    7:35 - the ionizer may be intended to make the driver more alert. It has been shown that the lack of the natural slight negative ionization of the air (typical for man-made environments) leads to increased fatigue.

    Give all those security features a chance, I had the same annoyances but in the end I like them.

    What about the seats? Does this car have the new generation ones? If yes what is your opinion about them? Are they better?

    • @bjornnyland
      @bjornnyland  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      hahe111 This car doesn't have the nextgen seats. They are the same as the old seats except for higher headrest on the rear seats.

    Hi Bjorn Nyland
    is it normal to have fogged / condensated headlights?
    i just picked up mine a few days ago. the headlights were fogged on the first day, and it happened to be a rainy day. upon request they changed the pair for me. unfortunately the so-called "new headlights" have the exact same problem a few hours later since I brought it back from headlights changing.
    that's not cool.
    appreciated for answering.

      Daniel Lam It's a common issue on the Teslas as well as other cars. My previous car, BMW 525d E61 also had that problem.

    Thanks for the comparison/review. Well done, despite having P85D stuck in your brain. :-)

    Wait, I'm confused. How can this be from 2015 if it's a P85+, I thought they stopped making those last year when the D was announced.

    • @bjornnyland
      @bjornnyland  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      DrToonhattan Actually, when I looked at it again, it was a late 2014 model.

    So the frunk is only available in RWD models?

    • @mochouinard
      @mochouinard 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No, but it smaller on the AWD

    • @babybirdhome
      @babybirdhome 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mohammad Sadiqi That little cubbyhole at the back of the frunk isn't there in the D (AWD) models, because that space is taken up by the front motor-- that's the difference in space between the two models-- but they both have the rest of the frunk in common.

    • @KimAbraham
      @KimAbraham 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      babybirdhome actually, it's not only the small cubbyhole tht is disappearing. The large space in front is also +- halved. So yeah, the D's frunk is much less usable.

    Are you concerned about the resale value of the Millennium Falcon with the 100K+ Km's ?

    • @bjornnyland
      @bjornnyland  9 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Greg Hudson I have no plans of reselling it for a long time. And by that time, all cars will have a low resale value due to age anyways.

  • @babybirdhome

    What was your impression of the new electric brakes compared to the old vacuum brakes in the Millennium Falcon? Did you notice any difference between the two?

    • @bjornnyland
      @bjornnyland  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      babybirdhome
      The new brakes felt sharper and more instant. The old one had a slight (probably talking about milliseconds here) lag.

    Have a test drive scheduled but am having second thoughts on placing an order after reading this reliability report www.autoblog.com/2014/07/31/tesla-model-s-edmunds-long-term-reliability/ seems quite a lot of breakdowns and downtime for repairs in 18 months. May be should wait for model x instead of getting the 70D

    • @michaelmoses8745
      @michaelmoses8745 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      veryannoyingname I would just like to say that the Model X is a new model. There will be problems with the Model X initially. That is unavoidable. By that time, the model S will have more experience.
      I like what Tesla does, but there will realistically be problems with the initial rollouts.

      Many of this issues were caused by some loose cables near the motor that made noises during driving. Tesla was too overcautious (especially because of Edmund) so they did full replacements of the driving unit although they weren't necessary. Some time later they found out about the cable and this issue is solved for all the future cars (also they weren't real issues in the first place).
      There were only 2 real issues that owners of an old Tesla could have: The first one was a dead 12V battery and the second was a failure of the main battery due to broken contacts. Both will be unlikely with the new Teslas. Everything else are minor problems and not worse than with ICE-cars.
      So, no real problems with "lots of breakdowns" of the Model S at all. Especially with a new one.

      Steppenkater Thank you.
      I was reading up on safety testing on EURONCAP and USDOTNHTSA but none of the testing involved the optional 3rd child car seats being tested for safety. Can't see any airbags there. Tesla forum blocked my post on the model x forum with links to EURONCAP testing videos and article about what was tested! Can't understand why that was blocked as spam! Other stuff posted by me is allowed. Have now tweeted both EURONCAP and tesla asking about formal safety testing of 3rd row if it was done or to give disclaimer that independent safety testing of 3rd row child seat option was not done. Guess will wait for model x with proper 3rd row with proper child protection in 3rd row seat .

      There are no airbags in the trunk. All they have is a reinforcement of the car structure when ordering backward seats so the backside of the car won't crumple much in case of an impact. That's why you can't order the backwards seats afterwards.
      I don't know how they tested this seats.
      But I think a proper 3rd row like in the Model X is the better choise.

      I heard the Tesla Model S took a semi truck to the arse and drove off. Without a reinforcing bar as is common in ones with rear child seats.

    Bjorn something is strange with this video. It doesn't play on my computer (inside the browser), and all your other videos (well, all I tested) play fine. Did you encode it differently than others, did you do any new processing? I can still play it if I open it in VLC, even in HD so it's not my computer :-)

    Enjoy your videos. My dilemma--I currently have a rare brown p85+ (vin 37,000ish) with 22,000 miles with everything on it that it could in July of 2014 and I'm tempted to trade it in for a rare unicorn black p85 (Vin 63,000) with 11,000 miles with exact same features put has Auto pilot plus get a 50,000 warranty. Thoughts? Would love to have the Auto pilot but am I going to lose too much in the feel and handling going to P85?

    That is weird, I've never seen my power limitation act like your does at 180km range left when accelerating. Your go down really low. That might be a problem... Though, your car have much more millage than I do(Just passed the 30k km mark).

    Why doesn't any TH-cam "review" mention the fact that UK & EU models have less safety features than USA model i.e. 6 airbags vs 8 airbags. There are no knee airbags in UK & EU versions. Tesla is removing safety features present in the USA models but selling them for more cost in the UK & EU. IF THEY ARE SKIMPING ON SAFETY FEATURES ON UK & EU MODELS COMPARED TO USA MODELS THEN WHAT ELSE ARE THEY SKIMPING ON IN THE UK AND EU MODELS! I know it got 5* in EUROCON testing but they don't require knee airbags like in NHTSA testing in the USA. Had my test drive and noticed UK models and EU models dont have knee airbags and confirmed this from Tesla who told me only USA models have 8 airbags and other models have 6 airbags, when other models cost more but have less safety features, it is irritating so canceled my plans on buying the model S. Hopefully they won't be doing that on the model X. Keeping fingers crossed on that. Will place a preorder for the model X soon.

    Bjorn. Thank you for the review. I am sure that the shirt you are wearing is nice...but it appears to be a V-neck undershirt that is accompanied by flannel pajama bottoms. A slight upgrade in style commensurate with the vehicle you are filming yourself in would seem to be in order. Just a critique. I feel your wife may say something similar given the opportunity. Cheers!

      @marksmith7868 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Bjørn Nyland Sorry, Bjorn. I gave you the impression that the style was inadequate...it's just distracting from the information you are delivering. It creates it's own storyline that departs from the vehicle.
