San Martin are really getting their act together and at the end of 2023 we started to see a vast improvement in specs and quality.
Better dials. Variations of Bracelet. On-The-Fly Adjustable clasps.
Shorter links for a better fit.
Its all been going in the right direction.
The San martin SN0113W V2 is the perfect GADA ( go anywhere Do anything watch)...but it has flown under the radar as it has been listed as a V2...but its not. Its far better than that and homages a different watch in this iteration.
In my Review I will dive into why its been missed ...and why you should not miss it!

Looks amazing in green imo... it shouts quality!
I think so too!
I'm waiting for the next batch to arrive in May... This is maybe the best watch, not only from China, but also in this price range IMO. In about 5 years I reckon that Swiss watchmaking might even go through a mini crisis.
Totally agree loverly watch
Nice review. I have the blue version and I have grown to like this watch the more I wear it. The blue is a nice blue/grey color with a modest sunburst. Really like the way the horizontal groves in dial catch the light at certain angles and give a silver sheen to the dial face.
The green is absolutely the best of the bunch with blue coming in second. Watchdives are the best vendor in China , I honestly believe that.
Another amazing watch and review. Thank you John.
My pleasure...glad you enjoyed it ☺️
Great video as always. Superb watch if you want a great GADA. If I saw this pop out from under a shirt cuff at a customer meeting I'd be so impressed I'd have to take a pause in my presentation 😊. With this design and the SM logo it really looks like a £2k swiss watch.
Dunno how this slipped by everyone. It's a cool watch 😎
Excellent review as always and I agree with you about no one talking about it. I think you're only about the second or third review over the last few months. Crazy as it's a bloody fantastic watch. My blue one is on my wrist now. Wishing I had the green as well but I have a few other green watches already. It's a solidly built thing and hasn't left my wrist in a month.
It's funny how one or two really brilliant watches just... miss! Weird ;)
Really good to see this one in more detail.
Cheers James ;)
I believe there was a version 1 with the same dial but the simpler case shape of that other watch. That said, I really like this piece! No bezel to be misaligned, no ghost position because this has a proper date window. They even fixed an issue many have with the OG watch, the polished bracelet links.
It's a good un!
Thanks for this review, John. I just got mine in the blue color way and I have to agree with everything you’ve said about this watch. Really special one from San Martin. This is my third San Martin and the best one yet (and I love my first two, both are still in regular rotation). But totally agree with your question as to why this watch isn’t getting more attention online as it’s simply fantastic and incredible value for money. Highly recommended. If you’re on the fences with this one, go for it!! So happy I did.
Thank you for sharing. Good to hear that I am not shouting in a vacuum 🤗😺
I knew you'd like it buddy! It's definitely a looker!
Hi Dan, you know me so well haha!
I am just waiting and hoping that San Martin will do the SUMMER BLUE dial as on the omega. Great watch great video
Sounds nice!
I like this watch 👍🏻
Thanks for the review John, another super video.
I own the green version as per the review and think it is excellent. In fact it wears like my explorer for its comfort and no fuss.
A different proposition to the Proxima, which is also a very nice watch. Cheers. Noel
Thanks Noel 🙂
Well executed watch John, like the green also, but screaming for a high beat movement! Also, I like the easy adjust clasps but SM need to work on a smaller, thinner version, specially for these smaller gada sport watches. Regards
I've had the San Martin Railmaster for a while and recently bought The Omega for more than twenty times the price. Sized the San Martin bracelet in a couple of minutes while whistling a happy tune. Sized the Omega bracelet in a couple of hours while screaming obscenities that had every Scottish trawlerman from here to Spitzbergen blushing.
Haha. Sounds about right !
Love this one John. Slightly small for me but very nice. Thanks John. 🤓
Very welcome
Like you, amazed at lack of coverage of this SM.
Glad I didn't go for the blue last year as the green looks great.
It's a bit of a mystery...
I'm not sure if it can be called version 2, but I think it looks better. I'm not normally a green dial lover, but this one looks great. In the outdoor shots the green looks quite subtle which I like. You described the watch as elegant and I think that sums it up beautifully. Thanks for reviewing this one as I haven't seen it before.
:)
It looks great, something I'll watch for on a future aliexpress sale ⌚
This cupboard of doom section had me in real suspense! Haha great review as always, John. Lovely watch but I think I prefer the sleeker look of the v1.
Hi buddy. The V1 was a real looker and the finishing was sublime though the dial was very flat, even by SM standards. I was looking forward to my review until the movement just died. Very unusual but I suppose it happens now and again....and always with me 😆
That’s a belter but surprised not to see a black one? Their seamaster 300 homage was gorgeous
"Belter" a Scotsman in in disguise 🥸! I agree, it's a great watch and why black isn't available mystifies me. An option with an orange hand and accents would have been VERY cool 😎!
