My neighbor brought one of those over a few hours before this past Saturday's snow storm. The float bowl was black with varnish and rust, I still smell like turpentine! Drain them at the end of the season!!!
This small engine professional does the best job I have seen cleaning Carburetors for small engines. Why? Step by step instructions In which he reiterates the important points. And then he shows you the tricks in the tools he uses. He's extremely efficient. And he shows you all the pit falls. Then of course , how to make improvements , and what to remove and discard , and what to keep as well as why. He really is the best And only rivaled by DonyBoy 73. Great job! 👍👍👍
I really appreciate that! I make plenty of mistakes but try to be thorough. If it helps someone it is all that matters in my eyes. Thanks for your comments and for watching!
I came across something interesting last year that you and your viewers might be interested in. one Troy-Bilt and one mtd I did last year had a brown substance in the float that looks like coffee. The emulsion tube and jet were also plugged up with this substance. It was not from stale gas or varnish. Both units were relatively new. The culprit turned out to be the fuel line the manufacturer used. It almost seemed to be plastic instead of rubber ??? Has anyone else come across this . The material of the fuel line seems to disintegrate.
Great video! I have a 2410 that I bought used last year, about 10 years old. I’ve spent the last year fixing all the stupid crap Lowe’s and the factory did when they first assembled it. Control cable pulleys that can’t turn, cables misadjusted, nothing greased anywhere, etc. I’d love to see you do a gearbox rebuild on one of these 24” MTD blowers (if they’re worth rebuilding). Getting ready for 6” tonight in KC.
These are mostly assembled incorrectly that I see every time also! They pay the assemblers per piece price and it is very little most barely know how to put a bolt in let alone how to operate the equipment. I will do one if I get one needing some drive working!
Thanks for the video! Clear and easy to follow. Fiancé has a 2440 that only ever ran twice but won't start now. I believe it's the carburetor so I'll be working on that tonight. Learning new stuff every day!
Great detailed information. I’ve been using the purple type of simple green with great luck. Your unit didn’t have the problem, but my primer line split at the end. Maybe throw a inspection reminder while it’s torn apart. Just a suggestion.
For sure! Checking the primer line and even just slightly snipping it back works well. Also checking for cracked fuel line while it is off is always a good idea. This unit was a couple years old but at 5-6 years all of the lines seem to start to crack/separate on the inside and the tanks corrode pretty badly if they get moisture in them. Thanks for the input and for watching!
That is great news! I am very surprised it has lasted anywhere close to this long! My neighbor had one and he replaced the carburetor three times in the course of the 6 or so years I lived next to him.
need a little help please , brand new troybilt 2420 when i blow snow the engine sounds like its running on a little chock but when now plowing it sounds ok, brand new used it once, any help please
Probably the most time saving tool of everything I have purchased! It is nice not to have to pull the plug and test just clip it on and go. I have seen two instances where the check'r would seem to be working then shut off when the engine turned over. This happened in a video one time (not sure which one) also. Other than those couple times there has been no question if the plug was good or not and its accuracy is greatI would say definitely get one since you do a lot of repairs
@@IndRepair thanks. Sometimes just trying to find a good ground is tough. I have a test lead with 2 clips. On spark plug, then on muffler or bar. Another reason is It’s not invasive . Thanks again.
"If you have not used your snowblower in a while your gas may have gone bad (pump fuel goes bad within 30-60 days many times) Your carburetor could also be gummed up or varnished from the fuel The customer was using 87 octane regular pump blended fuel... " Usually bad fuel... pump fuel quality is horrible, ethanol added gums things up and fuel treatments do not work. Use ethanol free and treat it with something that will control moisture. Thanks for watching!
I just got fixing my 26" Troy Built Storm..... went step by step with your video and my blower is running perfectly!!! Thanks so much
Awesome job!

I always love to get it on me right before I eat. Nothing quite like it!

Fue lines deteriorate sometimes at a crazy rate but normally don't see anything like this but a couple times a year. Usually on older equipment

Does choking it just a bit make it run better or make it worse? Check oil level and make sure it does not smell like fuel also if you would please
What cleaning solution do you use in your ultrasonic cleaner
Whatever degreaser you have around should work. We use simple green
He used the combination of simple green and water. I see many of the small engine professionals using this same solution in the ultrasonic cleaner.
I’m thinking of investing in a spark check’r. Are they dependable and accurate? Thanks and stay warm.

a real good video

I did they same thing cleaned the carb and replaced spark plug still not starting
Did you switch the fuel? Does it start with carburetor cleaner, starting fluid or fuel in the intake or spark plug hole?
@ I drained the old fuel and put new in and no I have not tried it ill try if it runs what that mean? Not getting fuel? Sorry new to this
@dansartain6269 correct this will tell us if fuel is what we are missing. See if it will start and run using this
Show that in a little more detail even those little different design at th-cam.com/video/nu8sEe5Tjtw/w-d-xo.html
great video!!! what do you believe caused this problem and how to keep carb from getting this way? where in Illinois are you
