you're absolutely right, maybe Warne is the best leg spinner and also Brett Lee is a good fast bowler but without McGrath Australia struggled alot specially in 2005 Ashes series when McGrath got injured after 1st test and Australia lose the Ashes after 18 years

Lindsay Went I was surprised that Ian botham smashing him around the ground in the first ashes test in Brisbane in 86/87 didn’t finish him off!!! 😂😂 only joking great bowler he had us in 1989 and 1993.
This was the best Aussie or for that matter any Test cricket team to come to India. India despite missing some key players in between the games put up a good fight 2-1 the result but it could have easily been 2-2 had rain not washed out Day 5 at Chennai. Sehwag and Kumble were the best players for us.
This is the test where the curator in Nagpur prepared a green track because of politics. There was a Dalmiya-Sharad Pawar fight going on then and they wanted India to lose because Ganguly was the captain who was backed by Dalmiya. Ganguly sat out and Dravid stood in as captain. India lost the match and also the series. Very unfortunate event in Indian cricket history.
While no one is denying that Aussies were definitely the better team, this however is true that Saurav opted to stay out of this game because of the green pitch.
Oh wow I really didn’t know about the backstory of Ganguly I think I just remember hearing he was out due to injury. This series really was a baptism of fire for some of the younger Indian players to play a great team even though it’s in their own conditions. These days going to India is a baptism of fire for visiting teams.
