Peter Brock was the driver in the old clip in the 05 car. He was Craig Lowndes teammate when he joined the Holden Racing Team. Brock died a few weeks before the Bathurst race in 2006 and the winners trophy was named after him. Craig Lowndes won the first Peter Brock Trophy 10 years after his first Bathurst win.

That last clip, Wincup (The Red Bull) did not take an optional pit stop to refuel during a late safety car, and his team were on him about slowing down to be able to finish the race. Wincup ignored this and kept pushing, trying to win, but 2/3 of the last lap left, he ran out. The Car that won, actually started the race from the back of the feild, as they were involved in a crash in practice. the v8 supercars in the 2000s was my fav growing up and the drivers Craig Lowndes and Greg Murphy him being a kiwi from new zealand like me and didn't know they were teammates back in 1996 and won bathurst
Something I just learned yesterday while listening to an interview with Craig Lowndes as he prepares for this years Bathurst was that the winning margin when he won the first Peter Brock Trophy was .05 seconds that just happened to be Peter Brocks race number .
Have you guys watched the Drivers special on Supercars site? Worth the view. Was lucky enough that I got to meet Lowndsy, SVG and some of the other drivers when they rocked up to my work about 5 years ago. Great bunch of guys happy to chat and autograph memorabilia.
Hi guys, I hope you're well. Loved the video! Watching you get a taste of the 2014 Bathurst 1000 and the dramatic finish got me excited to watch the race again. When you started asking for comments explaing the context of the last lap, my gut reaction was NOOOOOOOO! no one tell them anything about it. Just tell them to watch it. Here is a suggestion for a boys sunday watching cars and downing a few beers. I'll put a link to the race tv coverage at the bottom of this comment. In my opinion, it's the single greatest race in motorsport history; any class, any track. I don't say that lightly, I'm a MOTO GP guy, but that race.... The fun part is that if you decide to watch it through, you'll be wondering how in hell does the Pepsi Max car wins this thing, whilst sorting out ALL the other madness that was 2014 Bathurst. You're welcome, thank me after the race and keep up the great content.th-cam.com/video/ebayHuvb2ho/w-d-xo.html
lol!! So what is crazy is that we recording 6 videos on Bathurst 3 for this week and 3 for in the future and one of those was the 2014 race and we were in aw! What an amazing race! It is a longer video but man we were just so invested we couldn’t stop but talk and try to work everything out on what was happening! That video will be coming out before the end of the year!
Hey guys, love the video. You've got to watch the Top 10 shoot out on Saturday afternoon (Friday your time) with the top two cars separated by only. 0006 seconds in qualifying. It's going to be a close one.
I just watched the qualifier and Sweeney I believe it was went crazy. I won’t be able to watch the shootout live but will try to watch it before the race!
If you want to watch something cool and you like your racecam, look up Peter Williamson onboard in the Toyota Celica. Starting in 1979, this is history in the making that gave us the classic Brocky moment onboard years later. Also, Peter is absolutely wringing its neck, and this will give you a greater understanding of Bathurst of old with the different categories and whatnot.
I'm pretty sure that the thing you are talking about with Murph getting flak for was because he had great big hairy cojones and the rest of the field couldn't understand it!
First qualifying round - less than 0.02s between the top four, half a second between the top ten, 1 second spread for the top 21! WAY back this used to be an "endurance" even where drivers had to nurse their cars - now they'll be treating the race as a 1000km (620+ mile) SPRINT race, driving flat out!
There is a video on YT of Peter Brock's second last drive in a Targa event in Western Australia. Unfortunately, he didn't make it thru the next leg. It's believed he was suffering from fatigue after travelling to the West. He was driving a car being developed in Australia similar to a Viper. RIP Brocky05 Sim Racing channel
He was driving a replica Shelby Daytona coupe. They were basically a Shelby Cobra with a more aerodynamic body for high speed, the body was designed by a Texan by the name of Pete Brock.
Yeh, Brocky died in September 2006, and Craig Lowndes started his career with Peter Brock, and one month after Brocky's death, Craig Lowndes won the Bathurst 1000.
Yeah SVG has been doing well on the road and street courses, but he's learning fast on the ovals as well. Let's not forget Scott McLaughlin head to head in the V8 Supercars Scotty Mac 48 wins SVG 20. I would have liked to seen him in NASCAR, but the upside is I've become an INDYCAR fan. A lot to watch this weekend Bathurst, SVG on the roval to stay in the play offs. My pick for Bathurst Will Brown/Scott Pye, with Brock Feeney/Jamie Whincup equal favourites, but I'm hoping for David Reynolds/Warren Luff. Zach, turn 8 at Adelaide 220 klms./hr. and the driver has got it right if he wipes off the mirror ! The altercation is Greg Murphy and Marcos Ambrose, Ambrose went to NASCAR and dominated at Watkins Glen.
I don't recall anything about Murphy's lap of the gods with cheating, the only thing I assume it would be a piss take because he's a Kiwi. As you get in-depth with F1 especially, it's how all the technical departments can exploit the technical rule book that maybe, on the surface seem questionable or interpreted differently. Thus being the reason why engineers and lawyers shouldn't write any technical regulations because their speak is grey and confusing. They need a technical writer to interpret into lamens terms and for any qualifying assessments then the engineers step in to adjudicate. The race where the Pespi (Mostert) took the Redbull on the last lap was because there was a safety car about 20ish laps before and Redbull didn't drop any fuel because they assessed they'd have enough as long as whincup saved fuel for a few laps, they told him to do this for about 10 laps prior but he kept pushing and that was it.
The 05 will be back this year but not in the main race. An ex Brock Commodore HRT 032 (driven by Brock in 1996) will be driven by Martin Wagg in a V8 heritage revival race. My mother is the biggest Brock fan on the planet- she is nearly 82 years old!
To the proud bogans who still think the Holden was an Aussie car and the best on the road, race teams have always cheated as have most successful drivers. The problem is not the cheating, it is the cover up by vested interests that is the real problem.
