I've played Alter Bridge on Rocksmith on my bass guitar and Brian's Bass lines are so enjoyable to play and are so impactful to the music.

It's always great to see someone discover Alter Bridge. Myles and Mark are rock gods and just great dudes.
As for the next Alter Bridge song you should check out, Blackbird. Either the live version in Amsterdam or the live version in Wembley. Just an awesome song with a ton of meaning behind it.
Definitely Amsterdam. Everyone reacts to Wembley. I have a copy of it myself, but because he was sick at that time, his vocals are way better in the Amsterdam version.
@@mdog2560 EXACTLY! I think people just watch the Wembley version because it has the most views. Regardless of the views, in MY OPINION, Amsterdam BLOWS WEMBLEY AWAY!! I do wish the Amsterdam version had the explanation about the songs origins like Wembley did at the start of the song so that people knew the deep meaning behind it. It’s been my favorite song since the first night I heard it. I was stationed in Alaska up just outside of Fairbanks, AK and I was sitting in the chow hall using their WiFi because I didn’t have WiFi in my dorm room. I have followed Mark Tremonti since I first heard “My Own Prison” back in ’97 so I knew Blackbird would be AMAZING but even I didn’t know the album and song were going to be THAT good. After I heard it the first time I knew it was special. Although being a metal fan (and of course this was before we got treated to Mark’s solo band Tremonti) I LOVED the song Ties That Bind the most with Blackbird being 1B lol but of course that changed with each listen to Blackbird. Then 3 years ago I lost my mom unexpectedly to basically undiagnosed pancreatic cancer (I say that because she ignored all the signs until it was too late and from the time she/we found out she had cancer till the time she died was less then 2 months) I didn’t really get a chance to say goodbye because I didn’t live in Boston where I grew up. After I graduated high school I left for the military and never moved back home again, even after I was discharged and became a fully disabled combat veteran I stayed in N.C. where my last duty station was. She was staying at her sisters house in NH and when we knew it was close to time I went home and saw her literally 10 hrs before she died but of course because of the medication and everything she didn’t recognize me. I hadn’t seen her in a long time because I didn’t have a great relationship with her for many reasons. Anyways the song took on a whole new level of meaning to me after that. Like Myles I’m an Atheist, so of course that means I know I won’t see her again and all that. However this song is just so beautiful and special to me. It still doesn’t lose its original meaning to me, because I dedicated it to a military “brother” of mine who I was close to that took his own life. I don’t agree with what he did because he did it with his wife and two kids downstairs but as someone who myself am about to lose my home to foreclosure and be homeless I have recently considered it (even though I still think it’s a weak way out, I’m not married and don’t have kids, I have a fiancé and fur babies and I’m 35 so no I won’t change my mind I don’t want kids which is why I never had them) she is unaware of what’s happening and NC doesn’t have many options to help me save my home. I’m not a drug addict or an alcoholic, I don’t even smoke. I just made some bad choices and lost jobs before I was awarded my 100% disability rating but now I can’t come up with $17,000 to save the home I’ve built up and it DEVASTATES me and it will destroy her and she will leave me when she finds out soon! Anyways sorry for the rant. I didn’t mean for this comment to be so long. Great opinion and I agree with you!!

Myles Kennedy "Watch Over You" live at Billboard is an absolute must listen. It's a better representation of his vocal abilities than the Live in Amsterdam version because it's just him with an acoustic guitar.

They don't have a bad song. One of their best songs is Blackbird - You will get a lot of requests to listen to their performance at Wembley, but Myles (lead singer) was ill. I'd recommend the album version of that one. Watch Over You is a great acoustic performance at Amsterdam or from Billboard. Go down the rabbit hole and you won't be disappointed !

Brian Marshall is such a good bassist, I've been a bassist myself for nearly 20 years and jamming to Alter Bridge is always fun.
I was actually at this show, the whole place went nuts when Myles hit that high note.

Very important to choose the Amsterdam version. Please don't listen to Wembley version cause Myles was sick in Wembley even if the performance there was brilliant as well.

