LA Sanitation's Finest: Green Wire Basket Route

This past Monday, I finally got to see the bulk of this route firsthand (from start to finish). These green wire baskets (GWBs) are placed in the cities heaviest homeless encampments for littering, which is what you'll see majority of the video. Over in Venice, it was pretty cool to see the 30 gallon bins were locked in sanitation green boxes.
It was pretty cool to finally see these two guys working together, I hope to see it again.

really shows you that the city has come to accept the homeless situation when they put out lockers and wire baskets for use by people camping out on the street. look up Michael Shellenberger on youtube, he has some interesting ideas about how to solve this whole thing. good job to these men, hope they can get their hands on a bigger piece of equipment soon

This entire place looks like a warzone, local politicians are to blame for being so spineless. I actually voted for him, I loved his ideas on CalPsych. Unfortunately he didnt advance for the election. Can't wait to see these guys in bigger trucks.

It's all fun and games until someone pours a liquid into the baskets and it starts to spill into the sidewalk. I can only imagine how many syringes and needles are among all that crap. Mad respect for those who deal with this route. Also what's the story behind those cart lockers? Never seen those before.

Definitely, I've heard stories of some pretty nasty things on these type of routes. Those cart lockers were specifically ordered by councilman Bonin I believe. They're just so no one steals them or damages them I believe.
