dasp125 Thanks. Watching this video now makes me cringe a bit because there are so many mistakes in it! I was never very comfortable with the BTB bass I used in this video; I feel a lot more comfortable with my SR 300.
This bass is an Ibanez BTB 670. Really nice bass, but this one was a bit damaged when I got it; the electronics weren't right. I changed it for an SR300, which is my current bass.
It was a bit rough around the edges but a great performance I watched it about 10 times. all the fills were there and some moderations which I loved were there too. Man you should be very proud of that performance. If I was on Xfactor, you would be going through. Thank you for your rendition of a brilliant tune. and keep up the good work. Totally enjoyed it and thank you.
Yes, its a bit rough here and there...but hey, it's rock 'n' roll!! Seriously though, Duff McKagan in a brilliant bassist and in my opinion very under-rated; his bass lines are really complex and imaginative, so not that easy to copy. I actually struggled through this one, but it was a while ago now and I'm sure I could do a better job if re-visited it now. Thanks for your nice comment though; always nice to read :)
I happen to be working on this song right now. My first night delving into it. That is how I know you are not playing it correctly. I don't assume that your intent was to play it correctly however. I can just tell you are versed well in knowledge of scales and that was how to came to formulate your choice of notes. But make no mistake I do not think you are not playing it correctly I know for a fact it's incorrect. Have you heard the Isolated bass track for this song? That is what I am learning it by. th-cam.com/video/5IG2f4K49vI/w-d-xo.html
It is what it is. I copied from the track , not the isolated bass; I'm not even sure the isolated track was available in 2012, when I recorded this. Its open to interpretation, and I'm happy with the result. If its wrong, its wrong; I can live with that. At least 48 other people seem to like it the way it is, so I'll take that. I look forward to seeing your attempt when you post it. :)
Understandable. I think you were taking my comments as criticism tho and they were not. I might have it up this week end or maybe later not sure. Lots of bass licks that I suspect were improvised in the studio that because they were are hard to keep track of and place correctly. I will probably have to chart the song out with the riffs in their places. NO need to wait to see something by me that is 100% correct, I just loaded this one up last Sat. Bass player in the band was good enough to send me the tabs personally. :) th-cam.com/video/Ty6ZIIevOSc/w-d-xo.html
I don't use tabs or read music; I just break a song down piece by piece. Anything that was imporvised in the studio can be improvised again by anyone else, that what music is for. I wouldn't know if your video is 100% correct of not because I've never heard it before and its not something I would ever listen to anyway; I don't do thrash metal. Nice gear though :)
Nice! Thank you Sarah. May God Bless.

👍👍👍👏👏👏😊
Thanks
What bass is that?
You seem to be relying on your knowledge of scales for the bass fills but while they sound good they are not correct.
Well excuse me !!!
I've tried to replicate the original bass line as closely as possible. If you think I've got it wrong you are free to think that.
