbending if he wasnt so focused on rebuilding the air nation and trying to make is father proud. to much pressure on him and the same goes for aang i mean he was a 12 year old kid who just learned he is the avatar and boom 100 years passed and he has to defeat the firelord or the whole world is done for

Jinorah has a good connection with the spirits but isn't that strong of a bender.

Honestly, being already as old as he was prior to the Air Nomad Genocide, i'm pretty sure he unfortunately would've died of old age before Aang came back (although if the White Lotus formed early enough, he may have been mentioned as having been a member by one of the members we do see in ATLA, be it Bhumi, Pakku, Piandao, Jeong Jeong, or even Iroh).

I think Aang and Monk Gyatso were on the same level of air bending, looking at the so many things Aang could do with air in the ATLA. Suffocating was not jus' Aang's thing and doing. Despite Aang's looks as a 12-year-old kid, his air bending was still the strongest in history. That was proven when he singlehandedly stopped a volcano without entering the Avatar State. Like, that air bending was so powerful in that scene. You wouldn't argue with me, watching that scene where a stopped a volcano, and other scenes, as well, where he displayed powerful air bending skills and techniques. He was already a master and a prodigy, even before he turned 12. Aang wasn't a ferocious and aggressive fighter like other benders. He was extremely great.

@@Chi_06 Fist off Aang was always the avatar, even if he was untrained, and that did increase the power of his air bending. Yangchan had many great feats without tapping into the avatar state.

I don’t think he was a master of the PHYSICAL side of airbending. I’d say he was a spiritual master. As the only way to fly is to release yourself from earthly emotions wants and desires. He was the first to do so truly causing the body and soul to be weightless and thus inventing flight.
Flying doesn't make you better master. To achieve it you must abandon pretty much everything else. Something family or friends oriented people would never do.

Zahir learned a forbidden air, bending technique created by avatar YangChan let’s not forget how she can also manipulate the air around someone to make gravity collapse upon them, and a few other different lethal techniques she created even in this intro we see her been so powerful, is moving the trees itself, and bending them towards the wind I believe she is by far the most powerful Airbender

I don't like that tenzin is ranked above zaheer. I think zaheer and Aang actually might be a toss up. And i really wasn't expecting to see giatso on the list since we see so little of his feats and most if it is fan speculation.

If we only talk about airbending and put the avatars aside I think zaheer is number 1 and that without him reaching his full potential yet I can say if it is airbending fight I think he can go toe to toe even with Aang
I don't know if I'd rank Gyatso number 1. Great feat yes, but these were fire nation soldiers that have always been shown to be fodder in the series. Even with the comet amp, they can't be compared to Ozai, Zuko, Iroh, or Azula level benders.
Monk Gyatso could’ve also slit their throats with an air blade too. Remember when Aang mentioned that wind sword from the sword handle after trying on the armor? That could’ve been his last move against them before dying to the suffocating heat amplified by the comet.

He could've but probably didn't, Gyatso probably never did anything like that, it's far ore likely Aang just came up with it on his own
@@kaidoinwano4620 Monk Gyatso was the greatest airbender ever. Airbending is seen as the weakest form of bending in terms of lethality. I’m just keeping an open mind. I don’t find air suffocation to be unique that other airbenders could do it too. The air sword/blade, or one that I forgot to mention, air compression to pierce through to their hearts or brains for lethal shots could’ve done it too.
@@Sun-Warrior1911 Monk Gyatso was most definitely not the greatest airbender ever, it's literally stated that at 10 years old Aang surpassed all the masters, which includes Gyatso (now greatness isn't only based on that but it's pretty clear that if someone is better at 10 years of age and they continue to improve their entire life that they wouldn't be greater than them either), Aang was already inventing new techniques back then and continued to do it throughout the show, constantly, which is why it is way more likely Aang just came up with it on the spot, it didn't look like he had seen technique used before and new how it would work but rather it looked more like he was saying how it is supposed to work (in theory), at least to me

Good job choosing Hindustani Classical music as your background score. There is cultural similarity between present day Tibetans and Indians, and it went well with the video. Though I suppose you could've also added in traditional Tibetan music. A few gongs and chants would've mixed in nicely.

