The May Cheong Group that owns Maisto and Bburago has recently released a 1/18 Ferrari F50 coupe under the Bburago brand, but it is a re-release of the old 90s Maisto coupe. In this video, I will compare it to the old 90s Bburago (Made in Italy) and also with the Hot Wheels Ferrari F50, which is based on the old Maisto F50 but still has a few differences.
    Old Bburago:
+ available in several colors (red, yellow, blue, silver, black, white)
+ available in coupe and convertible form
+ prettiest and most detailed interior
+/- prettiest headlights (but not accurate to the real F50)
+ raised ferrari lettering underneath the spoiler
+ spoiler seamlessly attached to car body
+ raised f50 logo on passenger side dash (separate chrome piece)
+ no rear wheel arch underspray
    + seats are straight
+ can be displayed inside box
    - old paint
    - no centrelocks
    - no brake discs
    - no ferrari luggage (handbag)
    - no two-tone indicators
    - front trunk underspray
    - no black dot next to front grille
    Old Maisto:
+ available in several colors (red, yellow)
+ available in coupe and convertible form
    + realistic headlights
+ realistic wheels (accurate shape & matte silver color)
    + has centrelocks
    + has brake discs
    + ferrari luggage (handbag)
    + two-tone indicators
+ spoiler seamlessly attached to car body
+ realistic and working spring coil suspension
+ f50 logo on passenger side dash
    + no front trunk underspray
    + tire wall branding
    + seats are straight
+ can be displayed inside box
    - ferrari lettering underneath the spoiler just a print
    - old paint
    - rear wheel arch underspray (not on all, but many batches)
    - no black dot next to front grille
New Bburago (same as Old Maisto, except):
    + new paint
+ no rear wheel arch underspray
    - only available in red
    - only available as a coupe
    - no tire wall branding
    - seats are crooked
Hot Wheels (same as Old Maisto, except):
+ raised Ferrari lettering underneath the spoiler
+ black dot next to front grille
    - spoiler not seamlessly attached to car body
    - no spring coil suspension on red coupe
    - no f50 logo on passenger side dash
    - cannot be displayed inside box
    Conclusion:
To me, the New Bburago wins. Because it takes all the positives from the old maisto, has the least amount of negatives, and while it loses tire wall branding, it has new paint.

The rear end of the old maisto in spider version has the same separate spoiler of the hot wheels basic line, but the new Bburago in coupe version does not have that gap, othe difference that you didnt mention, is that the new Bburago has double hood roods, that the old Bburago has two but one is metallic and you cant move it, and the other one is movable but it doesnt have the detail of the new Bburago, the roof top of the old Bburago is made of diceast, and the new Bburago is plastic. For me, the best option on a short budget is the new Bburago,

Old Bburago F50 is still one my favourite models, among my other more detailed and more expensive model that I have. it just looks right to me, I love Burrago F50. I have 5 of them right now - black coupe, yellow coupe, red coupe, silver cabrio and red cabrio. Still need to get remaining colors, especially white and violet.
It's Old Burrago, skip everything Maisto related, including Hot Wheels, because it uses Maisto mold, or just get GT Spirit.

Very informative video about the F50 from these different manufacturers. In my Ferrari collection I am only having the old Bburago models - still missing the 288 GTO. Interesting to see that also the Hot Wheels and Hot Wheels Elite version isn't perfect and you'll still see some details that are looking better at a different model.

There's also a MIRA Ferrari F50 but it looks very similar to the old Bburago and the additional features it has, are vent glass frames (but no glass inside), it has a black trim around the engine bay cover, but its front trunk does not open at all, so it is the worst of them all.

I had already ordered one Ferrari f50 and that's the one that came back when I got it was all messed up then second one was the original 1995 Ferrari f50 that's in mint condition!!! The other one they gave me a refund for that one which was the new old maisto/borago.. I wish you would make more videos on the Ferrari line but I want to thank you again for the video you made that made me realize the difference between old and new I didn't know there was a difference until I've seen your video... 👍👍👍👍👍

I took notes and had to review it several times 😂 Well worth it, however!
Thank you for taking the time to make it so detailed!!
I am not an avid collector, but I like to have prominent examples of my favorites displayed on the furniture.
I thought of going with F40, and as much as I love it, it looks so out of place next to Saleen S7 and Pagani Zonda 😢
I figured the F50 is the next best thing, and so here I am.

