Hello and thank you for the little story. There are many such stories, too many because every day that this war lasted was one too many. Far too many good men, women and children died on all sides. My uncle was sent to the Eastern Front shortly before his eighteenth birthday and died a week later. He was not a Nazi, he was a child who was given the choice of going to the front or being shot straight away. My father and my grandmother were driven out by the Red Army. While fleeing, my father was shot at the age of five and my family never saw their homeland again. This war has brought so much suffering to all of humanity, it must never happen again. When I was a student visiting London with my class in the early 90s, an old man attacked us with his walking stick when he heard us speaking German and called us Nazis. Even as a child, I couldn't be angry with this man because in that situation I understood the suffering my nation was bringing to the world. It's nice that we are friends today🙏 Many greetings from Germany, Lars

Hello and greetings to the United Kindom. Thank you for your lovely video, I can see how much you enjoy the new Barbour Bristol, very nice 😉 I just bought my second Barbour jacket today, also the Bristol but in navy. Here in Germany many people think that a Barbour jacket is boring, conservative and stuffy, but for me this fashion embodies elegance with quality and functionality. Pretty much the best jackets there are and equally suitable for hunting as well as for business. Best wishes from Germany, Lars

I caught this fish on Chesil beach uk...never seen it before and was careful to check its spines on its back but the ones on its gills got me. The fish opened out its Gill covers and dug left and right and got both my hands. Painful...loads of bleeding though it may have not been poisonous in its Gill covers.

I've had a few Barbour jackets over the years started with a Gamefair then a Border jacket both had short sleeves which I hated but stuck with then around 8 years ago bought a Barbour Fontenbleau from ebay for £35 it's very much like a Beufort except the game pocket zips are rectangular with the Barbour logo and has 2 zip up wallet pockets on the inside and in chestnut brown , never heard of this jacket but I live in it. Then last year my wife bought me a Beufort 40th anniversary in navy I like it but not the sleeves but haven't yet had the wet arm syndrome. My Border has now been past down to my eldest son a jacket that is 1 year older than he is and he told me he will get the sleeves lenghend and the tear on the inside repaired. Love the video and hope your shoulders get sorted.

My dad and uncles were in the Pacific during the war. One of my father's friends told me a strange war story he said that he was in India during the war and would fly over the Himalayas to Burma and one time he flew and the whole airplane was full of white mice. He remembers flying over the mountains and feeling strange to be in a plane full of white mice he never found out what they were for. I'm guessing it was from medical testing. I can only imagine the sound all of those bombers would have made in the air that the German soldier heard. Here in Miami a long time ago the Coast Guard base had old World War 2 seaplanes and in the late 70s they retired them and the planes flew over Miami in a farewell flight. They were very loud when flying alone but in formation they were thunderous and there were only four or five of them I can imagine what it must have sounded like to have hundreds of those type of aircraft in the air. I hope the war ends in Ukraine very soon. It's crazy that there are so many people wanting more war and nobody in authority trying to shut it down. I wish everyone that wants war to go to the front lines with their families I think this crap would stop overnight

I have 4 Barbour wax jackets and old utility and a new Northumbria which have cotton lined sleeves and a couple of beacon sports jackets with nylon sleeves (in blue and olive), the cotton lined sleeves have been great, you would also like the 2 large poachers pockets on the Northumbria, on the inside though, each can take a 4 pint bottle of milk! For the 2 beacon sports jackets, I bought the blue one new about 10 years ago and immediately had problems with the sleeves, I took it to the Barbour shop and they replaced the sleeves under warranty as it was put down as a “fault”. This was a slow process though as warranty items seem to be at the back of the queue for work! I more recently found a second hand beacon sports jacket cheap second hand in olive and immediately sent it back for a clean and rewax and to get the sleeves re lined, all in it will cost £85 (£50 for the clean and rewax and £35 for the sleeves relined). A relatively inconvenient and high expense on a not particularly cheap jacket but I want to enjoy it and be comfortable wearing it so makes sense. I like the style of the Bristol, slightly shorter and more fitted than the Northumbria but a lighter waxed cotton as well (6Oz v the Northumbria’s 8Oz which I’ve bought specifically for colder weather). One thing to be aware of with the Northumbria (and I think the Beaufort as well) is the sleeves are on short size, I’ve read this is for shooting so they don’t get in the way. They are fine for me, I’m 6’2, slim build and wear a 38. Hope you are able to find a way to get the Bristol’s sleeves altered so you can enjoy it properly!

In the more tailored Ashby model the polyester lining in the sleeves might make sense; it is easier to slip the lightly tighter sleeves over for instance a blazer. But the Beaufort sleeves are roomy enough to make this possible even with cotton lining. I have no idea of the cut of the Bristol, if the sleeves are tight or not. But I think Barbour saves a few pence going for polyester lining.

I own a number of Barbours in various styles and this is my biggest complaint with the Ashby, which is otherwise a wonderful coat. I've thought about sending it to Barbour for a sleeve lining modification. Wife has complained about the same thing with her Beadnell which also has poly lined sleeves. It's a major misstep by Barbour IMHO.

Hey smith, I live in the tropics so am a dummy when it comes to winter clothes but even I know they shouldn't have made an impermeable liner on the inside. I have an old shirt I use for fishing that the pockets wore out so I added clear gorilla tape on the inside and they have held through two washings.Good luck with your medical adventure.

I have three Barbour wax jackets and they’re great but I also ordered a Beaufort 40th but sent it back because of the polyester sleeve lining and the condensation issue , Barbour need to stop this , you can get Barbour to put better sleeve lining in but on a brand new jacket it’s a bit of a Micky take.

They are mostly junk nowadays. I just ordered an Ashby and returned it because it had faulty stitching… then I ordered a Bristol because because the Ashby was so obviously lesser quality than the old style barbours. The Bristol arrived with a stud broken off so was returned also. I’m glad that happened rather than having soaked arms through sweating. Both jackets are clearly just fashion jackets rather than performance outdoor jackets - like my previous older Barbour jackets - like the Solway zipper etc that were all made in the UK

Does anyone believe that the Barbour waxed jacket is superior then any other cheaper brand ? I own a lovely Beaufort classic ,I bought 3 months back , new , no labels ,via ebay £106 inc p&p I have also owned a 2 Dukes and a Bedale , my recent purchase which was delivered earlier was a new forest brand , identical to a Bedale other then the handwarmer pockets weren't moleskin lined , main lining was a different type of tartan and the zip didn't have the Barbour logo on it, this jacket cost me 16 quid with p&p. A friend of mine has a Dickies wax jacket he still wears after 9 years. Personally i think there are many other jackets out there that are cheaper but just as good

Most of the barbours nowadays are not made in England - and you can tell they aren’t the same quality. The classic Bedale is one of the few that are still made in England and is good quality. However the older jackets - like the discontinued ones (Solway zipper etc) were much better quality than these new types. The older jackets could last you 20 years if you rewaxed them ever 2 or 3 years.

I have frozen shrimp for year and after thawing and cooking them. I couldn't tell that they had been frozen at all. Hope to see more videos soon.
