I am The Canvas I understand that, I'm just referring to the point where everyone seems to bring up the fact that a Shaq-led team put away the Bulls in 6 in the post season during the year Jordan first came back. They appear to use that as justification as to why Jordan and company couldn't possibly beat a team with Shaq on there while forgetting about the 1996 gentleman sweep. Of course he was more dominant in 01, but people still refer to 95 Shaq as proof while forgetting about 96.
And the "dominant" Lakers lost a game to a bullshit-ass Allen Iverson-led Sixers team in the 2001 Finals and people are using these numbers??? Remember in 1996, Seattle beat the defending champion Houston Rockets. People are funny!

To be fair, Rodman would be the one guarding Shaq
iforian uchiha 2K can't simulate Rodmans x-factor either. It does a poor job of simulating physicality and tough play, which Rodman was a master of, & we've probably all seen the footage of Rodman as a Bull holding Orlando Shaq down & ruining his offence. 2K is great fun, but there's limitations to its simulations & you'll consistently see crazy stuff like MJ going missing in the clutch or Kobe struggling offensively as you see in this video.
And would have gave him problems. Shaq was bothered by the smaller power forwards like Rodman, Oakley and Anthony Mason.

I am an old school bulls fan. I have to say though, this is a tough call. If it wasn’t for the Jordan refusing to lose factor, I’d give it to the lakers in 6. With the best all time version in my opinion ever of Jordan in 96, the Bulls take it in 6. Prime Kobe gets shut down by Prime Jordan too. The Shaq factor is a tough one. Just don’t think it’s enough.

Rodman contributed a lot in that series by allowing the bulls to go “small” and did a great job in the paint; defensively on the boards and just overall annoyed Shaq like he did most players.
That was the bull strategy where they put a weak defender on shaq let him score his points IE Longely and Wennington, then put a strong Defender on shaq IE Rodoman who would shut him down. there are plenty of videos out there that demonstrate this. That shows how when Rodman was guarding shaq he did not score.
IT was similar to the Jordan rules minus the flagrant fouls, but it was the defensive strategy the Celtics used on Wilt Chamberlain

How could you give home court to the lakers? I'd be assuming this is game 7 of the finals. Playoff seeding is based on regular season record. 72-10, #1 playoff seeding, home court advantage. Other than that, what difficulty did you have it on? How were the teams set up for mins? Its not even just a playoff series, its game 7 so both teams would have a 8 man rotation MAX(maybe 7) which would change how long the bench is on the court and how many starters are always on. Did you fix the team settings for how they play, ie shoot at will/patient or crash boards/transition? Easily done using statistics, I'd use the last game of the finals for each team's title run. Did you make sure adaptive coaching engine was off?
Without this kind of in-depth tweaking, you're just getting a simulation of ratings, not play styles. 2k makes every team play the same way unless you change the settings based on real stats. The historic teams do have some changes but they arent accurate, they're poor guesses to be honest. There is an actual answer, its not just opinion at all. The stats tell you everything you need to know. Just compare them to all time highs and lows and set them up. Both teams run the triangle so the offensive focus is accurate when set to neutral focus because its an equal opportunity system.
This is a nice game, it was fun to watch, but it didnt capture the way they actually played. You can blame 2k and they deserve some, but you have to be willing to go the extra mile to get the best representation. Maybe Im taking it too seriously but its a serious debate to me. Everything should be set as accurate as possible for both teams. Dont trust 2k to do anything right. Its not just rosters or plays that win games, its matchups and styles of play as well. Think of a team that defends the paint versing the gsw trying to get shooters open on the perimeter. The Warriors are gonna have a great game most likely. Each of these settings can be brought down to 2 simple mathematical equations. All-time high + All-time low then divide by 2. All time high - all time low, divide the result by 3. Thats your scale for all 3 settings.

Phil Jackson's Bulls did play deeper rotations in the playoffs than Phil Jackson's Lakers. I think that's partly to do w/ who the personnel of the teams he was playing against, and partly to do w/ that his Bulls teams usually had better bench players, and were a tad less top-heavy (no disrespect to Pippen).
