Hi, all from Big sound authority. Martin and Steve are salt of the earth and have always been a great support and inspitation to me they were not in control after the Directions but gave a thousand percent to the band. From a great friend and fan Julie Hadwen
Julie, you have the most amazing voice ive ever heard, this song always makes me emotional because its so wonderful yet you and the band never got the recognition you deserved. Ive never heard anyone hit a note like you did on here. Please know that you have fans who appreciate you beautiful voice.
Hi everybody, message from Julie Hadwen, thanks for all your support, just to let you know my solo album Sanctuary will be available on itunes in a couple of weeks. God Bless and keep enjoying your music xx
Belting . Love this song your all havin great time performaning. . Still have 12" disc good luck in life & music ..one almighty powerful voice JH .. from JH !
Message for Julie Hadwen - when I was a wee lass in 1985 I wrote you a fan letter and you actually bothered to reply! I was dead chuffed. Thank you for that!
Ohhhh.... I'll never ever forget being a 15 year old boy and watching this on TOTP and falling in love. A fantastic performance, a beautiful woman... oh to be 15 again...
moved in with my girlfriend and we had a vinyl night nothing kinky only 45s and she played this song and i thought it was brilliant, how did i miss this in the 80s now 1 of our songs, thanks who ever put this on!
Big Sound Authority threatened to be huge in 1985 and deserved to be. I remember Peter Powell of Radio 1 backed them but sadly the early promise was not fulfilled. The powerful vocals of Julie Hadwen should have been at the heart of all the songs as clearly she has the best voice. Moving Heaven and Earth was a great follow up and should have been a hit but it wasn't to be. Somebody should encourage Julie to continue making more albums as the last offering on Sanctuary Records shows her voice is still excellent. This House is a great track and makes 1985 sound like it was yesterday- I would return in an instant.
Recently converted the vinyl of this to mp3 so have been enjoying it all over again. Great to see the performance that made me go out and buy it a gazillion years ago.
Don't know why I suddenly remembered this song, but it was on an old "Hits Video (VHS)" with a number of other songs from that time. I was just a kid at the time but this is one of the few that sticks out from what I can remember. I don't really know anything about this band but I remember the song.
the cotham bowl in redcar has now been pulled down I saw big sound authority here with fruits of passion with my good friend damian hunt in 1985 they were really good days keep the faith x
Still a good song.I recently found an hits of the 80's Album, this song was on it.I hadn't heard it in all these years. Thanks for putting it on here, really good to see them performing it.
Hi Tracy, Thanks for your note, glad you are still in touch with the guys. I saw Martin and Steve a couple of times last year. They are fine. Take care of yourself, love Julie
Forgotten 80s gems......The Promise You Made by Cock Robin is my no. 1 (sorry BSA!)......but this one could well be my no. 2. I love it now as much as I did 33 years ago. Knocks spots off the awful dirge that makes the charts nowadays!
hi there julie i think big sound authority were brilliant i came to see you at the coatham bowl in redcar i was proper little mod glad to hear your still singing really miss bsa take care simon x
How great to see and hear this again after 20-odd years. I'd forgotten how good it was and what a terrific vocalist the lady in black (Julie, I seem to remember?) was - and I presume still is, wherever she may be. What have they all been doing since?
Hello all, message from Julie Hadwen, thanks for all your support just to say that my solo album Sanctuary will be available on itunes in a couple of weeks Take care all and keep enjoying your music
@ellenmeilee Hi ellen, thanks for remembering that. I always replied to any letters that came through and appreciated the support. Hope you are well and happy. Best wishes Julie Hadwen
Saw them at Hatfield poly now Herts Uni in about 1985.....my mate Mel thought it was funny they started the show and ended it with this song......omg so long ago.
+petee19 The Inward Revolution was just reissued as a Deluxe Edition by Cherry Red with pretty much every track they ever recorded. shop.cherryred.co.uk/cherryred-exd.asp?id=4982
I saw this band somewhere in London at the time maybe Hammersmith Palais or the Venue in Victoria can't remember rightly however they were bloody fantastic what a tune and what a voice Julie had. Forgot Weller had something to do with them. Shame they had a short shelf life.
I used to spend a lot of time in The Laurie Arms next door to the Palais. It had a great juke box and I remember the landlord Dennis McCarthy and his partner Betsy. Early to mid 1990s.
@pippa6540 nice to heard from u and hearingyour still into music, knew all the band in the old days see martin offen and john burke is my bf,so ill must tell him your doing well take care in all you do love always tracyxxx
Think it was on one of Weller's vanity record labels in the 80's. Respond records??? Great tune but don't remember them doing much else- anyone know what they're doing now?
I was on the taping of totp for this show.I was the cant next to Tony Powell,When He presented Dead or alive, performing "You Spin Me Round " I Think I had on more make-up than Pete Burns back then.lol
I've got their album on cassette in the loft somewhere, its sad that something I loved is now just cast aside. It was a little pocket of time EBTG, Working Week, FYC and all that. It was a a good time to be well groomed! Good job it wasn't grunge as I would have never fitted in don't you know.
@dailystar65 Dear daily star 65, sorry I haven't replied to your comments and messages I don't actually have a computor at home so I only have a limited amount of time. I am a Christian but the songs on the album are not Christian songs although I would be proud if they were, my faith has got me through many troubled times it's a shame you haven't got a faith it really helps. take care, Julie