Myles gets so much shine as a vocalist, and it's all incredibly deserved... But can we talk for a sec about how amazing Mark's singing is too? He's such a secret weapon for AB with his harmonies and his solo project Tremonti is amazing! 🤘

Mark Tremonti (The guitarist) has a solo project that is brilliant. Two great guitarists and singers in one band, makes for wonderful music.
Also the bassist is Brian Marshall, he's a freaking powerhouse.
Great reaction! Always awesome to see people discover Myles & Mark for the first time. They truly are the modern day greatest vocal/guitar duo of current time and so criminally underrated.
For more AB I would recommend Calm the Fire (great Myles performance) and Waters Rising (Mark on lead vocals). Don't forget their side projects those are a must as well

I was there for that performance with my son; we were literally in tears with emotion. The swell of appreciation from the crowd was overwhelming. It was the best concert I’ve ever seen!!!! In my mind, they are the best rock band of this century, and could compete with the very best in all of Rock history,

I totally understand how you must have felt, when you first heard this song. I never knew that you can fall in love with a song, but when I heard this song for the first time it really hit me, I instantly fell in love with it. ❤❤❤
Alter Bridge has been my favorite band for over a decade and a half. They released their first album in 2004 yet a lot of people either have no idea who they are or don't realize they are still making music. So criminally underrated and ignored.
They have brought me through the toughest times in my life. Mostly during the ABIII days. The thing that separates them from most bands for me is that they are able to get every ounce of emotion out of every single song. You can feel every song. Add the orchestra and you almost have sensory overload. You have 17 years worth of music to explore. From Alter Bridge, Tremonti, Myles solo albums and his work with Slash and the Conspirators. It is all great! Enjoy the ride.

Great reaction, I heard AB’s first song release in 2004 - Open your eyes and have been a massive fan ever since. AB have an eclectic range of songs from Hard Rock to rock ballads. Songs like Blackbird, Slip to the Void, Wonder Life, Rise Today, Cry of Achilles and Fortress are a few to start your AB experience off and you will never look back
Goosebumps when Myles hits that high note at the end. My 3 live Alter Bridge classics are 'Watch Over You', 'In Loving Memory' and 'Blackbird'. If you review any of those Christi you will be in heaven.
I really like some songs that Myles done with Slash, an acoustic cover of "fall to pieces" for example

It’s criminal that Alter Bridge aren’t huge in the states.
They are massive over her in the UK.
They have so many epic songs in their back catalogue. From moving songs such as Blackbird or In Loving Memory go all out metal bangers like Metalingus or Addicted To Pain
Isolation, Cry of Achillies, Slip to the Void, and White Knuckles are solid heavier hitters too.
The States (as a whole) are too indoctrinated to like what is 'popular', rather than think for themselves.
If you love bass I recommend Cry of Achilles from Alter Bridge, you will not be disappointed at all!
If you want a juicy baseline, listen to their song "Cry of Achilles"
Now that you're on the Alter Bridge band wagon start with there first album " One Day Remains" and go from there.

love to see that you enjoy a nice bassline too. I switched from guitar to bass a while ago, and the reason is misa from bandmaid. its a japanese rockband with top notch individual musicians and bass solos in most of their songs.
If you ever listen to the studio version of this, Myles actually scoops upward to that final note. He also has one of the largest tidal volumes of any singer I've heard.

Floor herself said so when she published her album Northward with guitarist Jorn Viggo Lofstad a couple of years ago: there's a song (I don't remember the name now) that was composed by Floor years ago and was this close to be recorded with Myles back then...then different schedules, different projects etc, the song never came to be until 2018 when Floor recorded it with her sister 😊

Three bands get me emotional… Nightwish, Sabaton and Alter Bridge! All of them know how to put a song together and have the talent to bring it to life.
I have loved this band since the first time I heard them. I finally got to see them last month and Indianapolis. They are as good as it gets. I was totally blown away. Their songwriting is unbelievable. Their melody and heaviness all at the same time.
That high note is simply delicious. Myles has a fantastic voice and ability to use it.

Alter Bridge can be quite heavy (almost metal) sometimes - which I like a lot. But they have a lot of variation and have some amazing more emotional songs. Like people already requested: Blackbird, In Loving Memory (live Amsterdam), Watch Over You (live acoustic) and Calm The Fire I think are amazing.

