Hello and greetings to the United Kindom. Thank you for your lovely video, I can see how much you enjoy the new Barbour Bristol, very nice 😉 I just bought my second Barbour jacket today, also the Bristol but in navy. Here in Germany many people think that a Barbour jacket is boring, conservative and stuffy, but for me this fashion embodies elegance with quality and functionality. Pretty much the best jackets there are and equally suitable for hunting as well as for business. Best wishes from Germany, Lars
Its great to see a fella wearing a barbour thats not a poser ! Thou i think that big pocket at the back will be missed . The reason Queen Elizabeth choose a Beaufort over a Bristol is when the Corgis got a bit tired when out on a walk , her madge used to chuck em in the rear pocket ! Seriously guys that pocket is msssive !
You should have sent your old one back for repair to Barbour, they look fantastic when repaired with patches. You would have saved some money on a new one too!
Greetings from Rhode Island. I have a gamefair I bought second hand thats about 30 years old , still in great shape I wear it almost everyday from October to March. Perfect for the ups and downs of New England weather. Cheers on the new jacket may it give you many years of faithful service.
Nice video. Got my Bristol about a year ago now, and I’ve loved every minute I’ve had with it. The trimmer cut of the Bristol is nice, while still allowing for layers underneath.
What a great video; nothing better when you get that one coat that does the job right. Quality coat that will last for many years to come. Like a trusty old friend. Liked and subbed 👍 ATB Mark.
First time Ive seen your comment Mark! Thanks for dubbing old Boy should be more vlogs coming soon when this bloody long winter gives way to spring All the Best Smith 😉👍
Thanks! Just got the same Jacket, it like a Range Rover I keep it for best and have a new Gore Tex Berghaus for every day and Dog Walking/work like a Shogun!
HEY do you know if large is much bigger than medium when sizing,,im 5 foot 6inch and got medium one earlier today.I am medium build and jacket is good size, just wondered if large would be too big thanks Smith
Hey Smith, I remember watching your old video on the jacket. I never heard of them before. They look like they are very well made jackets. I like your shirt. It has really big pockets that would fit my little 22 caliber pistol nicely. Nobody expects someone to have a pistol in their shirt pocket. I think you may have the very first on bagging video on TH-cam😃
New jacket looks fantastic and a great fit on you, I'll have to check out the Bristol. I think the Beaufort looks amazing too--other than the torn arm. I currently have a Beaufort as well-how long did your jacket last?
Had the old Jacket about 14 years re waxed a few times and worth Every penny thanks for the feedback and I Hope your beaufort gives you many years service!!! All the Best Smith 😃👍🥂
this guy should try the barbour northumbria or the border...exactly the same pattern jackets...but the northumbria is a bit heavier 8 oz rather than 6 oz these are the real country jackets for all weather and layering... the beaufort is a bit posher really....and not as long. the borders and northumbria have 2 inside poaching pockets with poaching sacks that can be detached...they are large and can hold books , flasks, you name it...beans if you want to ..as they are water proof poachers pockets.
Nice one Mr Smith! Have to confess, not a fan of wax jackets. My ex 30 years ago was a Horsey Horsey type, and bought me a wax jacket (think it was Barbour but not sure now) for my birthday at a Horse show. It never felt comfortable for me, and when it did get soaking wet, it used to stink the house out. These days, with Goretex and similar fabrics about, there is far better out there. Stay safe & well.
Do it have nylon lined sleeves?…my Ashby jacket does and it makes my arms sweat terribly!!…plus is the Bristol a regular fit rather than a slim fit? again my Ashby is ok open and fits perfectly on the shoulders etc..but a bit of a bloody squeeze when zipping it up!..it was a present but wouldn’t have been my first choice of style and fit!…more suited to a 10 stone hipster!!
The Ashby is the worst choice you could make. It's only a slimmer, slightly shorter version of the Bedale, which is already the shortest Barbour waxed jacket you can find now. For me, the best of all is the Moorland, longer than the Bedale but shorter than the Northumbria and with a very useful poacher's pocket on the rear (maybe it's the jacket this guy had before, or maybe he had a Beaufort, a lighter version of the Moorland, not as sturdy). Anyway, he wanted a new Barbour, he bought a Bristol, not a good choice. Definitely, the Moorland is from far the best of all, even if I find the nearly mythical Solway Zipper much more elegant or the Sapper more comfortable and warm with its padded tartan lining (even warmer than the old Northumbrias' thick tartan lining !)... And by the way, all these jackets are more generous in size than the disastrous Ashby, and all have tartan lined sleeves, which won't you make sweat like a pig !
@@giveitaswingoutdoorswithsm2901 How could I disagree ? The poacher's pocket is one of the best features of the Barbour jackets, even if you never put any rabbit or pheasant inside. Anyway, I really do prefer the Moorland, much stronger. Delighted to have an opportunity to have exchanges with another fan of these fabulous jackets !
For this guy i like the british people. All the best from Berlin

Why didn't you send your Beaufort in to be repaired?! That would be part of its great 14 year journey. It is just getting broken in!
LOL...the badge! Love it. Had a Barbour since I lived in Perth Scotland back in the 80's. Its in Texas now.

If nothing else I have learned that it’s a genuine Barbour. 😂.
😃👍
Hope the new one doesn’t shrink like the old one has.
Oh No does the old one look too small! I fear its me thats grown 😅
You look great.
Thank you Charles 😃👍🎣
You could call it “First Look” instead of unboxing. 💁
Is this as fitted as the Ashby?
Hello Luke if you Mean by fitted a shape hugging style I would say No its got plenty of room for a jumper underneath though 👍🎣
@@giveitaswingoutdoorswithsm2901 thanks old chap... Will look into getting one!
@@giveitaswingoutdoorswithsm2901 what size did you get?
