I’ve done this trick over many years. An Indian friend taught me this trick when I was in my teens. It always helped in training. Once you get close to the goal/ horse, look him in the eyes as you blow a soft puff of your breath to his nostrils. This gives the animal your sent. They will immediately sense whether to fear you or trust you, by your sent. I’m no spring chicken now.
I enjoy watching you and seeing your family and farm. I especially appreciate the calm , gentle, patient way you work with your horses. Thanks for sharing your life with us.
That’s a really calm colt for his first time being touched. I expected him to be a lot more worked up in the trailer. I think he’ll be an awesome horse once he’s gelded and has some more time put into him. Great job guys!
That's a good lookin' Roan 🤠👍 I think it's great that you're passing your horsemanship skills to your son & I'm really liking how you guys work with the horses and still allow them to be a horse - great video! 🤠👍
Hi, Palmer family. OMGosh, I can't believe how big those puppies have gotten!!!! Bella looks good. Not being around a farm or farm equipment, I was amazed at how you could literally encase the red roan into such a small space to calm him and to halter him. You could call him Red. As always, take good care on the farm, have a great day at work, and stay well.
Great video loving the newcomer to the fold ❤ the name Foster is a great name because that's exactly what you did foster him 😊 keep up the good work, guys x
He is a nice looking boy, pretty color and good conformation as well. During my travels I have passed by several reservations and been sad to see many of the horses look bad, skinny and bad feet as well. Also many just don't have good conformation either, probably a result of bad breeding. But this guy, well he is far and above what I thought he was going to look like when Alan said he came from a reservation. I wish I could see what all happened with this beautiful roan stallion. He is maybe the best looking reservation horse I have seen you guys get. It is now June 2023 and I hope he is out there as a cherished horse for someone.
Zinger, is what comes to mind. And I love his disposition, my gelding is out of mustang stock he is built just like him. He could make a barrel horse that's what my boy is.
I would call him Silas and I laughed so hard at Jasper jumping and waiting to be let out, boy can he jump. I have a rooster that crowed on que by shear luck too, it’s pretty cool.
Nice youngster. I've always wanted to start a horse -- I've retrained a rescue, but never started from the ground up. I think you named him yourself -- 'Roany or 'Roni -- short for Pepperoni
New subscriber, nice fo see this. I have a wild mustang mine has been out of holding 40 days now. Waiting to pickup my husband next month sometime. We are in Michigan.
@@sherberticecream3736 Poor guy, he’s lucky to have been rescued. I don’t know how a one eyed horse would do with our small children, I worry he might accidentally step on one on his blind side.
He was born with it so his senses are pretty good. He’s not clumsy but I get where your coming from. I’m looking for the perfect horse for my 8 year old and I’ve never been so picky in my life 😂😂
I love your guys farm! You’re both so great with horses! Do you offer a training program? I have a buckskin colt I would haul to you guys to train next January. We’re located in Queen Creek! -emilee
This video just helped me out a lot at the end, I’ve had an untouched horse for a year and a half and I haven’t had the time to get this far or know how to do it but now I know how to. He was a stallion but I got him gelded last spring after I found out my mare was pregnant which was a freak accident! I’ve touched him a few times but that’s cornering Him in his shelter.
The first pony that I trained when I was a kid was named buckaroo he’s a welsh pony he never actually buck once with me LOL And he was just like your horse never been handed an he would try to bite me if I tried to pet him below the upper shoulders. I just thought it was neat that your son was thinking of naming this new horse of yours buckaroo! I didn’t named my buckaroo he came with the name and I thought it fit him so I kept it 💞
I love what you do for those horse and I understand that’s there’s no water out there or vegetation. I train horses and the only thing we can do for a skinny wild horse is to give them pelots or total equine👍🏽I also train horses
No but me and two of my cousins train horses and we mostly train wild horses. But we want to try TH-cam. We are all saving up to get a go pro to record
One thing that will help to trim the Roan stallion is to lead him horseback on a ride in some rocky areas or pavement. The hoofs may break off in their own. Just a thought.
Good looking Red Roan Stallion. Blake will have him calmed down in a few days. Are your schools still open? Ours went back to online only this week! It was 81 here today! No moisture in site!
@@TheFarmonRoute66 thanks for letting me know. I'm going to build my place. and have an assortment of animals too. but. not for slaughter. i will not allow that on my property.
The new project is just beautiful. I vote for Rocky or Rusty. Will you do the hoof trimming while he is out for being gelded? Scout is gorgeous, but everyone loves a buckskin.
This a program that promotes wild horse adoption. Trainers and high school students have 100 days with a wild horse. There is a showcase competition at the end and horses are sold. Although a lot of kids/trainers keep them. I think it was started by the Mustang Heritage Foundation. You sign up and they give you a horse.
@@TheFarmonRoute66 there's also the incentive program through the BLM (the real blm lol the bureau of land management program) and they pay you to adopt a mustang they have an online corral too where you can view all the horses in the auctions and if you do buy one they have multiple pick up areas and also local ppl are offered incentives to be a corral for the newly rounded up or the overflow (i believe it's called the storefront incentive or something like that) I'll go grab you a link to the blm page directly brb