One of the most under rated songs of the 80's, an absolute quality tune this
Thanks to TOTP 1985 I’ve come across this gem. Amazed that they didn’t go on to better things but they still have a classic track. Great stuff.
The most underated song ever I loved it

Great tune remember it well when we were young Mods in 85.
Awesome song, they actually rang me up in 1985 and said thanks for joining there fan club. I will never forget.
Same here! I remember being really chuffed with that. Saw them at Leed Poly, must have been 1985 or around.

Julie could certainly sing.
Top tune, top singer!
I've never heard of this before, but the latest TV Cream Monthly emag linked me to it and it's superb!! Time for a revival methinks!
Cool, sexy, British northern soul ... the best of its kind on all of TH-cam

I was playing the 7inch of this this morning. Not my sort of thing at all but I love it!
i remember hearing them on piccadilly radio being interviewed when this was out, the singer seemed painfully shy
Big Sound Authority released one LP with some superb tracks back in 1985, why has this never been released on CD or even available from iTunes,
nlgbbbblth Only This House is on the CD you mention,I was talking about the one album they released.
+petee19 The Inward Revolution was just reissued as a Deluxe Edition by Cherry Red with pretty much every track they ever recorded. shop.cherryred.co.uk/cherryred-exd.asp?id=4982
Sadly missed B.S.A first time round wish they would reform to let me see them perform, great song
Great stuff! Used to work with the keyboard player!
I saw this band somewhere in London at the time maybe Hammersmith Palais or the Venue in Victoria can't remember rightly however they were bloody fantastic what a tune and what a voice Julie had. Forgot Weller had something to do with them. Shame they had a short shelf life.
If it was Hammersmith Palais, I was at that gig, and it was blinder!
I used to spend a lot of time in The Laurie Arms next door to the Palais. It had a great juke box and I remember the landlord Dennis McCarthy and his partner Betsy. Early to mid 1990s.
Mr Brother lived in the same house as the lead lady singer a few years after the group split
@pippa6540 nice to heard from u and hearingyour still into music, knew all the band in the old days see martin offen and john burke is my bf,so ill must tell him your doing well take care in all you do love always tracyxxx

A Clasic 80's trak......great lead and tight band, best of all it dosen't even sound 80's........
wasnt that guy in the directions, i loved wknd dancer.
Great band. Better than most eighties efforts.
used to love this song, the guy from the directions is getting a bit excited for the cameras though, calm down son!!!
Paul Weller must have had a hand in this? It's got style council written all over it...
He signed them to a label he was associated with.
Do you have the full show of this? It is from the 31-1-85. its the only show I dont have from the first 4 months of 1985.
reminds me of the housemartins a bit... i think this is really good!
unfortunately i wasnt there ... great song tho!!!