Biggest mistake on old Burago F50 that bothers me the most of all and you didnt noticed it is thrunk line above rear wheels. Its straight but it should be 45 angle going toward wheel. That is totally wrong body line. I dont know why they did it like this.

  • @oscarcsar

Yes, that's right, many Ferraris and other models that are sold as Bburagos, are real Maistos, just like the new re released F50. Ferrari 348 it's the original Maisto wich has a targa roof, Bburago released it with sealed roof. The new Bburago 348 it's the Maisto. And so the same thing with Lamborghini Murciélago roadster, the one selled as a Bburago it's a Maisto, Bburago never did Murciélago roadster, remember that Murciélago's Bburago was the coupe and it was smaller, yes, just like Diablo and Aventador, they are like 1/19 or 1/20 scale, well, that's what happened to Bburago, oh and just as old Maistos are being selled as Bburagos, Bburagos are being selled as Maistos, like Aventadors and Nissan GT-R amd so others. How to know if you bought a Bburago or a Maisto? By checking suspension, original Bburagos don't have suspension, they never have had. And Maisto always have had suspension. May Cheong has scrambled both brands. 🤪

    • @ImperialDiecast
      @ImperialDiecast  2 ปีที่แล้ว

yup, mostly. the 348 tb and ts though are separate cars. the maisto 348 TS foglights have black pegs, but the bburago 348 TB foglights dont have pegs. also the bburago 348 tb rim centers have holes where you can see the black pin, but the maisto ferrari 348 ts rims have it covered in silver.

Just can’t find a single company that makes a great opening Ferrari f50. I have a small kyosho one in 1/43 scale I likes a lot. The details are great, but it just too small. Timiya also makes a 1/12 scale F50. But not that impressive. Expect for the $20,000 one. I just can’t think of a good Ferrari F50 to collect.

    • @ImperialDiecast
      @ImperialDiecast  ปีที่แล้ว +1

maybe because of my video? jk. idk. i've noticed it too. The new bburago re-release that was commonly available back when i made the video is now completely gone. Recently GT spirit released a sealed resin F50 and KK scale will release the open top version in the fall of 2022, so maybe that's brought this car back to collectors' attention and they went looking for the fully opening versions that could be had for cheaper instead.

really hard to say. i think it's a super clean headlight cover. you can tell it exists by the little shine to the top right.

How you doing in Mr imperial diecast? I hope everything is all right with you but I have a crazy situation I've got 2 1/18 scale Ferrari f50 one of them is the new old Ferrari f50 from virago / maisto and I also have the old maisto from 1995 listen perfect condition paint everything in it that's brand new as it was a 1995 all over again but the new version I purchased both of them on eBay the new version I got it look like it came out of a barn the left rim and tire was really messed up rim was bent tire hanging over the rim Dusty as hell but on the other hand the original 1995 which is a Ferrari f50 convertible isn't perfect condition that's crazy huh only thing is I just noticed that the original 1995 at 50 didn't have any left or right door Wing windows can you tell me if the original 1995 Ferrari f50 came with Wing windows on the doors?? The paint on the original 1995 f50 convertible it's got a beautiful paint job it's nice and even like it's brand new like I said before can you please help me I really enjoy all your videos that's how I knew the difference between one and 50 versus the other one which is the old Mac store and the new old maisto and I will talk to you I am glad that I paid attention to your videos thank you very much for making those 😃👍👍👍👍👍

WARNING: If you are planning to / have a Old Bburago F50, NEVER open the front clamshell no matter what ! There are pegs that hold the hood to the body, that pierces through the Ferrari Shield. My black Old bburago has been a victim of this, in which one side's shield is broken.

I have both bburago and maisto, and have to say MAISTO nailed it with very nice detailed on the engine, metal suspension, good paint job, water decals and detail interior. but the down side is the wheels and breaks. Bburago paint job very poorly, suspension is plastic and the decals are just printed stickers, not professional. Buy maisto instead for the same price $$$$
