  • In this video I have a Carrier AC unit that is low on refrigerant. I search for the leak but come up empty. So I use One and Done Stop Leak with UV to try and seal the leak and filled the system with refrigerant.

With all the talk about not damaging the coil fins with too much water pressure spray while cleaning coil etc etc. I have never understood why the manufactures don't have some sort of protecting seperate band at the top of the coil. The lids just sit right on the top of the fins and they can easily get bent or crushed while reinstalling the lid. Just doesn't make sense to me. Good video man , watching from northern Delaware.

Yea, your right. Some manufacturers do have a piece of foam or protector up there but most don’t.

Hey bro can you make a video showing us how you actually inject the dye into the system? Nice job man keep the videos coming.

What sucks is I thought I was recording during the process but I wasn’t. Really bummed out over that. Almost didn’t even post the video. But yes, next time I add it, I’ll record.

1st company is known to have early leaks in their evaporator coil even within one year from installation .

I use the Bluon TDX 20 in place or R 22. What are uour thoughts on it? I love using it. It seems like leaks are the most common in this business. So many cheap evap coils. I cant wait to see what happens with this new mmidly flamable R 32 A refrigerent that is coming out.

I haven’t used the TDX 20. But I’ve heard from multiple ppl it’s pretty good. Yea R32 should be interesting. Although R32 is one of the refrigerants that make up 410a and they are very similar on a PT chart.

Nice video man. Quick question, I replaced the capacitor and fan and in the process I messed up and dropped the fan. I nicked the condenser, it’s a tiny leak, it lasted for 5ish months at least after having almost 2 lbs added. It a small unit too. Will a stop leak work or just fill it to get through summer? I do have a.vacuum and gauges too. Thanks again.

It would at least slow it down if nothing else. It's always better to repair the leak or replace the leaking part, but if those aren't realistic options for you at this time then sure, give one of the stop leaks a try.

@@JeffsHVACAdventures appreciate that, any stop leak you would recommend over another?

That Tekmate is good for R22. For 410A ain't going to pick up. Use ultrasonic or infrared

I’ve found a good jag of 410a leaks with it but your right, I’m do for an upgrade!

Fieldpiece SRL8 has been good to me for 410 - a little quirky at first, but won’t let you down once you get the feel for it. Nathan’s HVAC has done excellent videos on leak search & detectors. Tekmate is fantastic for 22.

Inficon tekmate is a top-notch refrigerant leak detector that actually works.

I’m not an HVAC technician so forgive me if I missed it, but did the Stop Leak work? Also I didn’t see you do the leak detector in evap…was there a leak in upstairs system?

I don’t remember the particulars of this call without going back and watching the video. We haven’t been called back out to this one so that’s usually a good sign. 🤙

Whats a motor cost like $100, $150 i think id do that vs calling it wasting money it could run another 3 or 5 years could run another 3 months unless there was other problems like the compressor wasn't compressing well or something i would definitely not be looking at a new one sure a new one will probably be more efficient but id just let Tim know options

Will this stop leaks from condenser coil from multiple areas of it of condenser ?

There is no guarantee it will stop any leaks. I would say if you have multiple leaks, your chances for success with it will go down with every leak.

When should you pull a vacuum when adding to an empty system????

    • @JeffsHVACAdventures
      @JeffsHVACAdventures  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

If the system is empty due to the refrigerant all leaking out, you’re going to want to try finding the leak with nitrogen and repairing it. Chances are it’s going to be a pretty large leak then and not very hard to find. After repairing the leak, pull a vacuum as close to 500 microns as possible then charge.
