Absolutely love how he backs off during the chorus. Being a kickass drummer is one thing, being a kickass band member is another.
He's the best Trivium drummer so far. Matt even said so. He supposedly nailed recording the majority of the new songs on the first try.

More drummers should do these types of videos.
I think Alex is something of an exception in the genre in that he can actually 100% play his parts live when being watched closely. Sadly a lot of drummers wouldn't do this sort of thing because it'd be given away that they can't really nail their parts because they were brushed up so much in the studio or whatever stage along the way.

Mirko Fustinoni I feel the same! He does remind me of Gene of how calm he is on the drums and how precise he is. They also both play open handed
Alex Bent reminds me so much of Brooks Wackerman of Avenged Sevenfold. They're both relaxed and make drumming like this look so easy. They're also technical and don't miss a beat. Both are monster drummers.

Same here. Alex Bent is literally all the best bits of Travis Smith and Nick Augusto combined. Hes got the thrashy tom and cymbal rhythm, as well as the insane footwork of Travis mixed with the stomping flow and blast beats that Nick introduced. The other two guys didn't really add anything new. Alex is truly the best person they could have gotten and arguably is best they have ever had due to his ability to fuse the previous styles. Alex Bent is incredible.
He is such a nice humble dude and so effing talented!

I've been a Trivium fan since Ember. I've been with the band the whole ride. Over a dozen shows, multiple tour stops even. I've seen every drummer the boys have run with. Your skill is exactly what the band has needed since day 1. Absolutely unreal dude.
I watched this for the first time and thought this was amazing and decided to look more into Alex’s past as a drummer. I then stumbled on the fact he played with brain drill and decrepit birth and damn. Paulicelli’s parts aren’t easy and he played it so well. Congrats on the success and hope you stay with trivium

I've been a Trivium fan since 2004 and I loved the first 3 albums with Travis Drumming.Since his departure the music has been good but not as great as could be with a drummer that challenges and pushes the band.Matt,Cory and Paolo are all top flight musicians so it took you bro to bring Trivium back!!! Alex definitely doesn't get the attention he deserves from the community at large. He's fantastic and this song blew me away the first time I heard it. Talk about flying out of the gate. That opening is so strong, I love it.
