If you love horses that much you wouldn't dump them at auction for kill buyers. That is completely descipable. You should do the right the thing and keep them until a suitable home can be found.
No way would I EVER send a horse to auction! Sending a lame, old horse is a guaranteed a trip to slaughter. My TWH is 20 yrs. old but in excellent health, shape. But come the day when I can't ride him, he will stay with me till the end. I also board my horse so I will still pay for his keep till the end. I hope someone can get through this person's head about how horrible the slaughter pipe line is. Sad.
@@kajinsautumn9833 The sad part is many people who own the horses abuse them then dump them at auction hoping to make a few bucks rather than having the animal euthanized. They don't care.
I worry/suspect those 2 old mares with lameness and sway back will end up being sent to Mexico 🇲🇽 for horse meat 🥩 This is what I’ve heard happens to low value horses 🙁
Clearly you didn’t care what happened to the HORSES so long as you made your bigger better deal. Down here in Georgia we call people like that ‘hustlers’. Animal welfare doesn’t matter, human welfare doesn’t matter (because I’ve seen some barely green horses you sell as broke to ride) the ONLY thing that matters is that you fatten your wallet.
Great video. Very interesting. It was great to ride along. You guys did great with the little calf. That’s amazing. Those little guys don’t have much of a chance and it sounds like you did very well with all of them. As for the fillies, the buckskin looked like it was limping a little. And I hope they are as young as you thought they are. My boyfriends grandpa bought a beautiful Palomino yearling stud colt at that same auction in Arizona. He sent him to a trainer to be halter broke and broke to ride and found out even though he was small and looked young he was really 11 years old. Blake sure seems to be a great young man. This world needs more like him.
I love your channel. I am a city girl, but loved going to my cousin's farm to ride horses. The darker horse you sold at auction looked like she was limping?? That baby calf you named Miracle made me teary eyed! Love a happy ending. My favorite horse is a Buckskin!! They are so beautiful
She did have a little limp...you can actually hear them announce that as she came thru the autction. We don't know why...she was like that when we got her. I love buckskins too!!! and thats awesome you get to experience farm life sometimes!!!
Your wife didn’t seem at all surprised that you came home with the 2 new horses. They are pretty. I bet Blake will have them in shape in no time. Blessings, Love & Hugs from Vicki in Ft. Worth, Texas 🇨🇱🇺🇸👍❤️🐴🐎🥰🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
For all those complaining about slaughter bound horses: How many times have you watched your neighbours or friends breeding their mare because they wanted a foal to raise or sell? How many “aww that’s so cute” comments have you made on foal videos? The problem is the large population of unacceptable horses. It’s similar to the literally millions of dogs and cats being put down in shelters. People don’t care to spay and neuter, or they think there’s a good permanent home for every critter they bring into the world. Affordable euthanasia for horses needs to become a part of our horse culture. I feel so bad when an owner gets old or loses their resources to keep their horse. When a horse cannot be sustained by its owner any longer, for whatever reason, there should be no shame in saying goodbye in this humane manner. The owner would know the horse didn’t end up in a kill pen injured and suffering. This would stem the slaughter pipeline somewhat if that’s what you really want when you tell people to not sell at auctions. Quit judging individual owners and shame the excess breeding that’s going on if you want slaughter to stop. Promote affordable euthanasia and disposal. Take the shame away from that. Many say it’s not just the slaughter, but the cruel transport and barbaric methods of handling and killing at slaughter. But making horse slaughter illegal in the US effectively put control of it out of your hands. So here we are. Temple Grandin is the go-to person on the matter of humane handling at slaughter plants. Rant over. Cheers.
I know that taking the horses to the auction is a quick sell but if the kill buyers get them their remaining life is horrible and the way they kill them is horrible sometimes the horses aren't even dead when start slaughtering them . It's not always about making money . Also with all the diseases at the auctions I'm surprised you don't quarantine the horses you buy from there .
Blake sure does have an excellent work ethic and attitude. Very impressive. Those are just lovely young 🐎 horses. You definitely have a new project. Thanks for taking us along & sharing! 💞

Just a comment: when you take a horse to an auction, how do you know if there isn't a killer buyer bidding...wanting to pack them up and send to slaughter....??
Good job..just one question if the two old horses didn't sell would you take back home with you or will they be shipped off for meat? Not trying to be rude love your channel but the way auctions run in my area if the horses do not sell they get shipped to Mexico for meat😭
I’m sorry you feel this way I guarantee the loving homes they went to were much better than starving to death on the reservation because of the drought

I don't like to say this because I used to like your videos, BUT as an intelligent man who is a teacher of young minds you know in your gut that those two old and lame horses ended up in the slaughter pipeline.