With a saphire back to see the movement, it Will ne perfect
Always loved the AquaTerra and this is a really nice looking homage. A perfect three hander GADA watch, and this could well be my first San Martin purchase. I think the colours could be improved upon, but the green version is certainly the best of the bunch on offer right now. I appreciate the practicality of the clasp, but I'm just not convinced that the large, bulky size looks right with smaller watches, or wears well on smaller wrists. Like you, I can't understand why SM isn't pushing this one more. It's a beautiful watch.
It's weird how it's kinda just not talked about. I can assure you the watch wears like a dream and is perfectly balanced. My wrist is only 6.75 inches and it doesn't feel bulky underneath at all but yes a smaller clasp would make sense. I kept getting notifications last night that people were buying it in numbers from Watchdives and you may struggle now to get the green but with a bit of patience you may even get a great deal. :)
Pretty darn nice looking watch. If I didn’t already have an aquaterra I would definitely be interested. 😊
Heck I might just get one to have a beater AquaTerra 😊
Thanks for watching!
Nice review. I came very close to ordering one of these, but decided it was just a bit too blingy and I wouldn't actually wear it.
Nonpponts for originality, but they look great in execution. And I agree, theres something about the green dial that's a winner. The brushing looks up ro the SM usual impressive standard.
And I like them bottom heavy...
😆
You went a bit poetic there in the cupboard of doom, very profound!! 👍🏻
All part of the fun ☺️
I honestly think this watch more than deserves the praise your giving it. It would have to be the green or blue and white dial for me though I don't know how many green dials might have by the end of the year.
Green has never been on my radar but over the last few months I have seen some nice designs in that colourway.
@@johnswatchjoint I feel the exact same way honestly and I am honestly glad for it we all have far too many black and blue watches.
Great review, that is a beautiful watch 👍. I like the green dial a lot, but I prefer the version 1 case style.
Congrats on your watch win 👏
@@johnswatchjoint Thanks John 😁👍. I hope you are well. Duncan
I'm in the market for a green dial. Excellent watch, as it's a San Martin. I just wish it was a more vibrant green. The dark green mutes some of it's beautiful aesthetics, in my opinion.
Great looking watch. All class. If you can’t afford the original, this would have to come close to the Aqua Terra experience.
It's a very decently made watch but zero points for originality ;)
Probably my favorite AliExpress GADA. I’m going to wait for your review of the Seestern 446 GMT and decide if this or the Seestern is going to be my next purchase. Also for those who want a better look at the silver dial of this watch, Zee at the Watcher has an unboxing video. Thanks as always!
Cheers Albert. I have had the Seestern for a few days and have started my review. It will be out later this week. I never rush it and always follow my review rules ;). I saw Steve has reviewed it already.
@@johnswatchjointHe did, and it was very thorough, but still want to see yours. 👍🏼
...and mine is in a different colour ;)
Between the black railmaster there was a version 1 of this watch , version 1 had the same colours and Aqua Terra dial but had a butterfly clasp and some polished links plus it used the Railmaster case . The V2 is a killer watch and like you I’m lost as to why it’s not featured more.
Yes it seems there was another V1 that was a SM Watchdives Collab which I haven't seen. Their numbering system failed on this one!
Great review & great looking watch. I think it looks great on the khaki n*to strap. Where is the strap from?
They are available on Ali but I think this came with one of my Proxima watches.
@@johnswatchjoint Thanks!
Agreed .
I just ordered this watch in the green, with the colour-matched green date wheel. I’d ideally like 39-40mm, but 38mm on this one should be ok.
Hey buddy. Long time no speak. You'll love it. I've just got in the black one. Stunning for the price ☺️
I once got a Seagull Seamaster in 2019 for $144. It's unbelievable. But unfortunately the window closed to western markets and seems it's only for the Chinese market now.
That's a bummer 😞
I REALLY want the blue one … when they come back in stock. But am concerned with having a 7.2 inch wrist thus might wear small ? I have a couple of 38mm Watches that look okay - hawe we / me got used to 40mm clocks too much do you think ? The impression I get from yourself and another poster on this piece is that it “ wears small “ as it were? Any opinions appreciated thanks.
This watch will suit you just fine :)
Beautiful watch. And it should be as it's a straight up copy of the Omega Aqua Terra .
