Loved the series, thanks for bringing it back together.
When I realized that a big chunk of Goju katas might have been created by Miyagi Sensei I just started thinking about how much of a genius he really was!

I just discovered your channel and your content is so high quality! I notice you haven’t uploaded a video in 10 months. I really hope you’re still planning to create more content.

Okay, new drinking game, watch any one of Jesse's videos and each time he says "Okinawa the birthplace of karate" you take a shot 🥃
    Great video 👍

In the early 2000s there was an online Karate Research group called the Shotokan Research Society International.
This group categorised karate as the arts that evolved from Matsumura's teaching and that everything else was pretty much kung fu.
By their definition, karate is the synthesis through Matsumura of Southern Shaolin kung-fu, indigenous Okinawan boxing and the Satsuma clan's jujitsu/taijutsu/principles of Jigen ryu.
Interestingly Jigen Ryu has a tradition of repeated striking of a wooden post that looks like a lot like a makiwara.

I haven't seen all your videos but the ones I have seen are awesome. Wondering if you know of this book entitled "Karate no Kokoro by Seikichi Toguchi." If you don't have it already, you might want to get you hands on it, and possibly get it translated (or translate if yourself if you know enough Japanese). I don't read Japanese, but I think this book translated would be very popular!
