- Join us on the Farm as we go and pick up the most expensive horse i have ever bought! Meet Penny our new horse and wow is she ever a beauty! Her registered papers are impressive and even has Frenchmans Guy on her papers! We head across town to pick up the beautiful filly - she was a little difficult to catch but worth the patience! She will be a fun one to train and see what we can do with her.

I have always had babies halter broke & handled when they sold. She is very pretty with good conformation and a sweet personality. But the sellers should have had her caught & ready for pickup. But all in all - good job.
no worries...just glad she is ours!
Her legs should have been wrapped. She come close to having them injured getting out of that trailer with no ramp on it.
Rebecca, there would have been another fight had they tried to wrap her legs. And no wrapping is better then a bad job. My daughter is a 3 time Reserve World Champion and our horses do better not wrapping when hauling. I have seen more bows, leg problems from incorrect wrapping then I care to mention. So they did well for a short haul.

OMG I had a liver Chestnut mare called Penny for years. She was the fastest horse I ever owned. I put her in a small town cup (any breed could enter) she was a wild horse from the outback and we came first 2 years in a row. Ohhhh those were the days!!! 🏇

OMIGOSH! Almost 500 comments!! And I read alot of them! I wanted to respond to the people that thought Blake and Alan put Penny through great stress and trauma trying to catch her. I've watched most of your videos starting from January 2020. People might not know that most of the horses and donkeys you work with are wild and intouched when you get them. You have had to come up with ways to catch them, load them in a trailer, get a halter on them, and spend HOURS, and HOURS working with them to gentle them - and all without harm to the horses or you. Your thoughtful ways with the horses turn untouched, unusable and fearful horses into handleable, respectful, trustining. safe horses. The people who were critical of how Blake and Alan caught Penny should watch more of their videos to see how they work with the horses. Most of you could not begin to do what they do to safely make gentle, respectful horses out of wild ones.

Nice fully... Really good temperament. Never offered to kick ...even though she was turning her butt towards you the whole time. The owners should have had her ready for you to pick up. All this taught her was that she can run away...

This is actually how I taught my mare who hated to be caught NOT to run away and this was in a pasture.

That’s how you want to keep them until it all starts. The more you handle the less respectful they tend to be.

@@jrod264winmag actually yep. I've had over 40 years of experience breeding and riding horses. I've handled world and national champions. You? Lol I have also handled and owned horses out of the same bloodlines this filly come from. If they are disrespectful again it's the handlers fault.

Penny is stunning the misty markings on both the horses is just the most beautiful markings I have ever seen.
Good job catching her and getting her on the trailer. Either you're great horsemen or she's very smart. She caught on quickly when she was finally roped.
Oh, well now that you got finally got the halter on, I will just comply.
Thanks for showing almost all of the process (in real time) of getting a horse who doesn't know you to eventually take a halter. Blake showed some real patience, but she wasn't having it till she got a little restriction by being roped and two people working to convince her. Still nothing crazy and no overly panicked horse, so excellent transfer. Great job.

I showed registered Quarter horses back in the day. My mare was a granddaughter of the founding sire, Poco Bueno. I showed her in pleasure, trail, equitation. My other mare, a sorrel, Heart 39, was a cutting horse. I miss those days, so glad to keep up with your farm and horses. Beautiful filly!!
Poco Bueno was not the founding sire of quarter horses. That would be Wimpy P 1. Poco Bueno like Impressive was one of the worst things to happen to the quarter horse industry. Both are responsible for deadly genetic mutations that people to this day won't stop breeding.

Nicely muscled already as a yearling. Is she a roan palomino? Doesn't seem like she's been handled much at all. Blake has a blank slate to work with and should do great. Looking forward to updates. One spirited filly you've got there.

Well, I found this video again today & I just wanted you to know I have been watching Amry Palmer's video's training Penny. Amry has 2 video's out with Penny. She is stunning & catch on really good. Also getting tips to use on my horse as well. Thank you Alan for sharing & let us know who was going to help you with Penny. I watch your video's alll the time....Good stuff. :)

You should have tried walking up to that young filly with a smalle bucket of trears I bet you would have been able to slip the Halter right on her without having to Chase her all around getting her all scared and worked up and making your first meeting stressful for her
There’s always one. At LEAST one. The armchair quarterbacks abound on every video it seems. Next time you catch a horse, YOU take treats and don’t worry about how anybody else does things. You probably have no idea how many horses these people have been around all their lives.
Using treats doesn't always work on a horse that hasn't had much training.
Totally agree with you. It would have much less stressfully for the filly if things had been done differently.
@@albertledesma5173 Being around horses doesn't automatically mean you're good with them. I wouldn't use treats either but they put an awful lot of pressure on that horse with 3 people in the pen and more that stood watching. Poor horse must have thought she was going to be diner that evening with so many predators around her.

Nice! My filly has Frenchman's Guy on her pedigree twice, (but PC Sun Frost three times - one time with PC Sun Socks rather than Frenchman's Guy). I have high hopes for her. If you ever decide to part with this one keep me in mind.

Very nice. From what I could tell, her confirmation looks good, interesting shading on her coat, love the size head and her fuller body type in general. She’d hold a judges attention. As you moved around her, she didn’t seem like she wanted to hurt you or your son, a good sign. For what there worth, those are my thoughts what I could see of your new filly. I have that feeling that you and your son could run circles around anything I could say about your new girl. She is lovely though I agree even with my limited equine knowledge.

It is a beautiful horse but I couldn't tell you how good you did until I knew how much you had to give for her. My brother owns the Rafter SM quarter horse ranch in Oklahoma so I have seen a lot of really pretty horses, but that little filly is well put together.
I looked online at Frenchman’s and found a photo of Frenchman’s Six Dash that Penny resembles. I think Penny is Beeeeautiful!!!
A small bucket of feed goes a long way. However, I always whistle at every feeding time. Within no time a horse will come when they hear you whistle. No chasing them is ever needed.

Really pretty. Too bad her owners didn't mess with her much but you can get her caught up quick. She's really athletic looking. I was hoping you'd show us her dam. Was she that perlino we saw in the next pen? So it will be fun to see what she can do, barrels, cutting, roping? It would be cool for Sixty-six if she could win some money. Careful she doesn't blow up when you put her in that squeeze. Try and get her to do a lot of join up in the round pen first and take your time. Blake's real good at it. Just get her tired in the round pen then she'll turn and look at you and join up. Let's start a go fund me so you can buy her momma!
