When I first learned nick was fired, I couldn’t believe it. Looking back now, I’m not surprised. Thank god for Alex.

Yes I've heard the new album and its absolutely amazing. He puts everything he has for the recordings, and thats not a bad thing, but his live performance still lacks that force he used to have while playing live.
@@trevorvolcom7 ya he does a modified version of his scream live in an effort to not blow his throat out again. While I understand where he's coming from, it definitely lacks the punch live it used to.
Glad he's taking care of himself though. Means we can have Trivium another 20 years!

The fact that Matt, Corey and Paolo were able to keep the song mostly in time and get through it with that drumming is testament to how good they are as individual musicians.
I was just thinking that. Every band is different with their in-ears but mine uses clicks and live guitar monitoring so if our drummer gets off we stay on with what we hear.

@@Mike-oz5pp Nah man. Listen to the kick work during the verse it's horribly sloppy and has no rhythm. He's struggling just to keep time with his hands, look at Matt when he's back with the drums, he's intensely trying to show Nick the actual tempo of the song.
i'll take nick's drumming with fun and power and energy over alex robotic playing any day

I'm not gonna lie to you all that I used to admire Nick to back when he was in the band and thought he's an upgrade over Travis. And funnily enough back then, I don't remember the comments here dissing on Nick this much except for complaints regarding the fills he inserts out of nowhere. I guess it's not just Trivium whose standards are growing but us fans too.
I like the fact that Nick lost the tempo as soon as Matt stopped babysitting him and went at the mic at the intro riff

@@Bloorgusgoorge oh ascendancy was definitely what started fucking up his vocals.. theres no denying he already had poor technique then. But yeh this one was also another factor, not saying this performance is what started it at all.
See, this is why it's crucial to have a good bass player that respects what the job is meant to bring. Even when Nick was getting sloppy and couldn't keep time to save himself, Paulo was the one who stayed on time, on rythym and on key, so Matt and Corey could still fall back on him. It's proof that when things go to shit, the bass player is the one to try and bring it back together and Paulo did what he could to try and brink Nick back up to speed. Nick just couldn't get it together in the end.
I'm not surprised Nick was booted from the band, but we need to give respect and appreciation to Paulo for doing his job as a bass player and making this performance salvageable.
Once you hear how off the drums are...you can never un-hear it.

Nick Augusto is an amazing drummer and he was pretty locked in tempo wise with this one! Main thing I'd noticed with him is common with most drummers, he gets excited and rushes a bit live. Travis was waaaay worse about it
Mat Madiro was definitely the weakest link as far as drummers. He's a much better fit for From Ashes To New
i honestly question myself if they sat down with nick after shows like that to talk about the amount of his "fails", to figure out how to improve them

Apart from it being a white explorer it's not the same guitar at all, it's a 7 string and it's not an ESP
Well James was his biggest inspiration, so nothing special with him using the same guitar shape. Also look at their preformances between 2005 and 2009, he's also got the Hetfield stance on point.
Definitely one of the top 5 bands to ever perform at Download, along with Lamb of God, Megadeth, Iron Maiden and Killswitch Engage.
Lamb of God by far holds the title of the best performance... but your list is quite solid.

@@vincegedeon6583 I can't agree. Augusto is live very sloppy especially his double bass. Gotta say that he is a better writer than Madiro. But I think Alex Bent is Triviums best drummer because he is a great writer and he plays live tight as hell (Have seen him live).
I actually saw them live with Nick. They had to stop a song and start over because he screwed up.

Quite possibly the best day of my entire life! I got to see my heroes Metallica and I got to see Trivium, Steel Panther, Tenacious D, Fozzy and Halestorm! However, the Sunday - Sabbath, Anthrax and Megadeth was just incredible.

I remember seeing this in the early to mid 2010s and praying to god they'd find a new drummer. I don't entirely love Alex's style of drumming, but it's really good and really consistent. Trivium wouldn't be the same without him.
