    I loved watching Trescothick bat. Such a shame his england career was cut short

      He must have absolutely dominated in County Cricket.

    20:27 That was a no ball from Warne to Trescothick! Can't believe they missed that when using 3rd umpire!

      A percentage of the crowd , noticed Trescothick was out , to a no ball , below average umpiring

      Yeah- no ball. You could hear the crowd shouting it as they watched the replay.

    A truly great Australian team....a truly average to poor Englad team and the last time the Aussies won in England. Way back in 2001.

    That shot by Mark Ramprakash had to be the 1st brain fade moment in the history of cricket match. Over the years I have seen many brain faded moment in cricket but that shot ! Till now no one could match with Ramprakash.

      That was a genius shot if he smashed Warne for 6, Warnes career would have ended 😂

      You probably haven't watched much cricket then if you think in more than 100 years of history no one had brain fade moments

      Brainfarts were a trademark of Mark Waugh, he'd have been a better bat than his brother otherwise. He was more talented.

    The joke of a decision against Atherton in the first over of the match is one of the reasons DRS is vital in cricket. The huge click of the ball hitting armguard should of told the dozy umpire it was not out.

  • @vincentharriman3283
    @vincentharriman3283 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

    It was mistakes like the umpire giving out a player caught who hadn't hit the ball or giving out a lbw when the replay showed the ball missing that led to the introduction of the review system.

  • @aussierhino471
    @aussierhino471 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Not sure Craig White hit the 'bat pad' in the first dig, but was probably out LBW! Atherton was unlucky as well; I think the thumb of his glove touched it in the 2nd innings, but I don't know how umpire Venkat would have seen it! The umps had a bit of a shocker, but Trescothick really looked good, especially against the short ball.

    • @vincentharriman3283
      @vincentharriman3283 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It was before the review system came in so unless the umps asked for the third umpire to check, players had to accept the decision.

    • @aussierhino471
      @aussierhino471 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@vincentharriman3283 Absolutely correct. If it had been in back then, Shane Warne would have a Test century to his name! I think the review system is a positive, generally, but sometimes I think it's misused.

    Great memories trescothick definitely one of England best. Watching this thank goodness we have DRS.
    McGrath and warne deadly.
    Venkat would have had a few overturned 😂

      I feel like Venkat have decisions based on whether the batsmen deserved to be out rather than whether or not they actually were lol, like Hayden’s LBW in the first innings

    This Aussie side was simply the best!
    They continued to dominate international cricket - all formats, right up to Shane Warne and Macgraht's retirement.
    Wonderful team, arguably better than the West Indian side of the 1970s and late 80s.

    Pretty much sums the Aussies up. England cruising batting second, and the two openers just get given out when they weren't. Warne no ball, and Atherton nowhere near it! Enter the collapse.

    The only "weakness" in this Australian team was the lack of a 5th (even part-time) bowling option.
    Although with Gillespie and Lee as your 3rd & 4th best bowlers (not necessarily in order), you don't often need a 5th... but there are always times it could be useful, like when McGrath stood on a cricket ball after the teams were declared but before the game started.