i always actually loved that air nomads are that much pacifist, because that leaves space for my headcanon that implies they do it because they are op af and that is why they don't have sub bendings. Because they are potentially too OP. And no avatar could get to know the real airbending potential as air nomads always tought the bending as a deffensive
Theoretically they could Bend the Air in bodies making it potentially Just as strong or stronger than bloodbending
Air bending has sub forms, but I feel as though it hasn’t been explored much just because there hasn’t been too many Airbenders. In Aang’s life time, both metal bending and blood bending were discovered. Lightning bending seemed pretty new; Iroh said he learned it from studying waterbenders, though I’m not sure if he discovered it per se. Meanwhile, while the other three elements have had many benders, there was only Aang.
Zaheer rediscovers flying (airbenders in Wan’s time seemed to be able to fly too). There’s also spiritual projection, which is attributed to air nomads but I’m not sure if that’s *technically* airbending.
Jinorah might well be the most versatile Airbender ever...her spiritual prowess is pretty much unmatched by any non avatar. She created multiple abilities in LoK that NOBODY else had.
Tenzin's pure combat ability probably doesn't get talked about enough. Defeating Zaheer 1 v 1 and stalemating up to three of the most powerful Red Lotus members at once is insane. Especially when not the main character.
Aang has to be #1 though. At 12 years old he was not only defeating professional firebenders like nothing, he did it super easily and while not even going 100% most of the time. He effortlessly just danced around them and played with them like they weren't there. Imagine a 12 year old going against a 25 year old pro in literally any real world martial arts competition. As toph said...imagine me at my prime.

I love Tenzin. He's one of my favorite characters in the franchise. That said, I think Zaheer is more powerful than him. Tenzin was obviously steonger during their first ie counter, however once Zaheer becomes "untethered," everything changes. Zaheers ability to fly makes him too fast and the range on his attacks becomes pretty crazy. Not to mention the fact that Zaheer is likely to be stronger in any of the speliritual aspects of Airbending.

I don't know why he puts tenzen above him just because of their first encounter it's obvious that zaheer became more stronger than him afterwards and I said more stronger because I love tenzen but in my true opinion I will say way stronger

I just though about something, the color of the eyes in the avatar world is based on the element running through the blood of the parents (all water bender and all of water tribes origins have blue eyes, same with fire and earth) and by seeing Mako and Bolin being mixed-nations we saw the brown = fire and green = earth. But with the harmonic convergence people of all origins gained air bending (until then only grey eyed characters were airbenders) but they kept the eye color that they had before, so does that means that if their childrens inherits the capacity to airbend (or inherit it in their blood to pass to a future generation) do they gets grey eyes or do they keep the color of their parents, does that means that only Aang bloodline will have grey eyes ?

gyatso was low key badass. In the live action show Sozin even says point blank that if hadn't been for the comet Gyatso would have won.

Remember in the other lists (Tribes) you did not add any of the avatars such as Avatar Kora, Roku, Kyoshi, Kuruk and Yancheng! Even Avatar Wan 🤭

Definitely agree. I understand it’s hard since there’s so little airbenders in the show, but if Aang gets to be on this list, Korra should definitely be on the water bender list

Zaheer should easily be 2 or 3. He mastered an ancient art that wasn't done for thousands of years and even as a non natural bender.
For me he is number 1 at airbending because I don't think putting ang in this list is fair because he is an avatar and I don't think beating a 10 or like fire soldiers even with the commit is big feat and for tenzen I think zaheer is way stronger than him he just judged by their first encounter and that doesn't make a sense

I feel like Aang is the definitive most powerful since he's the only one still alive, the same goes for Tenzin since his only competitors are his kids and Korra

He pulled many moves that were unexpected from someone like him. The combustion blast he survived was from smart thinking. The move he used on the bison poachers. The moves he used on the Dai Li

If Zaheer had more time, he for sure would have become the most powerful non avatar air bender, given what he accomplished in such a short amount of time.

In my opinion Zaheer should be #1. Not having him in the top 3 is a crime.
1. He studied airbenders his whole life as well as their forms
2. He learned to use air bending offensively
3. When he was granted air bending he was immediately nearly at master level right out of the gate.
4. He is one of only two known air benders who achieved the ability of flight. Not even aang or Gyatso could do that.
5. Had he been a bender his whole life his potential would have been unrivaled.

The reason why i added Aang was because he was already a very powerful Airbending Master, before he became the Avatar. And most of his airbending feats were done without the Avatar State.
Aang was straight up stated to have surpassed all of his masters by the age of 10, he’s #1 and it’s not close (btw no other airbender has any feats anywhere near shredding the pillar in seconds)

Most firbenders were very powerful during an eclipse, but not to the extent that Ozai was. This is because Ozai was already an extremely powerful bender, and hence, his power grew by a greater factor during the comet. During Sozin’s comet it is shown that non-firebenders could still take out multiple firebenders during the comet. Because of this, I think that while impressive, Gyattso’s killing of those benders is not even close to the kind of power displays Aang has shown. Aang is still goated.
Also Aang was only 12, Gyattso is like 100
I think Jinora should probably rank ahead of Zaheer if not Tenzin because of her mastery of the spiritual side, something only Aang on this list can really compare to. Even Tenzin admits his failure in that department as his greatest weakness.

flying isnt actually reffered as a power. in avatar the last airbender they show us that airbenders used to fly but due to their earthly attachments ( sky bisons), they lost the ability to fly. zaheer opened his chakras and left all the earthly attachments, so he was able to fly