Blackbird is the 'big' Alter Bridge song. The live in Amsterdam version is the best one - most people react to Live at Wembley, but Myles was sick that day and doesn't quite hit the notes. For more melodic ballads, really recommend Watch Over You (Billboard sessions), or In Loving Memory (Amsterdam).

WOW! Just discovered this band TODAY. Where have I BEEN?! Under a rock - obviously. That voice! This song! Am binge watching Alter Bridge now ( as in 2am in the morning week night binging! FGS! } Trying to work out what is so utterly mesmerising about this particular song. This is Great GREAT Songwriting. Even without the fleshing out with that wonderful orchestra. Can we just speak about the Drummer too for a minute. That unrelenting driving us forward on the beat. It's a real journey. And then the melodic line + the piercing vocal has such ... can't quite find the words... anticipation! It's like being carried forward on wave after wave of sound ever higher to the edge of some precipice & the tone of Marks voice has ... That's it! It's a 'switch on your central nervous system' alarm element to it. It just grabs you at a visceral level - but it's not unpleasant or jarring. The depth & 'shape' of the timbre saves it + that perfect vibrato - which is solid & steady even on that highest note. And his breath control up there... Takes a lot to turn me into a near gibberish 'FanGirl' - but just "WOW" ! 😍😍😍
Mark said that most of his music is 4/4 because he admits if the time signatures get too complicated he'd lose where he was as he was so used to 4/4 time signature music.
He does state that he loves music like Gojira that is realky experimental and features very odd and strange time signatures but says he'd find it too complex for him to keep up with.
Christie, you know how you said you didn't quite understand why this song makes you feel the way you do, I know what it is. In my Country we call it FEELINGS. 😉
I understand in America it is a rare thing, having songs that are written for the heart & soul & not for money$$.

FYI, Myles worked & continues to work on his voice, as a Vocal Coach I'd have expected you to encourage anyone at any age to learn to sing, better, not go on about being "born with it" talk! Eg. Myles had to learn how to sing better in order to have a voice that he can sustain career-wise, he hasn't had it easy voice wise & he lives with Tinnitus permanently. Mark Tremonti is the founding member of Alter Bridge, he is an accomplished singer & amazing guitarist too.
Also Christi, You're never too old or too whatever to learn something new like an instrument, why do you always say you regret this & that. You body & brain seems functional enough so why do you right yourself off when it comes to learning new things.

I'd also recommend 'Summergirl' by Myles in the band The Mayfield Four; chill inducing, and vocal gymnastics.
He really shows his range in Summergirl, in fact that hole album has some great songs (White Flag and High). He can sing low then hit you with the high note.
Yeah, Summergirl isn't a very excitingly written song. I don't know I would do a video of it because of that. She knows what Myles can do, no need to hear 4 mins of good decent but not spectacular singing, just for a payoff at the end. BUT...definitely listen to it off of recording it.

It's been my great pleasure to see Alter Bridge live on a few occasions. Myles is a total joy to watch and you can just see his passion when he performs. Watching him throw back his head and get totally lost in his guitar is breath taking. Try In Loving Memory, Watch Over You or Blackbird next. Honestly they haven't got a bad song in their catalogue.
Fantastic song to react to. It's also bringing in new viewers, such as myself. I hope you'll react to more of Alter Bridge and Myles Kennedy's solo work.

I would strongly recommend the billboard studio acoustic version, of Myles Kennedy preforming “Watch Over You”. It will once again connect to your soul. It honestly gives me butterflies every time I hear it!
These guys are for real. The whole live album with the orchestra is amazing.
You need to hear Mark Tremonti’s album where he sings Sinatra! These guy ld have serious pipes. Miles sings with Slash. They’re friends. He declined Slashes offer to be Velvet Revolvers lead singer however to be Alter Bridges lead singer. Mark and the other band members were Creed and when they parted ways with Scott Stapp, Mark recruited Myles to be with them in their new venture, Alter Bridge. He knew him from Myles group Mayfield Four who opened for Creed.
Myles fantastic guitar playing is overshadowed by his angelic vocals; likewise, Mark’s great voice is overlooked because of his phenomenal guitar work. This band is simply amazing!