Haha. Not quite. They reversed the hands ;)
@@johnswatchjointand imo this works better..on the OG watch it looks like the arrow snaped from the hour hand..it has a blunt tip..here the end of the minute hand is sharp..looks better and makes more sense..at least to me
Hope SM eventually offer a full-letter applied logo option, because the applied hexagon logo hurts my eyes...
So you buy a watch because of the logo? lol
@@TillSwims Not the most bright of the family, huh?
Good review John. For the price I'd like to see the PT5000 as an option at least (a movement you recommended when I asked you about movements a month or so ago).
I'd like to see a dateless option too. Looks good but it isn't exactly cheap though is it? Not expensive but it is in a price range that I would want a 4k movement and a couple of extra links to seal the deal since my wrist is 7.75" and therefore pushing the boundaries of whether it would fit me or not.
Agreed. Also it needs crownguards. I find the watch to be a bit boring compared to green Seiko Alpinist. But then again, that watch is 3X more expensive. ❤
I have other watches. They all have a role, one is work, another is a Swiss chronometer and the other is just for fun. I'm now after a plain no nonsense mechanical watch, so I don't mind the plain look done well. See where I'm coming from?
@@ThePaulv12 yeah. I see where you are coming from. Its a beautiful watch.
@@Pal-us9uv I think the one I like is an Addiesdive AD2028. It is plain, has a silver dial and a PT5000.
Check it out. I'd be interested in what you think.
It might not be to your taste but as far as plain done well, another opinion is valuable to me.
I'll take the plunge I think. It isn't quite perfect as perfect for me would be a small cap on the centre spindle above the second hand that some watches had in the 1950s and 60s, and the annoying 11 at the 12 o'clock position (that once seen can't ever be unseen LOL). Why don't they just put a normal single index there on a dress watch I'll never know? I do still like it.
@@ThePaulv12 I have never seen that watch before. It looks nice. I do not own an addiesdive (yet). I have been looking into Ad2023 with nh35, or pt5000, and Ad2030. There is also an ad2029. I think the most important thing is that you choose a watch you like. Its very individual. Im not an expert (at all). 😀Addiesdive looks like a lot of value for money. Personally I own a few San Martin watches. I really love the quality they offer.
It's the sort of Watch that needs a high beat movement inside it.
Wish they made it in 41mm with a high beat movement.
Version 1 was the same dial, but straight lugs and with polished center links. Nice watch but Im waiting for a black dial.
The dial on v1 was flat. No ridges.
@@johnswatchjointnot true mate, the dial was exactly the same :)
It seems there were two version ones. You can see in my video the version ones they have now. I have not seen your version. Maybe you could send an image of your watch to my Gmail so I can see one :)
@@johnswatchjoint I think you’ve confused it with the actual railmaster homage which was SN0113. This is the watch dives collab, with the first version being the SN0113W, and the current version (from your review) being the SN0113W V2. The difference is the SN0113 is the railmaster homage which is just a regular San Martin, while the SN0113W is a watch dives collab which is a homage of the aqua terra. But for the first version they used the railmaster case and bracelet, which they have now swapped out in the V2. Dials are exactly the same though.
Ah I see. Thanks for correcting me. I like to get my facts right. Do send me a photo so I can clear that up . I have not seen your version. Thx 😊
It does look great, but I struggle to keep up with my 15 pieces, I can’t afford to add a great GADA and have it plug up the rotation lol
I admire your stoicism sir 😉🐱
@@johnswatchjoint Appreciate it, but I just realized if/when they release a Summer Blue version then I’ll be all shut up and take my money
Haha...Stoicism is limited apparently ;)
My wrist is about 7.5 inches... Is the bracelet too small if I buy this?
Ask if they will supply a couple of extra links as I think you will struggle.
Seems to stick up on your wrist?
I have and love the v1. IMO this watch with the oyster bracelet is just ‘wrong’….
Long live the Cupboard of Doom! Good lume is a MUST. Love that green dial version. I have always wanted a Seamster homage. Next Sale item for sure John.
Good choice!
Me 2
I can't find this for sale anywhere, annoying as it looks like a must buy.
Unfortunately you will have to be patient ..It seems I am not the only one who thinks this is a great watch. Sold out on both AliExpress AND Watchdives. It's worth the wait :)
Problem with that watch as with most san martin's these days is that its too small..!!
I can't please everyone. We are all individuals. The watch is what it is unfortunately 😞
Looks a Great Watch John! It screams quality still don't like that logo sorry
No apologies necessary. It's a watch.
If only this was made 39 or 40mm
Green is sold out
Try all the links. I got a few notifications last night so I could see the watch was selling pretty quickly via my links. Failing that check other stores and see if you can snatch there :)
Bit bigger please, thank you.
The hour hand is too long
