I'm a 45 year old punk rocker, who has never had the least bit of interest in any type of pop. AG has made me a fan! They play with so many different genres, and, blend them in such unique ways. They're like the J-Pop group for people who don't like J-Pop.
AG is awesome! I love this MV/song too. It always makes me laugh that Mizyu is driving that giant Cadillac. I don't believe she can see over that long hood, lol. As stated by others, there earlier work is generally a jazz/rock fusion. When they signed with 88Rising (2021 iirc) they went more hip hop and have been working with Money Mark of Beastie Boys fame (he was the hitch hiker in this MV). The girls are also quite funny. Their dance practice videos can get hilarious at times so feel free to react to them too. They did a video series explaining Japanese culture called Seishun Academy if you are interested. I look forward to more!
They don't have an order in particular, but I think you'll appreciate "Koi Geba", the members say it's like the best one to show new listeners what Atarashii Gakko is all about, or "Otona Blue Fist Take" since is like the one most reactions do, But my absolute favorite is "SEISHUN WO KIRISAKU HADO" a mixture of indie, punky, rap, with all the girls singing their parts, and all shining
For your next Atarashii Gakko experience, try “Seishun wo kirisaku hado”, “Janaindayo” or “Night Before the Exam (Single-take performance). As others have suggested, Koi Geba is a great place to start with AG. They have been together since 2015 and do their own choreo, write lyrics to some of their songs and are very independent with their direction. Mizyu (twin pig tails) is the oldest (25 now). The other three are 22.
No real order but older is more jazzy and newer mor hip hop but they always mix stuff up. MU favorite is Koi Geba but Otona Blue is THE monster hit for them.. the one take performance with subtitles gives you a glimpse of their personalities and live capabilities.
